Gus is a lovable poodle mix (poodle/husky/golden retriever), almost 3 years old and about 75–80 lbs. He has been with our family since he was 8 weeks old and has grown up with my 3-year-old son and two teenage daughters. He is gentle, affectionate, and loves being close to his people. Gus enjoys snuggling and has a funny habit of laying on his back with his feet in the air. He has been raised with two cats and does very well with them, and he is great with children of all ages. Gus is house-trained and used to a fenced yard. He does okay on a leash but would benefit from more practice. He knows “sit” and may get excited and jump when meeting new people but settles quickly. He has a low to medium energy level and is happy playing or relaxing. He is food-motivated and may take food left out. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and has no medical concerns. Due to unexpected financial changes and an upcoming move, we are looking for a safe and loving home for Gus.

Hi, my name is Benson, Ben for short. I am 3 ½ years old. I weigh around 55 pounds. I want you to know who I am and what kind of cool dog I am. The only way I can think to do that is to tell you all of the things I enjoy doing. So here goes: Couch surfing next to my dad and watching for squirrels, making sure they don’t invade our house Running at the dog park, next to the golf cart through our neighborhood or when we go camping. When I get tired, I get to ride next to my dad on the golf cart – that’s just great, because I can sniff and smell, and lean next to my dad while he drives. Boating on the pontoon boat and helping my dad fish. He lets me lick the fish he catches before they go back in the water. Cuddling; my mom tells me I was supposed to be a lap dog – but I am still a lap dog – what does the fact that I weigh 55 pounds got to do with my ability to cuddle? Most of me fits on a lap – at least the most important parts! Meeting dogs, and meeting people – I really enjoy going to the dog park and running around with all of the dogs – such fun! My long legs were built for prancing and frolicking around with all the new friends at the dog park. I enjoy meeting people too, wherever they are, at the big box store, Rural King, TSC, wherever I get to go and enjoy the sniffs of new things and new people petting me. Camping with my family – I enjoy the drive down to the campground, staying with my family, and getting more golf cart rides and runs in the campground. Sometimes we take vacations to dog friendly houses where I stay with my family. I’m always good – I’ve heard I don’t have “accidents” in the house, whatever that means. I am told I am charming, because I sport a distinguished beard, it’s no big deal to me, but just part of who I am. I like to rough house and play with my younger dog brother, but he is so small at 15 pounds. I’d like to have a bigger brother or dog sister that can keep up with me and my long legs and run with me. I enjoy going to dog training classes. My dad took me to them and I did really well. I learned the basics, and one of the best things I learned is to not vault out of the front door of my house and to be outside of my fenced yard with my family and stay in the area, coming when called. I really love my family, but would like to find a new home where I am the only dog, or have a big sister or brother dog that is my size or larger that I can play with, my little sister and brother are “yappers”, and I just want a brother or sister that can keep up with me, I’ve got so much love and enthusiasm to share. My mom wants me to find the best home possible and told me I can bring all of my stuff to my new home, including my crate, couch bed, toys, collars and leads, food bowl, and some of my kibble mix to get started in my new home. My vet records are available, I’ve been going to the vet since I weight a little over 3 pounds, such fun to go the vet – a lot of good sniffs, and good people there. JEFFERSON and MONROE are a darling pair of Shih-Poo (Shih Tzu/Poodle)-type cutie pies. These boys are absolutely darling. They are around 3-4 years old and fully grown, Jefferson at 17 lbs. and Monroe at 11 pounds. These two are simply delightful, easygoing and loving. They are a ready-made family! The boys are fine with other small dogs. Jefferson and Monroe came to us from a rural shelter and were in absolutely deplorable condition when they arrived, hair overgrown and heavily matted and in need of dental cleanings (that's not a reflection on the shelter, it's the result of a neglectful owner). Jefferson and Monroe have lived their lives together, and we'd like to find them a home where they can stay together forever and receive the loving care small long-haired dogs require. If we must separate them, they must go to homes with another similar-sized friendly dog. We will not send them to homes where they will be the only dog. Adoption requirements: We are looking for an adopter with small long-haired dog experience. These boys will require regular professional grooming. This isn't just a cosmetic issue, it's a health issue, heavy matting can cause skin problems and infections. They need a home with an adopter prepared for that regular expense. Their adopter(s) must also understand the dental needs of small dogs to keep their toofers from becoming a rotted mess. Jefferson and Monroe will receive a dental cleaning prior to their adoption being finalized, their adopters must stay on top of their dental care. If you would like to meet Jefferson and Monroe, please fill out a dog adoption application at dreamhouserescue.org. We are happy to arrange a private meet with an approved adopter. Our fully-vetted adoptable dogs go to prospective homes for a one-week trial period to make sure the dog and home are the right fit before an adoption is finalized.
