Story
Hope is… so appropriately named. When you first meet Hope, she shows off her timid side, but only for a few minutes. Despite her ever wagging tail, she will make herself small in size until she can no longer contain her inquisitive mind and affectionate heart. Full of courage and love, she quickly transforms herself into a complete and total clown (you will forever have a smile on your face). Once she settles in and unleashes her goofy, larger than life personality, you begin to feel… well, the joy is equivalent to the joy you felt over finding the in-box cereal prize before someone else did. Or… the way you feel when you get a hole in one at the end of a competitive game of golf.  So what is Hope made of? Happy zoomies Spin as fast as she can circles Tossing her toys into the air Back and belly scratches make her weak in the knees Athleticism - girls got great muscles ♥ Short, stout and absolutely adorable Affectionate with a gentle spirit It’s easy to tell she is going to completely adore her ‘person’ and will truly love being a part of a family. What is Hope working on? Building additional confidence on leash and learning about new experiences Car rides are still a little scary for this compact little lady, so she’s getting extra practice while her foster family runs to activities  www.mostlymuttz.org Great with dogs, children Could be cat tested if needed Fenced in yard not required 95% house trained Crate trained (and quiet while crated) #mostlymuttzrescue #hope #staffordshirebullterrierlovers #adoptable #sillygirl #zoomieextraordinaire #shybutworthit Hope is being fostered in Exeter (Berks County), Pennsylvania). Story
Affectionate, Playful, Smart, Funny, Athletic, Loves Kisses Kiano is a high energy adolescent pup who was found in an emaciated state with a broken tail tied to a park bench in South Philly in March 2023. After an intense re-feeding program and a tail amputation as well as all of his other medical care, Kiano began to shine! He has mastered “potty bells” and knows to ring them to let his humans know he needs to go out. He has learned basic commands and how to socialize with other dogs and a cat. He is still working on leash manners but is making strides. He still has some puppy dog mouthy behaviors to work on but is an eager student. Like most young dogs, he is high energy and up for all kinds of fun! He is looking for a home where he can continue to grow and master behaviors to be his best well mannered self! He loves balls, sprinklers and playing with other dogs! Please fill out our Adoption Application. Once you are approved to adopt, a time to meet Kiano can be arranged with his foster!

Story
Bella is a 7 year old spayed English Stafford Terrier.  She is housetrained and is a wonderful companion. Bella has the stamina to enjoy a long hike or walk, but only requires a few short walks a day.  She can be incredibly fast!  When she needs to get energy out she relies on her zoomies, where she will run at top speed for about 3 minutes, and then she is tired out and content.  She loves to be around people and is a low maintenance dog who can curl up on a dog bed for hours on end.  She can be a bit nervous and timid in certain situations.  While fetch is not her thing, she loves to play with dog bones or dog toys.  She is a lover and gives an inordinate amount of licks.  Bella successfully finished a board and train program in 2021. She is a smart dog and has mastered her basic skills.  Bella sometimes spends time at doggie daycare, where she is great with other dogs and is a favorite of the staff.  Bella has been part of a loving family and is well cared for and up to date on her vetting.  She is not a barker, but will bark if someone is at the door or if she perceives a threat.   Bella can be a bit protective.  Her family is expanding and while she is very good with their children, the little ones have been making her nervous and her family has realized that she would do much better in a different environment, in a quieter home.   Her ideal home would have a fenced yard for her to roam in and lie in the sun.   Please email us at AlmostHome4Dogs@Yahoo.cim( for more information or an application. Local adoptions preferred — Philadelphia and tri-state area [South Jersey and northern Delaware] only.) PLEASE READ BEFORE CONTACTING US!  We are NOT a shelter: All of our dogs live in private homes with foster families. Come and meet the Almost Home dogs and their fosters at our Meet & Greet events, where you can learn more about our wonderful dogs from the people who live with them, find out which dogs are on their way and when they’ll arrive, and fill out an application to adopt or foster. We cannot adopt to homes where electric-shock fencing systems or training collars are used. For more information on the dangers of electric-shock collars, please visit banshockcollars.ca/studies.php and http://www.hollysden.com/say_no_to_shock.htm (scroll down and click on the  "Invisible Fencing Systems" link). We do not have an online adoption application; to request an application, e-mail us at AlmostHome4Dogs@yahoo.com. FOSTER FAMILIES ARE LIFESAVERS!! Can you open your heart and home for a few weeks to homeless shelter dog? Remember, by fostering a dog, you save TWO lives — that of your foster dog, and that of the dog who takes his place in the shelter! Come to a Meet & Greet and find out if fostering is for you — there's no reward quite like the feeling that you've saved a life ... or two!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 27, 2024, 10:22 pm

