Story
Mary Margaret was found as a stray and never reclaimed. Upon intake, she was not in the best shape but with some help from our Vet staff, she is on her way to feeling her best now. Estimated to be about 2 years old, this beauty is ready to find her family. Here at the shelter, she has been affectionate and outgoing to new people. We are still getting to know her and with each passing day she is coming out of her shell more. We know with patience, time, and love she'll shine in a home. 3159 Susquehanna Trail N York PA 17406 Kennel #3537

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :) When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :) Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us! Callie and Molly are the sweetest girls ever!! Molly LOVES to play and run around and both love to soak up attention. Molly is 7 and Callie is 4 :) They both get along with other dogs and dose not seem to mind cats. They are definitely going to need a fenced yard so they can get all there zoomies out and play together safely :) They are both super affectionate and will both gladly jump up on the couch getting cuddles :) Molly is definitely not a "couch potato" and loves the outside and  is super active so a family that goes on walks and is active would be ideal for this pair :)  Requirements:  Fenced yard.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not. A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop! Archie is a fun-loving, attention-seeking guy who truly shines when he’s with his people. His favorite thing in the world is a good game of fetch—if you’ve got a ball, you’ve got his full attention. While he’s not overly interested in playing with other dogs, he does enjoy having a canine companion nearby for comfort when his humans are away. Because of his personality, Archie will need a home with a fenced-in yard and another dog to keep him company. If you’re hoping for a playmate for your dog, he may not be the right fit—but if you’re looking for a companion to help your dog feel less alone and have a buddy around, Archie may be the perfect match. :) REQUIREMENTS: Fenced Yard, Another dog     Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. Story
Current Location: Nottingham, MD Meet Fred 💛 Fred is a tender, young Shih Tzu mix who is learning what life can be like when it’s safe, quiet, and kind. He came from a hoarding situation, so the world is still a very big and sometimes scary place—but every day, Fred shows small, brave signs of trust that speak volumes about the loving dog he’s becoming. He’s not ready for hands yet, and sudden movements send him scurrying for cover, but if you sit quietly or go about your day, Fred may sneak close, sniff curiously, and—if he’s feeling extra courageous—offer a quick lick before retreating again. Those tiny moments are huge victories for a dog who has learned that survival sometimes means staying invisible. What truly makes Fred shine is his love for other dogs. He bonded quickly and deeply with his calm, patient foster brother Guinness, who has become his emotional anchor and favorite companion. Fred feels safest with a steady canine friend by his side and will need a similar dog in his future home to help him build confidence. With the right buddy, Fred shows glimpses of joy—howling in protest when separated, scattering toys and chews around the house, stealing socks, and getting the “rips” as he dashes around trying to spark a game of chase. While higher‑energy dogs still feel overwhelming, his curiosity is growing, and he’s watching the world a little more closely every day. Fred is still very much a work in progress and will need a patient, dog‑savvy home committed to moving at his pace. He’s a flight risk and not ready for outdoor adventures yet, and grooming and handling will take time and trust. He’s learning to use potty pads again, loves toys and natural chews, and rewards kindness with quiet companionship and gentle glances from across the room. Fred may not be the dog who runs up for cuddles—but for the right person, earning his trust will be an incredibly meaningful journey. If you believe love can be measured in small steps and soft victories, Fred just might be your kind of dog. 🐾

Story
Hey all, I'm called ET, no not Extra Terrestrial, just Extra cute Shih Tzu. I'm a 2 year old, 16#. I was a luck boy getting pulled from a shelter where I had been brought in as a stray. I was a scare-de-cat at the shelter, fearful and shut down with all the noise, barking, clanging of doggie bowls... Ugh! I was even unwilling to allow handling and refused to leave my crate! But, these nice folks worked with me and slowly I made some progress, started to trust familiar people, showing my "Sweeter-side" and becoming a velcro pup with those I trusted.  Once pulled to Molly's Place, things changed. No clang/bang/barking any longer, gentle touches and lovin! Stress all gone, feeling much safer and loved, now I'm doing "Dog Gone Great"! I can't wait to blossom and the folks here can't wait to see me transform into the boy they know I can be!  Updates to come as they are still learning my needs. No kids at this point, sorry until known.  Would that be with you? How's about helping me along? Let me be "Your Velcro Boy"! ET is sure to please!  Kennel License #7198 To submit an adoption application, visit mollysplacerescue.org. Fill the form out completely, print, scan and email back to mollysplace@verizon.net.
