Meet Donny! 🐾 Donny’s journey to safety is one that took a village. Donny was one of five Shih Tzus left behind in a small town north of Austin when their family was suddenly deported. With no time to make arrangements for their beloved pets, the dogs were left outside in the yard. A caring neighbor did everything possible to provide them with food and water, but with triple-digit Texas temperatures, they desperately needed somewhere safe to go. Thanks to the combined efforts of Orphan Annie’s Neonatal Rescue, Victoria Turner, Mina Davis, and Mini Wonders Adoptions, all five dogs were eventually brought to safety. Orphan Annie’s found a foster for the sister, while Victoria and Mina helped transport the four boys to Mini Wonders Adoptions. Now it’s Donny’s turn to find the family he deserves. ❤️ Donny is about 2 years old and absolutely loves people. He seems to make friends with just about everyone he meets! He also gets along well with other dogs, although he tends to do best with female dogs or males who have been neutered for some time. Donny previously lived with his brother, but the two older boys weren’t always the best of friends and occasionally got into scuffles. For that reason, we believe Donny will be happiest having a home of his own rather than being adopted with his brother. After everything Donny has been through, he deserves to know what it feels like to be someone’s cherished family member. He needs a person who will give him a chance, provide him with patience and understanding, and show him that his difficult past is behind him. She was recently shaved due to severe matting around her feet and painfully overgrown nails, but she is now on the mend and feeling so much better. Trixie is absolutely the sweetest little thing. She is very social, loves people, enjoys being with her sisters, and loves to be held. Trixie and her two sisters were surrendered by their owner in San Antonio due to health issues. Quarantine Up July 16, 2026 Meet Winchester. Winchester is a sweet little guy who weighs just 14 pounds, and our veterinarian estimates he is about 8 years old. Sadly, it appears he has lived a life of neglect. He came to us from a shelter in deep South Texas missing much of his fur and looking like he had likely gone a very long time without even the most basic veterinary care. We suspect he may have spent much of his life living outside or fending for himself. The girls here at the rescue have nicknamed him “The Mountain Man” because of his rugged coloring and scruffy appearance. He also reminds me of a little old man who smoked too many cigars....he has the deepest, funniest bark that always makes us smile. Despite his difficult past, Winchester has a gentle, easygoing personality. He gets along well with the other dogs at the rescue and is happiest just hanging out by your side. He isn’t asking for much—just a soft bed, a kind hand, and someone to love. More than anything, we would love to see Winchester spend his golden years in a loving home. We think he would be the perfect companion for a retired person or couple looking for a quiet, loyal friend. After everything he’s been through, he deserves to know what it’s like to be cherished, comfortable, and loved for the rest of his life. Winchester is currently located outside of San Antonio, Texas, but we may already have a transport scheduled near you. Check our website for upcoming transport dates.
