Story
After 3 years being in her home she was returned to us where it was discovered she had since tested positive for FELV. She is very loving, always there to greet you, chirp at you, she’s a big gamer and loves to sit on your lap while you’re gaming or watching tv. She does not like stinky doggies and perches high above them but is not aggressive and is great with kids! Shes a huge lover and just wants to find her forever. Felv isn’t as scary as it sounds and they can still live a long happy life. While she has tested positive she has had no flare ups or concerns since being in foster. Would you like to adopt this sweetheart? She’s been looking for her forever for 8 months now, could you be them?

Story
💕 Meet Sophie 💕 Sophie is a gentle, loving lady looking for a quiet home where she can take things at her own pace. While she's naturally shy and may retreat to a cozy hiding spot when things feel overwhelming, the real Sophie shines when she's curled up in your lap. Once settled, she'll reward you with enthusiastic purrs, sweet headbutts, and even the occasional tiny tongue blep while being pet. This low-key girl enjoys spending time around other cats, watching their antics from the sidelines, and gently batting at crinkle toys and rope toys. She's perfectly content with a peaceful routine, plenty of cozy nap spots, and a patient person who understands that trust takes time. Sophie has overcome some dental issues and manages her arthritis well. Her ideal home is calm, quiet, and free of young children. For someone willing to give her the chance to blossom, Sophie has all the makings of the perfect lap cat and devoted companion.

Story
Warrior was brought to a New York shelter by the police department along with 4 or 5 other cats after his owner passed away. We unfortunately don't even know Warrior's original name - all of the cats were named after basketball teams by the shelter staff. Journeys stepped in to help Warrior find a new home since the New York shelter was not an environment that would help him come out of his shell. We don't know what kind of home Warrior lived in before he was taken to the shelter, but we would venture to guess he was living with an older individual who did not spend much time with the cats. Poor Warrior continues to be terrified of people. He is hoping to find a foster home (possibly a foster to adopt home) that will be able to spend a lot of time helping him learn to trust people. He does seem to be great with other cats and having some friendly cats in a home could be a very good environment for him. Despite being extremely scared, he has always used his litterbox faithfully. Please contact Journeys at journeyscatrescue@gmail.com if you would be interested in fostering him.

Story
Say hello to Mallory! This extra chunky girl was adopted from us in 2022 and unfortunately returned when her owner could no longer care for her. Ms. Mallory was not the happiest returning to us and has had some difficulty adjusting to being here at the shelter. She is a little bit of a sassy girl and definitely makes it known when she is not in the mood for attention, but has generally been a little sweeter on our adoption floor! In fact, as she is so chubby and in need of some extra pounds off her, she is currently free roaming in our adoption building and making friends with staff and volunteers. Mallory has been excited to come up to visitors and will give a little meow even if she is not interested in getting a pet at that time. When she is in the mood for attention, though, she will happily rub against your legs and even your hand when she would like some scratches and pets. Mallory is not the biggest fan of having four paws off the ground but we do believe some of that is due to her size. This lady will need a dedicated and patient owner who will commit time to her care and diet. At this time, Mallory is still not able to clean her back end as well as she should be able to, and does need cleaned up occasionally if it is getting messy back there. She does also have a tendency to get a little matted in her hard to reach places and enjoys a good brushing. She would do best as the only kitty in her forever home and wants to be the princess of her home! Mallory is not good with dogs and does attempt to attack them when they enter her space. Mallory would do best in a home with children who will be respectful of her space and understand that she will need time to relax on her own. Stop in and visit Mallory if she is the kitty for you! Mallory is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped.

Story
Meet Nintendo! Nintendo arrived at Hillside with his brother, Sony, and their dog sibling after their family sadly lost their home. As a proud Siamese mix, Nintendo comes equipped with all the classic features: stunning looks, plenty of opinions, and just a touch of sass. Don't let the attitude fool you - underneath that "I make the rules around here" exterior is a cat who enjoys attention and being part of the action. He's an adult cat who is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and ready to find a kingdom worthy of his royal presence. Looking for a cat with personality to spare? Nintendo is ready to level up your life. Just remember, he's the one holding the controller.
