Story
Meet River! She is about 11 months old, 52 lbs, and she likely has some boxer and doodle in her mix! River is one of a large unwanted litter. In her foster home, she has been working hard on her house training, crate training and leash walking, but will need a patient person to continue to teach her how to be a great adult dog. She could go to a home with kids 5+. No apartments, please! She isn't the biggest fan of other dogs and would do best as an only pup. She hasn't live with cats since she came into our care however, she would likely do OK with a dog-savvy cat and slow introductions.River has separation anxiety and will need someone who's home more often than not. We have a group of volunteer certified positive reinforcement trainers that we partner with and they will be able to work with River's new family to help her feel more comfortable when being left home alone. Her foster says, "River is very smart and eager to learn. She's a great listener and settles down when she needs to! She will make a great family dog/adventure friend...the most loyal best friend her lucky adopter(s) will ever have."She is available for adoption in Worcester, MA by appointment with an approved adopter. Please fill out an application on our website at https://www.browndogcoalition.com/adoptable as a first step.-Dogs may not be given as gifts or surprises.-Please thoughtfully discuss with your entire household the physical, safety, financial and emotional responsibilities of a dog BEFORE applying to adopt.- More information about our adoption process, application and adoption fees can be found at browndogcoalition.com

Story
Meet Doodle! She is about 4 years old, 37 lbs, and she may have some Doodle in her mix! She was picked up as a stray. In her foster home, she is working hard on house-training, crate training and leash walking. She could go to a home with kids and other dogs. Cats are unknown. She will need regular grooming. Her foster says, "Doodle is a sweetie pie. She is learning new things everyday and building her knowledge and confidence. Doodle has learned how to sit, walk on a leash, climb up stairs, tolerate grooming, and how to play with other dogs and toys since staying with me. Doodle can be a bit vocal when excited for attention, but can be easily settled with a hug or treat. Doodle loves to chase her tail and play with toys on her own; you may even wonder where she went, just to find her happily playing by herself or laying on her bed in funny positions. Doodle has shown zero signs of aggression or resource guarding, and would be great living with other dogs and children. Doodle may chew things other than toys, but remains open to learning and responds well to redirection. Also, you never have to worry about Doodle jumping on your couch or bed, because she prefers to stay low to the ground and lay on the floor beside you. At the end of the day,Doodle is peaceful and an easy dog to be around. Any family will be blessed to have her!"She is available for adoption with an approved adopter in Dartmouth, MA on May 24th. Story
"Very cuddly and sweet" is how Oreo's former owners described her. She's a nice girl. Though a little nervous for initial meetings, she's ready to find her own forever home where she can settle in and get to know/bond with a new person who she can call her own! Nothing would make her happier. Oreo came to the shelter along with her daughters Roxy and Sunshine (from the same litter). The three came to the shelter due to financial issues their former owners were faced with at the time. Oreo's former owners said she has a prey-drive and likely would not do well with cats. She has lived with other dogs in the past though, but if there were a resident dog in the home, we'd want to host a meeting here at the shelter to ensure personalities were a match. Oreo was a young momma, and her daughter Sunshine is very independent, but Roxy is currently somewhat reliant on her mother for comfort so Oreo and Roxy could go home together if an adopter were interested in both, but it's not required. She is very vocal so an apartment-living wouldn't be a good fit. She's looking for an adult-only home (teens might be okay). If you're interested in Oreo, call the shelter at (603) 472-3647 and press 1 for adoptions to schedule an appointment to meet her!

Story
Fifi is a gorgeous, very social, black and white standard party poodle who was born 3/4/23. This sweet girl weighs about 40 pounds and is looking for a mom. She is great with other dogs and loves to play with her toys. Fifi is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm negative, received a Proheart 6 shot and is also being kept on flea and tick prevention to maintain her good health. Her adoption donation is $1000 plus $165 transport fee. If you would like to adopt Fifi and shower her with all the love and affection she craves, the first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers. After you submit your application, please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not mean he/she will be adopted to that home. Once your application has been approved a volunteer with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in.
