Story
I have more videos on the rescue website! My name is Pepper. I weigh 7 lbs. (2/16). I am one in a litter of three. We were born around November 15. We are fostered in Mount Airy, North Carolina but easy, affordable transportation is available. Our mom weighed 7 pounds and our dad weighed 10 pounds. They were both family pets with great dispositions. We all have long bodies and short legs. We are not considered hypoallergenic or non-shedding since we are mixed breed puppies. We are well socialized and very loving. We love being held and petted, and we always greet our foster mom at the door with wagging tails and lots of kisses. We love to play with toys and with each other. We do like to chew on fingers and toes so we definitely need some training in this area. We have a medium energy level. We are working on house training. We sleep in a crate every night and we have learned not to potty in our crate. As soon as our crate door is opened every morning we run straight to the door to go outside and potty. We are good with the other dogs and love to play with them. I am the boldest of the three and the first to try anything new. I love to snooze in my foster’s lap! We provide hours of entertainment to our foster mom just watching us play. We are pretty typical puppies - we eat, sleep, play, and then start all over again. We have so much love to give and we are ready to go to our new forever homes! We will not be adopted in to homes with small children because we are so small. We are up-to-date on our puppy shots and we have been dewormed. We have already had a check up by the veterinarian. Our records will accompany us to our new homes. Email is the best method of contact . Adoption applications can be found on our rescue website Carolinacaninerescuenc.com

Story
Rocky is a 16 month old male neutered Shih Tzu mix. He’s a fun and happy guy with a lot of energy! He loves to play fetch with his favorite toys, go on walks, and he’s eager to learn and please! Rocky is super smart and has picked up on basic commands such as sit, come, stay, lie down, and go to crate. He even “asks” to be let up on the sofa when it’s time to relax at the end of the day. Rocky thrives on routine and structure. We are looking for a savvy adopter who will continue to provide Rocky with a structured environment to ensure his success in his new home! Rocky gets along well with other dogs, but can be a little pushy if a dog is very timid. We have not cat tested him. He will not be allowed to go to a home with children even though he seems to really adore them. He is crate trained and house trained. Rocky has a few behavior issues we are happy to discuss with a potential adopter but we are confident his issues can be overcome! We will require training classes with a reputable dog trainer when he is adopted to ensure his good behavior is reinforced.

Story
This precious little girl is called Tristen, a beauty that is seeking a person that understands her past and wants to change her future.  This beautiful girl is only a year old and 15 pounds of such potential and yet complex emotions.  She was found on the side of a rural road in a crate and no one in sight.  She was ragged and long in need of a groom as a beautiful Shih Tzu lurked underneath all the mats. She was angry and we understand why….or do we?  She lived some sort of neglectful life with indifferent people who eventually and cruelly just threw her away.  She desires love because don’t we all?  She will growl as if to ward you off but deep down she is just wanting you to see beyond her tough exterior growl and to love her.  She isn’t really biting but she can make that scary growl while all the time scooting close to you for a pet and some love.  Confused?  Yes she is trying to figure out if she can trust some of these new humans in her life because the past humans were not nice.   This girl is so young and so easy to truly convince that her short life of no love is all just something in the rearview mirror for her.  We have transported her to a loving foster who understands the confused ones who send mixed signals.  This girl is destined to be a gem and a treasure and to one day lay down the growl and never do it again.  Until then, we are seeking an experienced human who knows that Tristen just wants love while seeming to push you away  and hoping that you don’t run.    She is housetrained…. Bravo Tristen and she can be crated but really not necessary if you are gone.  She is good with other dogs and she is living with cats although she will bark at them just to be sassy.  She is shaved down for obvious reasons and she is seeking a strong and loving family who will be patient as she learns to leave her old self at the door and put on the new self as she enters your home.  If you are interested, so are we!  Contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com   A calm and mature home is best for her….no children under the age of 12 please.   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMay 11, 2024, 12:11 pm

Story
Lil’ Ole’ Spud is a gentle soul. He is a Shih Tzu/Poodle mix weighing in at about 10 lbs. He is approximately 9-10 years old. Spud was found stray and was never reclaimed by his owners. He came to Homes Fur Hounds in pretty rough shape. He had various infections, and his hair was terribly long and matted. He is hearing and visually impaired. Clearing up the secondary infection in his eyes helped, but his eyesight will likely not improve, and it is possible he will lose his sight completely at some point. We are hoping an appointment with a specialist can tell us more. Blind dogs just need some time and patience to adjust, but usually do just fine in the right home. His back end is a bit weak too. Some of that muscle may build back up as his nutrition continues to improve, but he is not going to be a long walk or hike kinda guy. Short strolls or backyard wanders are much more his speed. When he does wander outside, he takes his time going potty. He usually goes more than once before he's done. He does have a heart murmur, so he requires minimal activity. Spud is now neutered, UTD on all vaccines, free of infections, and microchipped. He is looking for a quiet home with limited stimuli. He is still getting used to losing his sight so a lot of activity makes him nervous. Especially movement around his face. He does fine with other gentle pets with a slow introduction. Young children or active, playful pets will not be very good for Spud. A home with stairs will not be great for him, but as long as his new family is willing to carry him it will be fine. A few baby gates may be needed to avoid him taking a tumble. Spud is a pretty good eater and sleeper. He does need his food softened though; he doesn’t have many teeth left. He loves to sleep in a soft bed. He will go in a crate, but he doesn’t love it. He does much better being confined in a room where he can move around. He is perfectly happy in his foster's kitchen when they are not home. He has not been destructive or chewed anything in his foster home. Spud does bark on occasion when he wants to get your attention or smells your yummy food, but not really a random yapper. He is also doing great with his housebreaking. Someone with a regular routine will be perfect for him in this area. The only thing Spud really hates is having his face touched. Yikes….he really freaks out when you go near his face. You can stroke him gently if you move slowly toward him, but any intentional movement toward his eyes, ears or mouth is not something he tolerates. He doesn’t really like his feet touched either. Aside from that, he is a super chill little guy looking for the right place to live his best life. If you are interested in meeting this little guy and giving him a wonderful quiet home our application can be found at www.homesfurhounds.org.
