Story
We got Bella from someone else who didn’t have time for her, she is about 7 months old. While we do have time for her we also have cats and while she doesn’t always try to get them it does still happen, but at random. She would be a great farm dog since she is part Coonhound, she’s got a lot of energy and while I do try to tire her out throughout the day she still has constant energy and ends up over grooming her paws out of boredom and has gotten hot spots (gone now) on her back legs. She’s got a lead outside since we don’t have a fence, but she understands it has a limit and gets upset so a fenced yard would also work best for her. She is very sweet, loves everyone she meets and just wants to be near you. I’ve seen her be good with other dogs just hyper, but would be better off in a home without any cats. While we do enjoy her, we’ve had our cats far longer and prioritize their safety and happiness. No fee for Bella and she comes with everything; cage, toys, food, etc.

Story
Meet George — your future best friend and full-time entertainment manager! George is a 1-year-old Schnauzer–Poodle mix (aka a Schnoodle, which means he’s 50% smart, 50% goofy, and 100% adorable). This energetic, happy guy is always on the move and always ready to make you laugh. If you’ve been hoping for a dog with personality for days, George delivers. George is super friendly and very funny, with a zest for life that’s contagious. He gets along great with other dogs and enjoys having canine pals to play with. He’s also been curious but respectful around a cat and did really well—definitely a promising sign for a multi-pet home. This Schnoodle would thrive with an active family who enjoys walks, playtime, and maybe a little zoomies entertainment in the backyard. Because George loves to run, explore, and burn off that happy energy, a fenced-in yard is preferred so he can safely play to his heart’s content. He will need regular grooming care as well.  If you’re looking for a smart, social, fun-loving companion who will keep you smiling and moving, George is ready to schnoodle his way into your heart The adoption fee of $450 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe breed, since our pups all come from shelters we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed! *please note that we are a foster home based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Thank you for your understanding.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 7, 2026, 4:55 pm

Story
Fuzzy is a 1 yr old Poodle mix who was abandoned by his family and spent several weeks outside fending for himself. He is a shy boy with new people and is definitely afraid of men. He is very gentle and will do best in a quiet home. He must have an escape-proof SECURE FENCED IN YARD in his new home.. No exceptions, NO UNDERGROUND FENCING- and we will check the yard before adoption. We are not looking for a senior adopter for this young dog and he would probably be best with older children or adults. He is ok with other friendly dogs. Please submit an application at pawshs.org and NOT a Petfinder inquiry as they may not be answered due to the volume of these inquiries received. Our adoption fees include the cost of spaying/neutering, vaccinations (including rabies for cats / dogs over 4 months of age), flea prevention, worming, FeLV/FIV testing, heartworm test for dogs over 1 yrs old, and microchipping.
