Story
Chip is an adorable 1 1/2 year-old, 10 pound Yorkie mix.  Chip is all terrier and an active, athletic little guy  He is quick and will dart for an open door, so his adoptive home needs to be prepared to manage a young dog and around outside doorways. When Chip came to us, he was unsure but learned to trust his foster mother and other women quickly; however, he is slower to warm up to men.  Chip’s new owner will need patience to let him decompress on his own time.  Chip doesn’t mind being crated and is good at entertaining himself with toys. Like most terriers, Chip will bark when there is something to bark about.  He would be a great candidate for someone who wants to do clicker training and a good companion for a walker.  Chip is a dog who you need to keep busy or he will figure out how to do that himself.   The ideal home for Chip would be someone with experience dealing with unsure dogs and understands going slow and moving at Chip’s comfort level, and wants to bond with a dog through training and enrichment activities.   Chip can be inappropriate when he meets new dogs, but he was found running at large with another small dog with whom he gets along nicely. They are not a bonded pair.  Chip's coat is coarse, which means low maintenance and low-to-no shed.   The adoption range for this dog is limited to NC, SC, VA and East TN. If you are interested in adopting this dog, contact h2hadoptions@gmail.com. There is an application process and adoption fee. WE REQUIRE AN ALL-ADULT HOME WITH A SECURELY FENCED YARD.  The secure fence must be at least 4 feet with gaps no larger than 1 1/4 inch and attached to the home.  An invisible fence, enclosed patio or terrace without grass, temporary fencing, dog pens or dog lots or community shared fencing (dog park) are NOT considered secure fencing. If your fencing has "puppy pickets" (or is supplemented with garden fencing), it needs to be at least 36 inches high from the ground up AT THE LOWEST POINT. No exceptions. We are an all-volunteer organization, and in addition to saving dogs, we have other responsibilities, so we appreciate your patience and understanding during this process. Response time can take up to 5 business days. Please inquire only if you are willing to come to Greensboro, NC to meet the dog after we schedule your home visit. We do not ship dogs or put them on transports. Veterinary Care: All Hart-2-Heart Rescue foster dogs are spayed/neutered, current on heartworm prevention, parvo/distemper, bordetella, and rabies vaccines, and are professionally groomed. As needed, our foster dogs have teeth cleanings, extractions, bloodwork and other diagnostic testing. Adoption Fee: $500June 22, 2025, 12:27 am

Story
Milo is a sweet 3 1/2-year-old Yorkie mix who weighs about 10 lbs. Milo's hair looks wiry, but it is actually soft.  He will need occasional grooming and is cooperative for baths and nail trims, so Milo would be easy for someone who prefers to groom their own dog.     Milo is an observant little guy, who loves his people. He gets along well with the other dogs in his foster home and is easy-going with them all. He could be an only dog or have another small dog in the home that weighs under 16 lbs.  Milo is smart and would thrive in a home where someone wants to do trick training, agility and/or nose work. He can get carsick, but initially with short frequent trips, we feel he can grow out of it.    Milo is crate trained and doing well with housetraining, at the same time, he will need someone committed to taking him out on a regular schedule.  Milo walks nicely on a leash and enjoys his daily walks in the neighborhood.  We are requiring a securely fenced yard for Milo so he can have the opportunity to play safely supervised in his own yard, a fenced yard helps with housetraining and most importantly it adds a layer of safety. Milo is clever, quick and curious, so his adoptive home needs to be mindful of door darting. The adoption range for this dog is limited to NC, SC, VA and East TN. If you are interested in adopting this dog, contact h2hadoptions@gmail.com. There is an application process and adoption fee. Story
Rosie is a 3-year-old Yorkie-Maltese mix who weighs 10 lbs. Rosie is a calm girl who loves her person. Rosie happily follows her foster mom around the home. She's shy but tends to bond tightly with a female, so a female household would be best for her. Rosie came from a hoarding situation with over 29 dogs in the home. Rosie really watches and learns from the dogs in her foster home.  Her adoptive home should preferably have another small social dog, no larger than 15 pounds. Rosie has good energy with other dogs and oftentimes gets in the dog beds or an open crate with them.  Rosie will be cautious around new people, especially men, so it will take time for her to warm up. She's not an attention seeker and not yet a lap dog, but she will definitely capture your heart. She has a peaceful presence. Rosie is crate trained and doing very well with housetraining and leash walking; in fact, she looks forward to her daily walks.  Rosie will require weekly combing, but thankfully, her hair does not mat easily. Her hair does grow fast, so her adopter needs to be up for frequent grooming. This allows Rosie the opportunity to play safely supervised in her own yard, helps with housetraining, and most importantly, it is an added layer of safety because Rosie is quick! Story
Peaches is a 2-3-year-old Maltese/Shih Tzu who weighs 9 lbs. Peaches is a happy and active little Maltizu. Peaches could be an only dog or have another dog in the home under 15 lbs. Peaches would do best with someone who can match her energy level.  Peaches is affectionate and gives kisses.  She runs like the wind both inside and outside. She is doing great with house and crate training.  Her foster parents have not started leash training.  Peaches is very quick and can get under your feet easily, so she is a trip hazard.  Peaches will require weekly combing at the same time, her hair is not the type that mats easily. Her hair is silky soft and would probably grow long if desired.    The adoption range for this dog is limited to NC, SC, VA and East TN.
