Story
Meet Grizz Bear, the house hippo who has had a rough go of life already. Grizz was adopted from our rescue partner in June of this year, weighing 72 pounds at the time. In October, he was found severely emaciated - weighing only 47 pounds and eating a dead coyote to stay alive. In the last 5 weeks, he has regained weight and is back at 72 pounds! Grizz is the perfect example of why we work so hard to save dogs from the southwest. Many of the adopters there fail to provide safe and loving homes for their pups, with many of the dogs ending up being returned or back on the streets. Colorado adopters have a MUCH better track record of the providing safe, loving, and caring homes that these pups deserve! Grizz is ready to start his new life with the right adopter who will never let him suffer again! From his current foster: "Grizz Bear is a snuggle bug, you can find him on the couch or being super playful with his squeaky toys. He's a big doggo with a playful energetic spirit- he loves his morning routine filled with zoomies and spins. Grizzy is so smart and observant, he can sit and stay and is working on some other basic commands. He makes a good walking companion and loves to explore." From his former foster: "Hello Colorado! 2023 got me down, but I'm back and better than ever. I am a survivor, so I might need a minute to settle in and get comfortable but a little patience will pay off big time. My gratitude and loyalty shows up in kisses and protection from delivery drivers and rascally squirrels. But don't be fooled - under this svelte beige bombshell exterior I'm a big marshmallow looking for love. My foster family uses words like 'snuggle bug' and 'cuddle bear.' I don't know about that - I just like being around my people (aka on the couch while on your lap). I might be a big boy but put my leash on and I'll dance like a puppy! Every day is a good day when we go for walks, rides in the car and play with toys together. Let's talk about growth opportunities. I'm a modern dog and know there is a lot for me to learn. Sometimes I get so excited that I forget my manners. Treats are my best motivator. I'm healfy 'cause I love fruits and veggies! For anyone out there looking for a new best friend, someone to keep you active and keep you laughing, someone to warm your toes on these cold winter nights, I am that guy! And I can't wait to meet you." Not every dog attends every adoption event. Interested in this pup? The first step is to complete our online application by clicking the "Apply for Adoption" button. Please note that we are only able to finalize adoptions at events for approved adopters. The earlier you apply, the better as it takes time to review and approve applications. We host adoption events almost every Saturday from 10:00am to 1:00pm at our rescue office (1721 W Harmony, unit 102, Fort Collins, Co 80526)! Check our Instagram and/or Facebook page for info on where we will be hosting adoptions this weekend! All Aboard Animal Rescue saves dogs and puppies from high-kill shelters in other states. These pups are brought to Colorado, where they are required to be spayed or neutered - breaking the cycle of unwanted litters of puppies who end up as strays! Please consider supporting us in this mission by adopting, fostering, volunteering, or donating.

Story
BMO is my name and cuddlin' is my game! I was adopted 4 years ago when I was a baby and have been (for the most part) Good Dog ever since! Most of the time all I want to do is snuggle and sleep and chill. My favorite thing in the world is being with my humans 24/7.! I am used to cats and adult dogs, but puppies really annoy me! TBH, I'm nervous about new people and a lot of activity in my home. I’m house trained, good on a leash, etc, but like I said, I have anxiety around new people. In fact, when they come to the front door (which happens all the time where I live now), I get really bent out of shape and act crazytown until I get to know them (which doesn't take long, as long as my human helps me feel calm and let's me know it's OK). Unfortunately, I bit an Amazon driver once and everyone freaked out, but he’s fine and no one got sued. I just need an experienced human to help me stay calm. I need a calm environment and an experienced, calm human, rather than my hectic current home.
