This 2‑year‑old, 15‑pound Shih Tzu may be small in size, but he has a big, gentle heart that’s impossible not to love. Found as a stray in Philadelphia and brought to ACCT Philly, he quickly became urgent due to a dental issue, thankfully, something we can easily take care of so he can start feeling his best again. From the moment we met him, it was clear that this boy finds comfort in closeness. He feels safest when held, snuggled up against someone he trusts, rather than exploring on the ground. He is a sweet, quiet little dog who wants nothing more than a loving family to help him build confidence and show him that the world doesn’t have to be scary. With kindness, patience, and reassurance, he’s sure to blossom into a loyal, affectionate companion. He is a phenomenal guy as long as nothing of high value such as bones or long lasting chews are involved and he is crated while humans eat. If those two rules are followed, he is PERFECT! Snoopy is house trained, crate trained, leash trained, and does well with other small dogs. He is great for grooming but does get squirmy for the water part. He is great for vet visits unless blood needs drawn, then he needs some sedative medication beforehand or he flails like a helicopter. Snoopy is great at giving clear signs of being unsure during his settle in time to a new environment and if you follow his ques, he will be your vest friends, and allow all handling in a weeks time.
