Story
Bella is a 7 year old spayed English Stafford Terrier.  She is housetrained and is a wonderful companion. Bella has the stamina to enjoy a long hike or walk, but only requires a few short walks a day.  She can be incredibly fast!  When she needs to get energy out she relies on her zoomies, where she will run at top speed for about 3 minutes, and then she is tired out and content.  She loves to be around people and is a low maintenance dog who can curl up on a dog bed for hours on end.  She can be a bit nervous and timid in certain situations.  While fetch is not her thing, she loves to play with dog bones or dog toys.  She is a lover and gives an inordinate amount of licks.  Bella successfully finished a board and train program in 2021. She is a smart dog and has mastered her basic skills.  Bella sometimes spends time at doggie daycare, where she is great with other dogs and is a favorite of the staff.  Bella has been part of a loving family and is well cared for and up to date on her vetting.  She is not a barker, but will bark if someone is at the door or if she perceives a threat.   Bella can be a bit protective.  Her family is expanding and while she is very good with their children, the little ones have been making her nervous and her family has realized that she would do much better in a different environment, in a quieter home.   Her ideal home would have a fenced yard for her to roam in and lie in the sun.   Please email us at AlmostHome4Dogs@Yahoo.cim( for more information or an application. Local adoptions preferred — Philadelphia and tri-state area [South Jersey and northern Delaware] only.) PLEASE READ BEFORE CONTACTING US!  We are NOT a shelter: All of our dogs live in private homes with foster families. Come and meet the Almost Home dogs and their fosters at our Meet & Greet events, where you can learn more about our wonderful dogs from the people who live with them, find out which dogs are on their way and when they’ll arrive, and fill out an application to adopt or foster. We cannot adopt to homes where electric-shock fencing systems or training collars are used. For more information on the dangers of electric-shock collars, please visit banshockcollars.ca/studies.php and http://www.hollysden.com/say_no_to_shock.htm (scroll down and click on the  "Invisible Fencing Systems" link). We do not have an online adoption application; to request an application, e-mail us at AlmostHome4Dogs@yahoo.com. To speed e-mail processing time, be sure to note the name of the dog you are inquiring about in the Subject line. For Meet & Greet times and locations, visit our home page, where you also will find information on our adoption process and fees. FOSTER FAMILIES ARE LIFESAVERS!! Can you open your heart and home for a few weeks to homeless shelter dog? Remember, by fostering a dog, you save TWO lives — that of your foster dog, and that of the dog who takes his place in the shelter! Come to a Meet & Greet and find out if fostering is for you — there's no reward quite like the feeling that you've saved a life ... or two!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 30, 2024, 9:34 pm

Story
Dog:Paulie Age:5.5 Weight: 75 lbs Location: Hagerstown, MD Nicknames: Pauliewogs, Paulie D, Piddly Diddly Doo Good with other dogs?: Dog selective.Paulie has lived with a smaller female previously. He gets over stimulated however, so slow introductions WILL be necessary. He seems to like a smaller dog better. He does not know boundaries, so he is wanting to go face first right away. We are currently working on polite greetings. He would do best as an only dog as he loves attention and loves his humans. Good with cats? no Good with children? unknown, will not be adopted to a home with kids under 10 Activity Preference: Needs a couple walks a day., Needs in-house activities, Low maintenance overall but needs quality outside time., Will go with the flow, Champion couch potato IQ: Smart Paulie's favorite things: Paulie loves car rides, bones, treats, meal time, hanging on the couch with his humans, belly rubs, laying in the sun, walks to sniff around the neighborhood, sitting in a window to keep eyes on the neighborhood. Paulie is good at: meeting people, staying in a crate, behaving in the house, going for car rides, making me feel safe, walking on a leash, cuddling, following commands Ideal home: no children, quiet environment, someone at home most of the day, a fenced yard, Lots of exercise opportunities Training Needs: socialization with dogs Health issues: Paulie does seem to have a sensitive stomach, so sticking with his food, and meat treats is important. But he is getting better each week! Meet Paulie Paulie is literally “man’s best friend”. He has not met a human he did not like. He thrives off of human attention and loves quality time cuddling on the couch or just being by your side. He is a couch potato but gets spurts of energy and is always up for a walk. Paulie is extremely smart and picks up tricks and training so fast! He is food motivated so training has been easy. He loves treats and is gentle 90% of the time (10% when he is super excited he grabs quick, but not 'biting quick'). Paulie can be mischievous so when he's unattended he needs to be in his crate to keep him safe. He loves chasing squirrels in the backyard, and the occasional zoomie run around the yard too! Paulie is a big love bug and just wants to be your best friend. He loves his spot on the couch looking out the window keeping an eye on the neighborhood. PLEASE READ: Adopters will not be considered without completing an application. Story
Please contact Debbie (Deb@AmericanbulldogRescue.org) for more information about this pet.She is just precious!  Dog's Name: Galaxie Monroe Age: 3-4 years old, estimated dob: 7/22/2020 Weight: 58 lbs Location: Philadelphia, PA Nicknames: Gallie  Good with other dogs?: Yes. Good with cats? Lives with cats in her foster home but is very interested in chasing them.  She would make a cat miserable. Good with children? Unknown.  Will not be adopted to a home with very small children.  No children under about 10. Activity Preference: Yes please! Walks, zoomies, exploring the yard, naps. IQ: average Favorite Things: Loves to play, go on walks, chew a bone, suck on a blanket or soft toy, lay next to you. Good at: meeting people, meeting dogs, staying in a crate, behaving in the house, going for car rides, being tolerant of a dog who tries to bully her Ideal home: fenced yard, an adult home a lot, where she will get lots of exercise Training Needs: basic training,  She probably never lived in a home before.  Her foster is working with her to learn basic commands. Health issues: No health issues.   Meet Galexie: Gallie is a young lady who recently arrived a ABR.  She hasn't been with us very long and we still getting to know her.  We will update her bio as learn more.   She is such a good girl and a real sweetheart.  Her journey to Philadelphia was a long one with a plane plus lots of driving. When she arrived she was happy and friendly even though she must have been exhausted and confused.  She has been nothing but that same happy, friendly dog.  Gallie is a dainty girl with little girly paws, sparkling black eyes, and fur that is so soft you have to touch it.  She loves to be touching you and gives kisses freely. She is house and crate trained.  Galaxie follows direction... most of the time -nobody is perfect :) - with more consistency and training she will be pretty darn close!  She does great with other dogs and is pretty submissive.  If she were to have a canine companion in her forever home, a male with the same personality would be the best fit to be sure that Galaxie is not bullied.  We will require a fenced yard for her. We are still unsure about cats but will update on that soon.  Because we don't know for sure, we cannot say she can safely live with small children.  While she didn't like it she let her foster mom give her a bath, clean her ears, and cut her nails.  That is what we know so far.  Look for updates! Story
Maple was found as a stray running near Riverside ave in Ewing, NJ. She arrived in our care severely emaciated, lactating and had poor skin. She was not reclaimed and we were able to get her into much better health while in our care. Maple has the sweetest underbite and loves to roll over for belly rubs and give kisses. She has not been a big fan of dogs her size but enjoyed playing with a puppy she met. She’s been fairly uninterested in the kittens she’s met other than a lick here and there. She enjoys going for walks and army crawling through the grass. Despite the horrible condition and lack of care she was provided before arriving to us, she has completely forgiven humans and loves everyone she meets. She loves stuffy toys, especially ones that squeak, and snuggling up in her dog bed at the shelter. Adoption by appointment only with an approved adoption application. Please go to www.easelnj.org/adopt to submit an adoption application. Someone will be in touch within 48 hours.

