Story
In celebration of America's 250th Birthday, all cats are two dollars and fifty cents thru 7/31.Ivy Rose is a female Domestic Shorthair and Tortoiseshell mixed kitty who is about 15 years old. This kitty is being fostered at Oaknoll Retirement Residence located at 1 Oaknoll Court, Iowa City. She lives in the 'cat room', a studio apartment that is furnished with chairs and a sofa for the people who visit.Ivy Rose may be a little shy when you first meet her, but with patience, kindness, and a quiet home, she'll reward you by slowly letting you into her heart. This sweet senior is looking for a peaceful place to spend her golden years, where she can enjoy cozy naps, soft pets, and the comfort of someone who understands that the best friendships sometimes take a little time to bloom.Could you be the one to give Ivy Rose the loving retirement she deserves? She is described as a 'Secret Admirer'. When it comes to relationships, I'm very level-headed. I don't leap in paws first, if you know what I mean. But give me a little time, and then I'll shower you with purrs, head-butts, and plenty of lap time. In the meantime, you may not see a lot of me, but I'll be thinking a lot of you! It is recommended that whenever you add a new animal to your household, it is done with a slow and monitored introduction.Adoption fees:Cats - $105 for one or only $150 for two!Dogs - $155For more information on this animal contact washingtonpawsandmore1978@gmail.comor call 319-653-6713All our animals have been spayed/neutered (or will be arranged if currently too young).Dogs will be tested for heart worms, vaccinated against distemper/parvo and rabies. We recommend crate training until you’re confident that your dog is used to his/her new home. For more information visit: http://www.aspca.org/pet-care/virtual-pet-behaviorist/dog-behavior/weekend-crate-training.Cats will be vaccinated against feline distemper and feline parvo, and have been wormed. All animals will be bathed and treated for fleas/ear mites. Microchipping will take place at the time of adoption. For an application to adopt, go to:https://www.pawsandmorewashington.org/adoptIf you cannot currently adopt, donations are ALWAYS welcome via our website Donate Now button at pawsandmorewashington.org Or mail to:PAWS and More Animal Shelter 1004 1/2 West Madison, Washington, IA 52353To sponsor an animal, emailwashingtonpawsandmore1978@gmail.comor call 319-653-6713.Hours:Monday closedTuesday thru Sunday noon to 4 Get directions at:washingtonpawsandmore1978@gmail.comTo foster an animal (any length of time), complete the questionnaire atpawsandmorewashington.org/foster

Story
In celebration of America's 250th Birthday, all cats are two dollars and fifty cents thru 7/31.Hushpuppy is a male Domestic Shorthair adult kitty. Some cats ask for the spotlight. Hushpuppy would rather share it.He may be a little shy at first, but behind those gentle eyes is one of the biggest hearts we've ever seen. Hushpuppy has taken on the role of surrogate dad to our tiniest kittens, happily curling up with them, keeping them warm, and offering them comfort whenever they need it. Watching him snuggled up with babies who aren't even his is enough to melt anyone's heart. Now it's Hushpuppy's turn to be cared for. He's looking for a patient family who will give him the time to blossom and the love he's so freely given to others. We know that once he feels safe, he'll become the quiet, loyal companion you've always hoped for. After spending so much of his time comforting little ones, we think it's time someone showed Hushpuppy just how loved he is. Could that someone be you?He is described as a 'Secret Admirer'. When it comes to relationships, I'm very level-headed. I don't leap in paws first, if you know what I mean. But give me a little time, and then I'll shower you with purrs, head-butts, and plenty of lap time. New people and places can make me nervous, but once I know I'm safe, my sweet side begins to shine.I'm looking for someone who understands that trust takes time. I'll happily be your quiet companion, keeping you company through life's everyday moments. If you're willing to let me come out of my shell at my own pace, I know we'll make the perfect team. She is described as a 'Sidekick'. Like all sidekicks, I'm just plain good company. I like attention, and I also like my solitude. I don't go looking for trouble, but I'm no scaredy-cat, either.
