Was a stray that was adopted about 9 years ago as a kitten. Was great with our dogs but they’ve passed. We got a new puppy and the cat is very stressed by the puppy. She is constantly throwing up, is always agitated and can’t relax in the house. Loves to be in the same room but prefers to lay beside you or on you but not held.

Toby earned his name with receiving a 2nd chance at life with us to be healed and find his forever family. His Story: Toby was found in a colony of 20+ cats in Smithfield, PA in Fayette County. NPLB was called to help when he was severely injured. None of the cats at the colony were fixed. Toby was transported to us and we were able to get him into the vet to be clipped, cleaned and stitched up. It appeared at 1st that he was bitten by a dog. His jaw was ripped open from underneath tearing a bigger than thumb size hole open in his throat. You could literally see his veins and organs inside the hole. Even with this extreme injury, he showed not 1 sign of pain or anger. He showed nothing but love and affection, thankfulness and confidence. He has extremely friendly nature towards all dogs, we think if he was attacked by a dog, he would possibly fear them. Although we are not sure if he was attacked by an animal, or stick in a fence or trap, we knew he needed help. The rest of the kitties received TNR by a rescue who teamed up with us to tackle the colony while we cared for Toby to help manage the population. Meet Maya, a gorgeous brown tabby girl who is all about relaxation and snuggles. She loves attention, pets, and being held - basically, she's a human-sized cuddle toy! Meet Oreo! Oreo was brought to ICHS along with a few other cats after the person who was taking care of them passed away. Oreo and his friends came to us spayed, neutered, and with tipped ears. So, due to that and them being under-socialized, we can assume that these guys were someone's outside cats. That being said these cats are making progress every day! Oreo has gone from hating his new life here at the shelter to becoming pretty content. While he still isn't the biggest fan of people, Oreo is getting there and currently accepts pets through the cage! Oreo loves the other cats though. He meows at our staff to let him out for playtime with his friends. When Oreo isn't hanging out with the other cat residents you can typically find him playing with toys, wrapped up like a burrito in his blanket, or snacking on some treats!