Story
Dog:Paulie Age:5.5 Weight: 75 lbs Location: Hagerstown, MD Nicknames: Pauliewogs, Paulie D, Piddly Diddly Doo Good with other dogs?: Dog selective.Paulie has lived with a smaller female previously. He gets over stimulated however, so slow introductions WILL be necessary. He seems to like a smaller dog better. He does not know boundaries, so he is wanting to go face first right away. We are currently working on polite greetings. He would do best as an only dog as he loves attention and loves his humans. Good with cats? no Good with children? unknown, will not be adopted to a home with kids under 10 Activity Preference: Needs a couple walks a day., Needs in-house activities, Low maintenance overall but needs quality outside time., Will go with the flow, Champion couch potato IQ: Smart Paulie's favorite things: Paulie loves car rides, bones, treats, meal time, hanging on the couch with his humans, belly rubs, laying in the sun, walks to sniff around the neighborhood, sitting in a window to keep eyes on the neighborhood. Paulie is good at: meeting people, staying in a crate, behaving in the house, going for car rides, making me feel safe, walking on a leash, cuddling, following commands Ideal home: no children, quiet environment, someone at home most of the day, a fenced yard, Lots of exercise opportunities Training Needs: socialization with dogs Health issues: Paulie does seem to have a sensitive stomach, so sticking with his food, and meat treats is important. But he is getting better each week! Meet Paulie Paulie is literally “man’s best friend”. He has not met a human he did not like. He thrives off of human attention and loves quality time cuddling on the couch or just being by your side. He is a couch potato but gets spurts of energy and is always up for a walk. Paulie is extremely smart and picks up tricks and training so fast! He is food motivated so training has been easy. He loves treats and is gentle 90% of the time (10% when he is super excited he grabs quick, but not 'biting quick'). Paulie can be mischievous so when he's unattended he needs to be in his crate to keep him safe. He loves chasing squirrels in the backyard, and the occasional zoomie run around the yard too! Paulie is a big love bug and just wants to be your best friend. He loves his spot on the couch looking out the window keeping an eye on the neighborhood. PLEASE READ: Adopters will not be considered without completing an application. Story
Please contact Debbie (Deb@AmericanbulldogRescue.org) for more information about this pet.She is just precious!  Dog's Name: Galaxie Monroe Age: 3-4 years old, estimated dob: 7/22/2020 Weight: 58 lbs Location: Philadelphia, PA Nicknames: Gallie  Good with other dogs?: Yes. Good with cats? Lives with cats in her foster home but is very interested in chasing them.  She would make a cat miserable. Good with children? Unknown.  Will not be adopted to a home with very small children.  No children under about 10. Activity Preference: Yes please! Walks, zoomies, exploring the yard, naps. IQ: average Favorite Things: Loves to play, go on walks, chew a bone, suck on a blanket or soft toy, lay next to you. Good at: meeting people, meeting dogs, staying in a crate, behaving in the house, going for car rides, being tolerant of a dog who tries to bully her Ideal home: fenced yard, an adult home a lot, where she will get lots of exercise Training Needs: basic training,  She probably never lived in a home before.  Her foster is working with her to learn basic commands. Health issues: No health issues.   Meet Galexie: Gallie is a young lady who recently arrived a ABR.  She hasn't been with us very long and we still getting to know her.  We will update her bio as learn more.   She is such a good girl and a real sweetheart.  Her journey to Philadelphia was a long one with a plane plus lots of driving. When she arrived she was happy and friendly even though she must have been exhausted and confused.  She has been nothing but that same happy, friendly dog.  Gallie is a dainty girl with little girly paws, sparkling black eyes, and fur that is so soft you have to touch it.  She loves to be touching you and gives kisses freely. She is house and crate trained.  Galaxie follows direction... most of the time -nobody is perfect :) - with more consistency and training she will be pretty darn close!  She does great with other dogs and is pretty submissive.  If she were to have a canine companion in her forever home, a male with the same personality would be the best fit to be sure that Galaxie is not bullied.  We will require a fenced yard for her. We are still unsure about cats but will update on that soon.  Because we don't know for sure, we cannot say she can safely live with small children.  While she didn't like it she let her foster mom give her a bath, clean her ears, and cut her nails.  That is what we know so far.  Look for updates!
