Story
Meet Shito  (Shishito if you’re feeling formal) - A big, lovable St. Bernard mix with a glow-up story that will absolutely steal your heart Shito’s beginning was heartbreaking. The first year of his life was spent confined to a tiny cage, living in his own waste. When his “owner” was charged with cruelty, he was then chained in the desert heat. Eventually, he and his siblings were cut loose—left to fend for themselves, scared and unsure of the world. When we got the call, we knew we had to help. After 10 long days, all six dogs were safely secured. And Shito? Despite everything… he chose trust. Today, he’s blossomed into an affectionate, goofy, treat-loving boy who’s learning to leave his past behind—one brush session at a time (his absolute favorite).  Perks Walks like a show pony on leash Sweet kisses and constant happy tail wags Food motivated—sits fast for snacks LOVES being brushed (spa day, every day) Gentle, goofy, and full of love Total heart-stealer with a soft, soulful nature  Needs Still learning that paws stay on the ground Not a fan of little kids (tiny feet can make him nervous) Must be the only dog in the home—he deserves to be your one-and-only  Ideal Home Shito would thrive in a loving, stable home that can continue guiding him while giving him all the affection he craves. He’s looking for someone who appreciates a big, gentle dog with a playful side—and who will continue reinforcing his manners and confidence. A home with older kids (or adults only) and lots of love will help him truly flourish. He's living proof that even the hardest beginnings can lead to the most beautiful futures... could you be the one to give him his forever? ##2163426##

Story
Meet Cayenne This stunning St. Bernard mix is living proof that resilience, love, and second chances can change everything. Cayenne’s beginning was unimaginable. She spent the first year of her life confined to a small cage, living in her own waste. When her “owner” was charged with animal cruelty, her situation changed—but not for the better. She was chained in the desert heat, left to endure the elements. When that owner was finally arrested, Cayenne and the other dogs were simply turned loose—forced to survive on their own, fearful and untouchable. That’s when A Way Home For Dogs stepped in. After a grueling 10 days, all were safely secured. And Cayenne? She chose love. Despite everything, her desire to trust, connect, and be loved never faded—and once safe, she blossomed into something truly special.  Perks Gentle giant with a heart of gold Loves affection—will happily soak up pets and give sweet kisses Friendly and social—rarely meets a person she doesn’t love Food motivated and eager to please Walks beautifully on leash Quick learner—already knows how to sit for treats Happy, tail-wagging energy that will make you smile  Needs Still learning her size—working on keeping all four paws on the ground Best with older children only (little feet can make her nervous) Needs to be the only dog in the home Will thrive with continued structure, guidance, and consistency  Ideal Home Cayenne would thrive in a loving, stable home that can continue building her confidence while giving her the affection she craves. She’d do best with an adopter who appreciates a big, loving dog and is committed to ongoing training and guidance. In return, she’ll give you unwavering loyalty, joy, and a whole lot of love. She may have had a heartbreaking beginning, but she’s ready for her forever—can you be the one to write her happy ending?  ##2162481##

Story
Clancy was originally part of a pack of ten young dogs dumped by a freeway ramp. Kind and committed rescuers eventually captured all ten dogs. They were all vetted and placed in temporary accommodations. The rescuers were overwhelmed and asked us for help. Although the dogs do not appear to be the type of dogs we usually support, we could not turn them away. Clancy is one of three dogs we agreed to support.Despite an uncertain past, Clancy is incredibly resilient and has not let anything dull her spark! She is dog savvy and now seeks out attention from people. She enjoys walks and playing with toys, toys, toys!Clancy is looking for a patient and loving family (or person!) who will show her that the world is a safe and wonderful place. She would thrive in a home that can offer plenty of playtime, someone able to take her for long walks two times a day. Even another doggy sibling could be good for her! In return, Clancy promises endless loyalty, tail wags, and a lifetime of gratitude.

Story
Phoenix is one of the lucky survivors of the Whittier, CA dog dumping who came into the care of LeoRescuePals. Phoenix is a young girl with a wonderful temperament and so much love to give. Phoenix is housebroken, crate trained, and on flea/tick prevention. She has been seen by a veterinarian and deemed healthy. She is estimated to be 1.5 years old. After spending time as a stray, she is working on slowly gaining a little bit of weight and getting comfortable with the good life. Phoenix is friendly, playful, sweet, and outgoing once she gets to know you. She can be a bit shy when she first meets someone and then warms up quickly—-and when she does, she really bonds. This is a girl who wants to be connected to her people. Because she has spent her entire life around other dogs, she is very comfortable with canine companionship and would likely enjoy having a calm, confident doggy friend in her forever home. DNA results show her to be about 50% Saint Bernard, 48% Belgian Malinois, 2% other. Phoenix is available through LeoRescuePals. Story
Meet Freya, one of the Whittier dogs who came into the care of LeoRescuePals after being dumped near a busy freeway in Whittier, CA. Freya definitely stands out from her siblings Clancy and Phoenix with her more Belgian Malinois-like appearance—and her DNA results confirmed it! Freya is 50% Belgian Malinois and 50% Saint Bernard, making her a unique combination of two very different breeds. She is the same age as the other dogs from this group: approximately 1.5 years old. Beneath that distinctive look is the same sweet personality as the other dogs in the group. Freya is sweet, outgoing, playful, and affectionate. She enjoys being around people and is always happy to make a new friend. And if there is one thing Freya would like you to know about her, it’s this: BELLY RUBS ARE THE BEST! Give her a little attention and she’ll soak it up! Freya is available through LeoRescuePals. To learn more about Freya or meet her in person, please contact LeoRescuePals, www.lrpals.org
