You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thanks for your interest in a pet from A.R.F.! If you see a pet here, they are still available for adoption and you should apply through our adoption application on our website at  https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application/   This dog is a 4-5 year old female Standard Poodle who weighs in at 48.8 pounds.  This dog's adoption fee is $600.  If you are still interested, please read more below. This girl’s name is actually Nella. She came to us as a male, 1 year old, golden doodle named Lenny, but surprise she is a girl! The vet also believes she is actually a standard poodle and about 4-5 years old. She is a very gentle, sweet girl, but still very scared of life. She likes to stay in her spot all day unless she goes for a walk. She does great walking on leash, and she loves to walk her same path everyday, multiple times a day! She also loves any sort of edible chew toy that you give her. Nella girl loves to be brushed; it puts her right to sleep!! Because we don’t know her exact story, we have been learning some of her triggers as we go. She is still very nervous with just about everything! It will take her time to settle in. We think there must have been some trauma for her with cars, because she is still nervous around them. She prefers women and has adjusted better to women in the house versus men. Nella has very specific routines that she likes to follow, but she is a very sweet girl!! She would do best in a home without kids, because she likes to be in a quiet, peaceful environment. She doesn’t mind other dogs as long as they happily ignore her, but she isn’t one for really engaging with them. If you have the time, patience, and love to let her settle in on her own time, she would be a great dog for you! She is fully crate-trained, house-trained, and leash-trained! This dog is microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations, housebroken, and spayed.  This dog's family will be required to complete a basic obedience course of their choosing.  A meeting will not be scheduled until you have an approved application, so if you are interested in adopting this dog, fill out an Online Application today!  Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will contact you to arrange a meeting.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.   Thank you for considering a rescue pet from A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation! We are  based in Wheaton, IL and conduct adoption events in the DuPage County area. If you are interested in adopting one of our pets, please submit an adoption application at https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application/  Adoption appointments are scheduled based on the order of applications received, so submit your application early! Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions or schedule meetings until your application has been approved. More information about our adoption process can be found on our website here: https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/ As an all-volunteer, foster home-based organization, A.R.F. Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit our animals. Please visit https://www.arf-il.org/events/ for a list of our upcoming adoption events.  Thank you for choosing to adopt, not shop! March 7, 2026, 1:30 pm

Story
Odin is a loving, loyal companion who will be your devoted shadow. He's a true velcro dog who loves very hard. Odin is a large poodle Rottie X that came out this way from California years ago. His owner was not able to give him the proper care and enrichment he needed because of her work schedule and so she left him in our care. We came to know him as a bouncy, sweet, at times protective and even complex boy. He cherishes outdoor adventures, going on long walks, and he's well-trained with great leash manners. We have him crate-trained, potty-trained, good in the car, enjoys playing with his dog pals, and does well in boarding. Odin is a pretty neat and easy dog in the home aside from his tendency to resource guard some things such as couches/beds and high value items. We have spent many hours working with him and believe he is in a great behavioral place to find a home. Odin is very selective with strangers and is a bite risk towards unsuspecting people that push him past his comfort zone. He has undergone training to make him safer around others and has no problem wearing a basket muzzle when socializing or out in public. He has very good leash manners and won't go out of his way to bother any passersby. Odin will be an amazing best friend for a single man or woman, even a couple that can keep up with his rules and boundaries. He CANNOT live with little children and CANNOT live with cats. Odin would do fine with a playful female dog and can have one as a housemate. He may even enjoy a passive playful male. Odin will be protective of his territory and his people. Due to that drive in his nature he is part of our behavioral dog post adoption support program. We will always be available to support the owner that takes this special dog home. If you're looking for a devoted companion who will give you his whole heart and be your adventure buddy, Odin is ready to be your best friend! Story
Pablo is a joyful, loving, very friendly puppy who is guaranteed to make you smile. Currently about 5 months old and weighing 42 lbs, Pablo is believed to be a doodle / Great Pyrenees mix, so he’s expected to grow into a large, fluffy, handsome boy. With that coat comes the need for regular grooming—and Pablo happily obliges, especially if belly rubs or brushing are involved! Pablo is house-broken and does all of his business outside like a champ. He sleeps in a kennel at night and when his foster family is out of the house. While he may protest a bit at first (a few puppy barks), he settles in quickly and does well. He’s used to being kenneled only a couple times a week for short periods (no more than 4 hours). True to his nickname, Pablo is your classic velcro pup—he loves to follow his people around and be their shadow, always nearby to check in and soak up affection. He’s playful and fun-loving and is all in for games like fetch, tug-of-war, and puppy romps. He also gets adorable zoomies, racing happily through the house before flopping down for a well-earned nap. Being a puppy, Pablo believes that anything left on the floor (especially shoes and slippers!) is fair game, so adopters should be prepared to puppy-proof and help guide him as he grows. He already knows how to sit and is very motivated by treats—especially ice cubes, which he thinks are the best reward ever. On leash, Pablo does great. He walks well, enjoys stopping to take in the scenery, and shows excellent manners when other dogs pass by—no barking, just tail wags and a big happy smile. While there are no resident dogs in his foster home, he’s been friendly with neighbors’ dogs and has shown no signs of aggression. A canine sibling would likely be a wonderful bonus for him, but it’s not a requirement. As for cats, he has not been exposed, so their compatibility is unknown. Because of his larger size and playful energy, Pablo would do best in a home with no small children. A fenced yard would be ideal to give him space to run and play, though he currently does just fine with leash walks. Pablo is used to having someone home most of the day, and given his young age, a home where he won’t be left alone for long stretches would be best for his continued confidence and development. Overall, Pablo is a fantastic, happy, affectionate puppy with so much love to give. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will follow you everywhere, play hard, cuddle harder, and grow into an amazing family dog—Pablo Escobark is ready to steal your heart.   If you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application  . Your application will be reviewed by our team and if it is a good fit, we will send to the foster family to set up a meet! The adoption fee of $600 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe breed, since our pups all come from shelters we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed! *please note that we are a foster home based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Thank you for your understanding.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 23, 2026, 3:39 pm
