The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.    The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue.  While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs.   It doesn’t stop there! Russell Scruff has the kind of sweet, scruffy face that makes you want to scoop him up and tell him everything is going to be okay. With his tousled fur, gentle eyes, and quiet little personality, he has a way of pulling at your heart without even trying. He may be a little shy when you first meet him, but watching him gather the courage to take tiny baby steps toward you for affection makes earning his trust feel incredibly special. Once he gets close enough for those first ear scratches, you’ll quickly see just how sweet this little guy truly is. We believe he may be a Terrier mix, but with animal rescue, breed and age are always a mystery and our best guesses. Whatever his DNA may be, it certainly gave him an irresistible face and the perfect compact size! Russell is dog friendly and is currently being fostered in a home with other dogs, including dogs much bigger than he is. His foster has shared that everyone gets along great together. Having friendly canine companions around may even help Russell feel more comfortable as he settles into a new environment. Personality-wise, Russell is calm, gentle, and incredibly sweet. He is a sensitive little guy who needs a bit of time to warm up, but he wants affection and will slowly work up the courage to ask for it. He’ll take a few careful baby steps toward you, pause to make sure everything is safe, and then inch a little closer until he is finally within ear-scratching distance. It is such a tender, endearing way of asking for love, and once you see it, you’ll want to give him all the scratches he could ever ask for. Russell is crate trained, and his foster has shared that he sleeps through the night in his crate. From what we have seen so far, he also seems to understand where the appropriate place to go potty is. As with any rescue dog entering a new home and routine, he may need a little patience and consistency while he adjusts. Russell would love a calm, patient home where he can settle in at his own pace and learn that he is safe and loved. Give him a little time, plenty of gentle encouragement, and unlimited ear scratches, and this sweet scruffy boy will reward you with a truly special kind of love. Meet Fiona!Fiona is a lively 20-pound Poodle and Chihuahua mix who is approximately 10 to 11 years old. She is in very good health and still has plenty of playful energy. Her favorite toy is her beloved “hot dog,” and she enjoys walks, boating adventures, playtime, and curling up for a good snuggle.Fiona has lived with her current family since she was about six months old and is deeply affectionate with people. Unfortunately, she does not enjoy sharing her home with other animals. As the family’s other small dog has become more medically fragile, Fiona’s behavior toward him has become increasingly difficult, and her owners have made the heartbreaking decision to find her a more suitable home.Fiona needs to be the only pet in her new home, with no other dogs or cats. She has had very little experience with children, so her comfort level around them is not well known.

Meet Neela! She a blue standard poodle born in 2016, and is as sweet as they come. Neela is the perfect companion for anyone seeking a loyal and affectionate friend. Neela is a blend of couch potato and quite active. Neela is a quick eater, so a slow-feeder dish helps to pace her mealtimes, and she is always eager to work for treats, making training a breeze! Weighing in at 51 lbs, Neela is the ideal size for cuddles and companionship. Secure fencing is a must, as she is extremely difficult to catch. Early on with her time in her foster home, she got loose and it took a week and a whole community looking out for her to get her back home. She requires a home without small children, but has lived peacefully with children 10 or older. Animal Information:  Garth and Wayne are 9-week-old Shepherd/Poodle brothers who somehow found themselves in the Stanislaus shelter in California. NOT cool.  These two sweet, scruffy dudes deserved way better, and, like, one look at those totally adorable faces and we were all, “Dude… we gotta get them out of there." So we did. Now Garth and Wayne are ready to rock their way to new homes here in Seattle. They’re young, goofy, cuddly, and 100% made of best friend material.  Party on, pups! We can't wait to meet you! Foster Profile:  Garth is a 2.5-month-old Shepherd and Poodle mix (Best guess). Picture a small scruffy professor with a beard and a lot of opinions. That's Garth.  He's smart, curious, and always up for something. Pointers were bred to work all day and Poodles were bred to outthink everyone in the room, so Garth learns fast and gets bored fast. Toys, puzzles, and short training sessions keep that brain happy.  Garth is curious with new people and does great with other dogs. Potty training is going well with a consistent schedule. Crate time comes with a short speech, then a nap. He can even sometimes make it through the night without a potty break.  A home that knows high-energy puppies would be ideal. Someone ready to put in the walks, the training, and the patience. Animal Profile: Buddy is a 4.5-year-old Doodle (1/2 Border Collie 1/2 Standard Poodle). He was purchased from a breeder prior to his owners having children. Buddy is a friendly but slightly anxious guy who has not adjusted well to having a toddler in the home. His family invested in a 4-week board and train with a local dog trainer in hopes that it would help Buddy feel more comfortable around small toddlers. Buddy completed his training; he has excellent house and leash manners, is house trained, crate trained; and knows the ‘place’ command. Unfortunately he was still too uncomfortable around the kids after training, and his family decided it was best to find him a new home. Buddy has been trained using balanced methods, including e collar for off leash reliability. Buddy does great at doggy daycare, but does have some resource guarding around food and select toys when it comes to other dogs. While he enjoys his dog friends, we think he’d be happiest as an only dog. Buddy has not lived with cats. Buddy is currently in foster care with a balanced trainer, and doing well.
