Story
Telly is a 4-month-old, 15-pound female chihuahua / lab mix puppy from Texas! Telly is a sweet, shy, gentle, curious, and playful pup. She is continuing to adjust during her time in the city, pausing when she hears a loud noise and hesitates on busy streets. Telly enjoys cuddles, observing you from the comfort of her crate or the couch, relaxing with a chew toy, gentle play sessions, sniffing every plant and flower on the street, and long naps.
She is doing well learning a routine, is very responsive to "no", starting to understand “sit” and working on other obedience training. She is respectful and will delicately take a treat from you when it's offered. During her time with her foster mom, she has gotten better at being house-trained, learning to alert her foster mom when she needs to go outside by sitting by the door or letting out a little sound, with only the occasional accident, usually on a pee pad. She's getting better at sleeping longer at night too, and will need more time and patience to make progress there.
Telly is still getting comfortable with venturing out for walks on her leash, though she is slowly getting more confident walking further from her foster home, sometimes pulling her along. She prefers quieter streets and to sit and observe passersby from a distance. She does get an occasional burst of excitement and likes to trot down the block full of energy and even lets the occasional friendly pup friend come close for a little hello! Meanwhile, she can't help but get compliments from many of her foster mom's neighbors for her good looks and bright white coat.
She is just starting to adjust to her crate during the day and while she whimpers a bit when you step out, she settles down quickly. She loves to be cozy with her foster mom on the couch mornings and evenings, and to wander her space curiously inspecting the nooks and corners, and can often be found with her favorite sunflower rope toy.
Her forever family will need to continue working with her to reinforce and advance the progress she has been making. She is very smart and observant and no doubt will get the hang of her routine and learn from more training sessions in no time.
Telly is looking for a quiet, low-key, patient, kind, and loving family. She appreciates downtime and active moments. We would recommend Telly go to a home with no children as she is a delicate lady who needs a calm and soothing environment to feel most at ease so she can feel safe and be herself.
Vaccinated for rabies, DA2PP, and bordetella. Heartworm negative, neutered, and microchipped. Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.