Story
Mitzy is a charming brown and white Staffie mix who was found running loose by Animal Control. She is estimated to be about 1 year old and is about 60 pounds. Kennel life is stressful for Mitzy, and she desperately wants a home where she can relax and receive exercise and stimulation in a structured manner. She loves people, has done well with other dogs, and appears to be housebroken. Adoption by appointment only with an approved adoption application. Please go to www.easelnj.org/adopt to submit an adoption application. Someone will be in touch within 48 hours.

Story
Our girl Faith was left in a kill shelter in KY.  She had rescue but they backed out when they heard she was a little too "interested" in cats.  Faith is ultra submissive and will roll over & give her belly for anyone.  There is not a mean bone in this girl's body - but she does have issues with CERTAIN men. She's about 10 years old & plays appropriately with other dogs big & small and is bunkmates with MJ on our site (who is 1/2 her size).  We would consider her med energy but has much love to give! Because of her fear aggression when it comes to most men, we cannot bring her to adoption events so an appt would need to be made to meet her. Our adoption fee is $325 and all of our pets come with full vet records. All animals are up to date on vaccinations & dewormed. Unless otherwise indicated, puppies are NOT spayed or neutered since our vet recommends waiting until 6mos of age to do so. Please keep in mind we are a Rescue Group and most of our pups come to us with little or no background info regarding breed, eventual size, age or prior health issues. We rely on the expertise of our veterinarians and make estimates based on past experience. Also, when you're adopting from a Rescue, you should ask questions! You should always get shot/medication records and the rescue should have had the dog for a bit of time to check for disease. Take the time to educate yourself before adopting. A reputable rescue will have nothing to hide and will answer ALL your questions!!! Please visit our Web Site to see all of the pets we have for adoption. Our site contains information about our adoption process and fees, our application, and answers to frequently asked questions. Please read it carefully before contacting us. If you are interested in adopting THIS wonderful pet, we strongly encourage you to complete our adoption application now. Once we receive and approve your application, we will notify you of approval. The first application to be received and approved will get 1st choice - be sure that your references are available and willing to speak with us. Thank You Visit us at one of our next events. Story
Hey there! The names Moose, nice to meet you! I love being around people and making new friends, I'm what they call a social butterfly. As much as I love making new friends I'm also what they call a couch potato! So if you're looking for a pup that can be lazy some days and adventurous the next, I am your man! I hear pictures can add 10lbs, in my case they don't do my size justice. I'm a big boy, almost 100 lbs of pure love! Don't let my size scare you, I'm a big baby. If you have room in your heart (and bed) for a fella like me, give my friends a call! The Center for Animal Health and Welfare, PA Kennel License #02941, 1165 Island Park Rd, Easton, PA 18042
