Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thanks for your interest in a pet from A.R.F.! If you see a pet here, they are still available for adoption and you should apply through our adoption application on our website at  https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application/   This dog is a 4-5 year old female Standard Poodle who weighs in at 48.8 pounds.  This dog's adoption fee is $600.  If you are still interested, please read more below. This girl’s name is actually Nella. She came to us as a male, 1 year old, golden doodle named Lenny, but surprise she is a girl! The vet also believes she is actually a standard poodle and about 4-5 years old. She is a very gentle, sweet girl, but still very scared of life. She likes to stay in her spot all day unless she goes for a walk. She does great walking on leash, and she loves to walk her same path everyday, multiple times a day! She also loves any sort of edible chew toy that you give her. Nella girl loves to be brushed; it puts her right to sleep!! Because we don’t know her exact story, we have been learning some of her triggers as we go. She is still very nervous with just about everything! It will take her time to settle in. We think there must have been some trauma for her with cars, because she is still nervous around them. She prefers women and has adjusted better to women in the house versus men. Nella has very specific routines that she likes to follow, but she is a very sweet girl!! She would do best in a home without kids, because she likes to be in a quiet, peaceful environment. She doesn’t mind other dogs as long as they happily ignore her, but she isn’t one for really engaging with them. If you have the time, patience, and love to let her settle in on her own time, she would be a great dog for you! She is fully crate-trained, house-trained, and leash-trained! This dog is microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations, housebroken, and spayed.  This dog's family will be required to complete a basic obedience course of their choosing.  A meeting will not be scheduled until you have an approved application, so if you are interested in adopting this dog, fill out an Online Application today!  Once your application has been approved, an ARF volunteer will contact you to arrange a meeting.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.   Thank you for considering a rescue pet from A.R.F.-Animal Rescue Foundation! We are  based in Wheaton, IL and conduct adoption events in the DuPage County area. If you are interested in adopting one of our pets, please submit an adoption application at https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/application/  Adoption appointments are scheduled based on the order of applications received, so submit your application early! Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal but does get you a head start with the adoption approval process. Due to a high volume of applications, we are often unable to respond to questions or schedule meetings until your application has been approved. More information about our adoption process can be found on our website here: https://www.arf-il.org/adopt/ As an all-volunteer, foster home-based organization, A.R.F. Animal Rescue Foundation does not have a facility where applicants can visit our animals. Please visit https://www.arf-il.org/events/ for a list of our upcoming adoption events.  Thank you for choosing to adopt, not shop! November 28, 2025, 10:27 am

Story
Meet Hershey! Hershey is an 11 month old, 35 lb poodle looking for his furrever home. He was unfortunately hit by a car and needs hip surgery, but once that is done he is ready to be with his people!  He absolutely loves to play with his toys, and has such a goofy personality! He loves people so much, that he will be by your side no matter what! Consider adopting this poor baby who has been through too much already at such a young age. He’s definitely worth being part of your family forever.   Your application will be reviewed by our team and if it is a good fit, we will send to the foster family to set up a meet! The adoption fee of $600 will include his surgery and any follow up, spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe breed, since our pups all come from shelters we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed! *please note that we are a foster home based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Thank you for your understanding.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 23, 2025, 8:54 pm

Story
Odin is a loving, loyal companion who will be your devoted shadow. He's a true velcro dog who loves very hard. This playful boy cherishes outdoor adventures and walks, and he's well-trained with great leash manners. He's crate-trained, potty-trained, good in the car, enjoys doggy daycare, and does well in boarding. Odin enjoys dog friends — playful females and select males. He could live with a companion dog, but would need a few meet and greet sessions. He's very protective of his person and their space, so he needs an adult-only home — no kids or cats. He's muzzle trained and responds well to obedience training, making him a great listener for someone who appreciates his intense loyalty. If you're looking for a devoted companion who will give you his whole heart and be your adventure buddy, Odin is ready to be your best friend! To ask about Odin, please contact us directly by calling 847-338-3252 or emailing info@redemptionroadinc.org. _____ Redemption Road Rescue Rehab Behavioral Dog Adopter Support Program As a rescue specializing in behavioral rehabilitation, we deeply value adopters who open their hearts and homes to our behavioral dogs. Story
“Wake up, Maggie, I think I got something to say to you…”Maggie Mae might just steal your heart before the song’s even through! With her scruffy black coat and soulful eyes, this lovable girl is equal parts sweetness and spunk. She’s a “wanna-be lap dog” who believes every couch, chaise, and heart has room for one more cuddle.Maggie’s the kind of gal who’ll follow you from room to room just to be near you—whether you’re sipping coffee or working from home, she’ll be your loyal little roadie. She’s learning her house manners (she’ll whine or pace by the door when nature calls) and settles nicely in her crate after a few minutes of protest—because even rock stars need their beauty sleep.Outdoors, Maggie loves to romp and chase the other dogs, though she’s still figuring out the whole “fetch” concept. She barks at birds, squirrels, or the occasional doorbell like she’s announcing her next big single, but she’s working hard on learning her “quiet” cue.Maggie gets along well with dogs, adores gentle kids, and loves being petted more than anything. She’s a slow grazer at mealtime and prefers a little company while she eats—because dinner’s better with good vibes. She may not have mastered guitar solos, but she’s nailed “sit” and “go potty.” What she’s really hoping to learn next? The rhythm of a forever home that keeps her tail wagging and her heart full.Interested in adopting this dog? Visit our website (http://www.SecondCityCanineRescue.org) to fill out an application and to find out where this dog may be shown this weekend. We love our dogs. We want happy lives for all of them and are looking for the home that provides the best fit for each dog’s individual needs. Please understand that there may be multiple families interested in this dog. Also, please know that the breed mix listed is simply a guess. In most cases, we don’t know their background. We encourage you to base your decision on individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on our guess. Please understand, we only adopt our animals out near the Chicagoland area. Questions? Email us at adoptions@sccrescue.org. Hope to see you become part of the SCCR family!
