Story
Meet Urban Male DOB: June 14, 2021 Weight: 18 lbs Breed: Schnauzer Mix Neutered (Fixed) Vaccines: Up to Date Microchipped Healthy & Adoption-Ready Personality, Breed Info & Expectations Urban is a charming adult dog with a loving personality and a wonderful balance of energy and companionship. At 5 years old, he has moved beyond the puppy stage and settled into adulthood, making him an excellent choice for adopters looking for a dog with a mature temperament and established personality. Urban enjoys spending time with his people and being part of everyday life. Whether he's joining you for a walk, relaxing at home, or simply keeping you company throughout the day, he thrives on companionship and enjoys being included as part of the family. As a Schnauzer Mix, Urban is likely to be intelligent, alert, and eager to engage with his surroundings. Schnauzers are known for their loyalty, affectionate nature, and strong bonds with their families. They are wonderful companions who enjoy both activity and downtime with their favorite people. Urban would thrive in a home prepared for: Daily walks and exercise Continued training and guidance Mental stimulation and enrichment Positive socialization experiences Structure, consistency, and routine A lifelong commitment to his emotional and physical well-being His age makes him an ideal companion for adopters looking for a dog who still enjoys adventure and activity while having the maturity and stability that comes with adulthood. Training, Adjustment & What to Expect Many rescue dogs come from uncertain beginnings and may not have had structure, socialization, or training before arriving at rescue. Because of this, most rescue dogs arrive with only basic training at best, and some may have had no formal training at all. The rescue environment itself also does not always allow for extensive one-on-one training. While we work hard to provide safety, structure, socialization, and basic guidance, adopters should expect to continue training and support after adoption. Like all rescue dogs, Urban may need time to adjust to a new home, routine, and environment. Patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement will help him settle in and become the best version of himself. Urban will benefit from: Positive reinforcement training Daily structure and routine Continued socialization and exposure Exercise and mental stimulation Patience, consistency, and supervision Please remember the 3-3-3 Rule: 3 days to decompress 3 weeks to learn your routine 3 months to fully feel at home With patience, guidance, and commitment, dogs like Urban blossom into deeply loyal lifelong companions. Owner Responsibilities & Veterinary Care Owning a dog is a lifelong commitment that includes training, daily exercise, companionship, routine veterinary care, financial responsibility, and emotional commitment throughout every stage of life. Urban will need: Daily walks, exercise, and interaction Continued training and guidance Routine veterinary care and wellness exams Preventative care including flea, tick, and heartworm prevention Proper nutrition and weight management Regular grooming and coat maintenance Mental stimulation and enrichment A safe, stable, indoor living environment Because of his Schnauzer heritage, regular grooming and coat care will help keep him comfortable and looking his best. Consistent veterinary care, emotional stability, proper nutrition, and daily companionship are all essential to helping Urban thrive in his future home. Urban is an indoor family dog and is not to be chained or left outside.
