Here is what someone said about Ricky’s Dog Day Out!
“ Ricky started the day feeling a little nervous and unsure of the world. We had about a 25-minute car ride, and he had a hard time settling in at first. Once we got out, we went on a long walk, and he didn’t seem to mind the rain at all!
Ricky was wonderful on our walk. He never pulled, consistently checked in to make sure I was still there, and never wandered too far. We walked past construction, cars, barking dogs, and plenty of people, and he seemed much more interested in moving along and exploring the world than interacting with everyone around him. He was happy to keep moving, taking in all the sights, sounds, and smells. He was startled by sudden, loud noises, but overall, he handled the outside world really well.
Once we got home, I dried him off with a towel and discovered that he loves a good butt scratch! After a little time to settle in, he found the couch and decided that was his spot for the rest of the afternoon. He loved looking out the window, being pet (seems to be his #1 favorite thing) and eventually took a well deserved nap. On the drive back, he even laid down in the car for the majority of the way, which felt like a little victory after how unsettled he was on the way there.
He is extremely gentle and sweet and has such a curious heart, I could really see him thriving in a peaceful home with someone will help him continue to discover that the world isn't such a scary place after all. He seems to build trust when he's allowed to approach things at his own pace.
I'm really glad I could give him a calm, comfortable place to decompress for a few hours. Thank you for letting me spend the day with him!”
