Story
Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure Canela #4 finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours  (please check your spam folder for our emails) .   Canela #4 | 1-Year-Old Chihuahua Mix | The Sweetest Little Shadow Meet Canela, a 14-pound bundle of joy who’s equal parts playful, loving, and snuggly. This brown Chihuahua mix may be small, but her personality fills the room. She loves to play fetch, chase squeaky toys, and curl up under the covers when it’s time to relax. Her favorite things include being brushed, getting belly rubs, and resting her head on her person—she’s as affectionate as they come. Canela is almost fully house-trained and doing great with crate training—she gets in easily and sleeps through the night. She can stay home for several hours with another dog in the house and settles down nicely after a little initial whining. She’s had positive interactions with small dogs and seems to enjoy their company. Leash walks are still a work in progress, as she can be reactive to other dogs, people, or anything with wheels, but with patience, consistency, and structure, she’s learning to relax and focus. She knows a few basic commands like “sit” and “down” and is highly motivated by food, toys, and affection—especially if chicken is involved! Canela’s ideal home would be loving, active, and ready to keep building her confidence with positive reinforcement. In return, she’ll fill your days with love, laughter, and snuggles—and happily be your little shadow wherever you go.   If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives!  A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.  The adoption fee for this pet is $375. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.  Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking  here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Story
Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure Chikis #2 finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours  (please check your spam folder for our emails) .   Chikis #2 | 8 month old Chihuahua | Playful, Sweet, and Full of Joy Meet Chikis, a eight-month-old Wheaten-colored Chihuahua with a happy spirit and a heart full of love. This tiny girl is equal parts playful and snuggly—she adores romping around with her foster brother, wrestling, chasing toys, and then curling up for a nap beside him. She’s friendly, affectionate, and always eager to be part of the fun, even if she’s still a little shy at first. Chikis is learning all the basics of puppy life, including house training and leash walking, and she’s doing a great job with encouragement and consistency. She settles nicely in her crate after a few minutes and has been a perfect angel when left alone. She’s motivated by food, toys, and affection, making her a quick learner once she’s comfortable. This sweet pup has had positive interactions with larger dogs and cats, and while she hasn’t met kids yet, her loving and gentle personality suggests she could do well in many kinds of homes. Because she can be a little nervous at first, a calm and patient environment will help her confidence continue to bloom. Chikis does have a seizure disorder, but her anti-seizure medication keeps her completely seizure free, and she’s thriving under that care. She’s a happy, healthy, and playful young dog who just wants love, attention, and a family to call her own. With her cheerful prance, cuddly nature, and joyful energy, Chikis is sure to bring warmth and sunshine to any home lucky enough to have her.   If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth.
