Story
Skye is a rescue, originally born in a shelter in VA. I believe this is where the ingrained anxiety may come from. She needs a home with no other dogs. She is fine with dogs on walks, she is even my husband's service dog and helps him on walks with the kids because he is hard of hearing and she basically herds them. She would make an amazing princess of any home that she could relax in without feeling reactive towards another dog. She has been in training, rigorous training, and on Prozac and it did not change the situation. She could likely come off Prozac after settling in a new home, once her anxiety settled! It did make her gain weight. Anyway, she really is a beautiful baby girl that needs a home where she can shine as the independent woman she is! She even attends events with my husband and does well! We pray to find her the perfect home!

Story
Meet SKYE! Skye is a gorgeous 9 month old, 40 pound red and white Australian Shepherd/Collie mix. Her freckled nose. black eyeliner, and fluffy tail with its white tip add to her beautiful looks. She is very sweet and lovable and is crate trained. But at less than a year, Skye has energy, puppy playfulness and excitability. She will need exercise, patience and reinforcement of training so this young dog can become the well-behaved dog she can be. Skye loves to go for walks! After exercise, Skye can also chill out comfortably and will cuddle with you during quiet times. Skye is smart, but, as with any young dog, she will need to continue with some basic training. Skye ended up at a rural North Carolina shelter, and we can only imagine how she wondered why her family did not come find her and take her home. She is so happy that PetConnect has come to her rescue and brought her to the DC area to find a forever family that will give her the attention that she deserves. Skye would love to curl up with you to hang out on a cold winter night! She would be an excellent new member of the active family! ***Please note that the first step is to fill out an application (It does not commit you in anyway but allows us to discuss with you if you and the dog are a good fit). In addition, an important step in approving adoption applicants is to complete a vet check to ensure that your current and previous pet(s) are kept up to date on vaccines (including rabies ), spayed or neutered, maintained on appropriate monthly preventatives and examined annually by your vet.*** Skye is spayed and up-to-date on vaccines. The adoption fee for this dog is $425 which includes routine vetting and spay/neuter. PetConnect Rescue cannot guarantee the exact breed of any animal in our care. The breed listed is based on any background we may have been provided, and the general appearance of the animal at the time they enter our system. For more information, please email Robin at rturner @petconnectrescue.org or kinstondogs@verizon.net **If you're viewing this on Petfinder, please visit www.petconnectrescue.org to complete our non-binding application.**
