Story
Betty & Rue – The Golden Girls You Didn’t Know You Needed Picture this: late one evening, a tiny red dachshund is found tucked under a car in a stranger’s driveway. Cold. Alone. Unsure. That little redhead was **Betty**. The very next morning, as her Good Samaritan was walking her safely in the yard, they heard a commotion at the gate… and there was **Rue** — a scrappy little chihuahua mix — desperately trying to get back to her best friend. No coincidence. No question. These girls belong together. And just like that, the Golden Girls were reunited. Meet Betty A purebred red dachshund, approximately 8 years young. She’s got that classic dachshund personality — loyal, expressive, just a little dramatic (rain? absolutely not), and deeply devoted to her people. Meet Rue Her 8-year-old chihuahua mix sidekick. Where Betty goes, Rue follows. She’s sweet, spunky, and makes sure her girl is never alone again. In true chihuahua fashion, she likes to make your entrance known by yapping with excitement. The Important Details *Both are girls are spayed *Both have had extensive dentals with the loss of several teeth but that has not slowed them down at all! *Crate trained *Mostly house trained when kept on a schedule (But yes… if it’s raining, expect some dachshund-level negotiations.) *Food motivated (training? yes please. Snacks? absolutely.) *Good with kids, other dogs, and likely cats (we’re happy to test!) *Certified professional cuddlers Their Personalities? SUPER sweet. Ridiculously funny. Deeply devoted. The kind of dogs who melt into you on the couch and make you feel like you’ve been chosen. They love their people in that wholehearted, follow-you-from-room-to-room kind of way. They’re easy, affectionate, and happiest simply being near their humans — ideally curled up together like the little bonded cinnamon rolls they are. These two have already been through the confusion of being left behind once. They found their way back to each other. Now they just need a family who will never let them go again. If you’ve been thinking about adopting but can’t choose between two adorable seniors… the universe already decided for you. Betty & Rue. The Golden Girls. Double the love. Zero regrets. Story
Chip is an adorable 1 1/2 year-old, 10 pound Yorkie mix.  Chip's coat is coarse, which means low maintenance and low-to-no shed.   Chip is all terrier and an active and athletic little guy. He is quick and will dart for an open door, so his adoptive home needs to be prepared to manage a young dog and around outside doorways. When Chip came to us, he was unsure but learned to trust his foster mother and other women quickly; at the same time, he is slower to warm up to men.  Chip’s new owner needs to be patient and give Chip time to decompress until he becomes more secure in his new home.  Chip doesn’t mind being crated and is good at entertaining himself with toys. Like most terriers, Chip will bark when there is something to bark about.  He would be a great candidate for someone who wants to do clicker training and a good companion for a walker.  Chip is a dog you need to keep busy or he will figure out how to do that himself! The ideal home for Chip would be with someone who has experience dealing with unsure dogs and understands going slow and moving at Chip’s pace, and wants to bond with a dog through training and enrichment activities.  Chip will do best being the only dog in the home. The adoption range for this dog is limited to NC, SC, VA and East TN. If you are interested in adopting this dog, contact h2hadoptions@gmail.com. There is an application process and adoption fee. WE REQUIRE AN ALL-ADULT HOME WITH A SECURELY FENCED YARD.  The secure fence must be at least 4 feet with gaps no larger than 1 1/4 inch and attached to the home.  An invisible fence, enclosed patio or terrace without grass, temporary fencing, dog pens or dog lots or community shared fencing (dog park) are NOT considered secure fencing. If your fencing has "puppy pickets" (or is supplemented with garden fencing), it needs to be at least 36 inches high from the ground up AT THE LOWEST POINT. No exceptions. We are an all-volunteer organization, and in addition to saving dogs, we have other responsibilities, so we appreciate your patience and understanding during this process. Response time can take up to 5 business days. Please inquire only if you are willing to come to Greensboro, NC to meet the dog after we schedule your home visit. We do not ship dogs or put them on transports. Veterinary Care: All Hart-2-Heart Rescue foster dogs are spayed/neutered, current on heartworm prevention, parvo/distemper, bordetella, and rabies vaccines, and are professionally groomed. As needed, our foster dogs have teeth cleanings, extractions, bloodwork and other diagnostic testing. Adoption Fee: $500January 7, 2026, 5:41 pm

Story
The adoption range for this dog is limited to NC, SC, VA and East TN. If you are interested in adopting this dog, you MUST contact h2hadoptions@gmail.com directly. There is an application process and adoption fee. ----------- Rosie is a 4-year-old Yorkie/Maltese mix who weighs around 10 lbs.  Rosie has a calm spirit and a unique personality. If you ever thought to yourself, I would love to have a dog who acts like a cat, Rosie is your girl! She is content to lie near you on the couch; however, she is not a lap dog. She will lay at the foot of the bed, on the second pillow, or peacefully in her crate at night. Her favorite toy is a Nyla bone and the occasional piece of crushed ice. She is proudly not a high-maintenance pup. Rosie came from a hoarding situation with over 29 dogs in the home, hence her unique personality. Rosie really watches and learns from the dogs in her foster home.  We prefer her adoptive home have another small social dog, not larger than 15 pounds. Rosie has good energy around other dogs and often gets into the dog beds or an open crate with them. She looks to the other dogs to see how they react when experiencing something new.  Rosie is cautious around new people, especially men, so it will take time for her to warm up. We are asking for an all-female home for Rosie. During her time with us, she has shown she only responds to women and will not go out the door with a man to go potty. She's not an attention seeker but will definitely capture your heart. She has a peaceful presence. Whoever adopts Rosie will need to understand her “breeder pup” issues and be willing to give the space she needs. Rosie has come so far, but it has taken time. Rosie is crate trained and doing very well with leash walking; in fact, she looks forward to her daily walks.  We require a securely fenced yard for Rosie so she can have the opportunity to be safely supervised in her own yard, plus a fenced yard is an added layer of safety, because Rosie is quick! The first few months in her foster home Rosie tended to run away when scared instead of to her foster mom. That’s the breeder pup in her. Rosie requires weekly combing even though her hair does not mat easily. Her hair does grow fast, so her adopter needs to be up for frequent grooming.  The adoption range for this dog is limited to NC, SC, VA and East TN. If you are interested in adopting this dog, contact h2hadoptions@gmail.com. There is an application process and adoption fee.
