Story
MEET BOOTS! Hi, I’m Boots! I’m ready for a new start, hopefully with you! I’m a 1 year old, chihuahua terrier mix, neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. I’m currently with my foster family with my little brother Pants! My unstable past has given me some anxiety: I get nervous around strangers and I hate being separated from my crate. Although I have trouble with strangers, once I get to know them, I like human touch and looking at people from a distance. I haven’t been destructive and I know I come with some challenges, but I promise I will more than make up for the extra work. I get anxious when I’m around kids or other animals. I get along with other dogs too, as long as they’re calm. I am fine with other small dogs, I do lunge or bark at large dogs until I have become used to them. I would do best in a quieter home. I walk well on a leash, and do my business promptly. Do you want to guess my favorite game?? It’s hide and go seek! I love hiding and being the observer. I will go under and hide behind large objects for as long as I desire, I will require patience and timid understanding/ experience with small breed needs like chihuahuas. I’ll need an experienced adopter who can help me with coming out of my shell and have a flexible schedule. Due to his shyness, recommending a home with teens or adults only. $250 adoption donation includes neuter, rabies, dhpp, bordatella, microchip, and up to date on monthly preventatives. Interested in adopting? 1. Please complete our online form at heartsforpawsrescue.com/adoption-application 2. We will respond in 1-3 days for a call! 3. If it sounds like a potential match for you and the dog of interest, we will promptly set up a meet and greet at the foster home Please note we are a foster-based rescue meaning our dogs are in individual foster homes throughout sac and the bay. For this reason we may only be able to schedule meets for one dog at a time (or litter). The average timeline between app submission and a meet and greet is 3-5 days. Please only submit an application for a specific dog if you are ready to adopt that animal within a week's time. Follow facebook.com/heartsforpawsrescue & Instagram @heartsforpawsrescue for more! Story
MEET PANTS! Nice to meet you! I am the size of your hand and my name is Pants! I am a chihuahua/terrier mix of 7.5 lbs! I am so happy to be in your presence I love to dance on my hind legs, my charm and playfulness will keep you guessing. I enjoy snuggling in blankets and being held like a baby! I’ll play for hours, then crash for a quick nap. I also love toys. My favorites are ones i can chew on! When I am done playing, I will go hang out in my crate after I make a round to check on everyone else. I wouldn’t necessarily be described as a lap dog, I will come out for pets but I do not expect to be in your face or lap. I will bark at large dogs until I am used to them. I potentially would do well with kids with proper introduction. I have not shown any hand, food or person resource guarding or shown any signs of aggression. I’m vaccinated, neutered, microchipped, and do you see my piggy tail? It’s pretty cute too! I’m a sweet boy who deserves a home and companion…would you like to apply? If you want a small, soft, housebroken cutie, then I am your (little) man! Pants has been a delight, I am fostering him and his brother and they couldn’t be more opposite. Pants will follow you from room to room so he does not miss family time. The ideal home for Pants would be one with high (little dog) energy. Pants is very smart. He is learning every day, he can scale the baby gate and climb the stairs quickly. He has learned to use the PeePee pads in his foster home but will need continued training. We are beginning to work on his outside potty routine. At night, he sleeps in a doggie bed inside of an ex-pen or crate. He would love to have another dog to play with. He loves running and playing and is constantly on the go. He wrestles with his brother Boots and throws toys up in the air for himself. Pants is well behaved in his crate and could potentially be okay for periods of time away 4-8 hrs but would love a remote or retired buddy at home too! $250 adoption donation includes neuter, rabies, dhpp, bordatella, microchip, and up to date on monthly preventatives. Story
Looking for your new best friend? Chewy is your guy! Chewy is a 3.5-year-old cutie who is single and ready to mingle. He is such a sweet boy who loves treats and being with his people. He can be shy at first with strangers, but once he knows you, he will always greet you with a big smile and a wiggly behind. Chewy weighs about 13lbs. Chewy originally came to us in 2020 after he was found as a stray with a broken leg in Yolo County. He get all fixed and up and was adopted from us, but unfortunately is back looking for his fur-ever home.  Chewy is a sweet boy but needs some time to warm up before feeling comfortable with new people. The quickest way to heart is with treats! Once he knows you mean yummy snacks, he is eager to be your friend. He quickly made himself at home in his foster home and loves spending time hanging out on the couch with his foster parents. He LOVES his foster mom, but also thinks his foster dad is pretty cool too.  Chewy isn't a big fan of being picked up, so his new family will need to respect this boundary and help him feel safe and build trust with him.  Chewy is slowly starting to play in his foster home and has discovered a love for toys. One thing he absolutely loves is his walks! He is learning that neighbors out on walks tend to have tasty treats for him, so that has been a great discovery for him. He would be a great companion for someone who enjoys neighborhood walks but isn't looking for a dog that needs a lot of exercise. Chewy is currently living with other dogs and has been doing well. He tends to do best with other chill small dogs. He could be a great buddy for another easy-going dog, but he also wouldn't mind being your spoiled only child. Chewy currently lives with cats and has been respectful of them. He could do well living with cats in his new home with a slow introduction and proper supervision. Chewy needs an adult-only home. Chewy is housetrained and crate trained. He is happy to hang out in his crate when his foster parents are at work and sleeps through the night in his little cave. He isn't destructive and is overall a respectful houseguest. Chewy is such a loving boy and we know the perfect home is out there. If he sounds like the cutie for you, submit an application today!   Chewy's adoption fee is $250.   Apply to adopt here! https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/  Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org)  It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application. The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes. Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm and started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption. For more information about an animal, please email dogs@yolospca.org. For more general questions, please see our website at www.yolospca.org. October 2, 2023, 6:57 pm
