You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :) When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :) Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us! Meet Buddy – a big guy with an even bigger heart! This lovable lug is basically a 80-pound teddy bear covered in fur, with a tail that wags like it’s powered by joy alone. Buddy is the definition of friendly: he loves people, dogs, belly rubs, and anything that remotely resembles food. He might accidentally sit on your foot (or your lap), but it’s only because he’s convinced he’s a lap dog and also your new best friend. He’s on the lookout for a forever home where he can spread his love, show off his goofy grin, and maybe snore a little too loudly during naps. I love to run around in the yard, chase toys, and play with my friends. After Ive had my fun, Im just as happy to curl up right next to you (because being your shadow is kind of my specialty).Im actually really easy to walkI enjoy strolling along by your side and taking in all the smells. But dont let my polite leash skills fool youI also LOVE to zoom and romp when I get the chance! He had a rough start to life, but you wouldn't know it when meeting him. He is a sweet, affectionate boy who loves people and gets very excited to greet you whether you are gone all day or just 5 minutes. He is a high energy boy who would love to play in the yard or go for walks and hikes(but is not opposed to snuggling on the couch with a good bone) Butch would do well with older dog savvy children and with slow introductions he is also good with dogs. He has met cats and will chase if they run. He is 100% crate and house trained and working hard on his manners so he can be the best boy for his new family. Butch is utd on his vaccines, neutered, and chipped. Butch may look just like a St. Bernard, but he’s only about 65 pounds. The perfect size for any household. Blackberry is the kind of puppy who will steal your heart with his affectionate nature and his deep desire to be included in every moment of family life. He adores being around adults, children, and other dogs, soaking up all the love and companionship he can get. Blackberry is food motivated and treat enthusiastic (he loves his Hills Science food, mini milk bone biscuits, cheese, and kongs stuffed with peanut butter), which makes training a joy. He's already shown he's a smart cookie who needs and enjoys mental stimulation like working kongs and treat dispenser puzzle balls. He's making progress on potty training with fewer accidents each day, and while he still has his baby teeth and can get nippy and mouthy as puppies do, he's learning what's appropriate to chew on with proper supervision. His energy comes in delightful bursts throughout the day, followed by content naps on his puppy bed near his people. At night, he loves to sleep with company, settling in peacefully when he's not alone. Here's what Blackberry needs you to know: he really does not like to be alone. He will let you know with whines, howls, and his best protests that he wants to be part of the action. He's even shown his determination by breaking out of his crate because being separated from his family just isn't his style.
