Story
****ADOPTION APPLICATION HERE*** Hi, my name is Ducky! My siblings and I were dropped off at a local kill shelter because my old parents said they didn’t want puppies. We weren’t given much of a chance to make it since we were so young and the shelter was not really equipped to handle tiny babies. The ladies there were so nice and saw that we were fed and watered and kept warm and then called CARE. CARE took us in and now we are doing great -running playing and can start looking for our forever home. I’m a 4 pound Chihuahua mix who is just turning 8 weeks old. I am happy loving and excited to start my new life. To find out more information on this dog please apply to adopt on our website at www.caretx.org/adopt and CARE will be in touch with you ASAP! This dog was rescued from a kill shelter or the streets and has been evaluated for medical and temperament to prepare for a forever home and is in a foster home in San Antonio, Texas* and is ready to fly to its final destination once adopted. The adoption fee of $995 covers age appropriate vaccinations, health certificate, micro chip, the kennel it travels in, and air transport. * CARE rescue is in San Antonio, TX where we have a serious pet overpopulation situation. CARE is a non profit 501c3 rescue that has been saving lives for 14 years and with your adoption, we can help save even more deserving urgent adoptable pets! We fly our pets to approved adopters all over the US, especially in low kill and no kill markets where there is a demand for rescue pets!

Story
Margaret Roberts “Margot” is the cutest little lady at 10 lbs - she is the perfect petite companion. Margot is a sweet and funny girl who loves to just be with you - especially on your lap! She also loves to play with her toys and for you to throw them for her a few times.    Margot is a good listener - she knows “leave it” and is working on sit! Indoors she is well behaved and rarely barks - unlike the chihuahua stereotype - she only barks when someone knocks or is very loud outside. She is young and so has some occasional mouthiness when playing but she listens when redirected or told no. Margot is almost fully potty trained and when inside she knows to only go on pee pads.    On walks, Margot is amazing - no pulling on leash, she trots along and enjoys smelling and taking in the city. For a Georgia Peach by birth she’s adjusting so well to the city! She’s not too anxious about loud sounds or new places - she’s a rockstar on public transportation!    Margot is good around other dogs and has no aggression or reactivity - even when other dogs get in her space she is calm and neutral. She doesn’t pull or bark when she sees dogs either. She used to be in a home with a cat but I haven’t seen her around any yet.    Margot is a bit scared/timid of loud rambunctious little kids but likes older kids who respect her space   Some funny / cute quirks of Margot: refuses to walk over any puddles on the sidewalk, she’s a little diva and likes to be picked up over them She loves to sleep completely under the covers - she loves to be wrapped up and comfy! She chases her toys so fast that sometimes she wipes out She loves to give gentle little kisses   She likes to look at herself in the mirror and sometimes gets a little feisty at herself and huffs back at her reflection.    Margot may be tiny but her personality is mighty - and she gets endless compliments on her cute little face and big ears, cute snaggletooth, and sweet disposition. Whoever gets her as their companion is very lucky! She is a special special girl ♥ My foster dog is good with: (Dogs, Kids, Cats) Good with all but must be kids that are older and respectful of her space. My foster dog is: Crate trained, almost fully House trained, Low shed3 Keywords for your pup: sweet, funny, sassyEnergy Level (1= calm, 10= high energy): 4Barker? Story
Charity is a 4-month-old, 7-pound female chihuahua mix from Texas.  She is adjusting very well during her time in downtown Manhattan. Charity enjoys long cuddling, dog watching, snacks, and enrichment activities. She is learning “sit” and working on other obedience training. During her time with her foster family she has started the potty training process. As a puppy she is still potty training. Charity is still working on her leash skills as she is not super excited about the outside world. She much rather cuddle with her human or dog companions. Charity is an affectionate, energetic, happy-go-lucky girl. Her forever family will need to continue working with her to reinforce and advance the progress she’s been making. Charity has done well in his crate during the evening, and doesn’t mind being crated during the day if need be, especially if she has a stuffie to accompany her.  She loves to be cozy with her foster family and can often be found with on someone’s lap or lounging in bed. She loves watching her friends in daycare play and tries to keep up with the older dogs. Charity is looking for a medium active family.  Charity is learning the city and will need a family who is patient and goes at her pace. She would be great with a family with another small dog or being an only dog. She would be a great fit for a family with children.  Vaccinated for rabies, DA2PP, lepto, and bordetella. Neutered, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. To apply for Charity, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the animal is on our website, they are still available. Story
Mama Fifi is a 6-year-old, 12-pound female chiweenie from Texas. Now that her babies have found thier forever homes, Fifi is ready to find her forever of her own! Some little dogs are easy to overlook. Maybe they’ve never had a soft, safe spot to call their own or had enough to eat…so new faces and places are scary more than fun. But given the chance, their love will fill your heart and home, and that’s the story with sweet Fifi.  Fifi was rescued from a hoarding situation of chihuahuas and gave birth to a sweet litter of Christmas babies. Despite being fearful and very submissive, she was the absolute BEST mom, rising to the occasion to try to protect her babies the best she could and doting on them day and night, even when those little rascals would chew, nibble, and steal from their sweet mama! Her endless love and patience warmed my heart and it was hard to see her say goodbye and miss her boys so dearly when they went to start their new adventures. Loving is her greatest strength. Once we got through that worried, scared exterior, she has opened up to be stage 5 velcro, belly-baring, cuddle/love bug, always down to burrow as close as to your heart as she can possibly get. She is the ultimate coworker, sitting quietly by to offer moral support and snuggles. Once she acclimated to her environment, she is the most conscientious girl, eager to please and keep clean with 100% pee pad accuracy and quick poops outside.  This sweet girl has made so much progress working on her confidence with people and new situations and will continue to need support to learn that the world can indeed be a safe and loving place. She is 100% worth the effort and once she decides to give you her love (might take a few feeds), she will repay her forever home in spades with all the snuggly sweet love that a grateful, adoring chihuahua can muster.  Given her journey, she’ll probably do best in a quiet, adult-only home where she has access to some outdoor space where there isn’t too much traffic, since she is still working on fear of people/other dogs. She has been getting along well with her calm senior foster brother frenchie and while she doesn’t know how to play, she is certainly comfortable with the companionship. It’s also been good to see her stand her ground with her slightly less calm bozo foster brother pittie. Vaccinated for rabies, DA2PP, and bordetella. Heartworm negative and microchipped. She is scheduled for neuter and cherry eye repair on 4/16. To apply for Fifi, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. Story
Sweet Pea, also affectionately known as Spicy, is a 12-year-old, 12-pound female chihuahua mix from San Diego! Sweet Pea is classic old lady chi who is a fiercely loyal companion. She LOVES her foster mom with all her being - constantly needing to be snuggled up on the couch or seeking out pets and affection. In classic chihuahua fashion, she has the tendency to guard her favorite person from other people and dogs in the house. As she adjusts and gets more comfortable, she has made progress with her "spicy" barking and snapping but still needs attentive and savvy owners to set boundaries and manage her chi tendencies. She is amazing on leash and housebroken so would be great for an easy going lower energy home. She is looking for a chihuahua experienced home with no young children. She wants to be your one and only so she is best as an only dog. She has been great living with her mellow cat foster siblings and is very respectful of their space.  Vaccinated for rabies, DA2PP, and bordetella. Neutered and microchipped. Story
Nikki is a 2-year-old, 10-pound female chihuahua mix from Texas! She is a sweet little lady who wants to conquer the world with her human by her side. She is continuing to adjust during her time in the city, and has already made great progress since she first arrived. Initially, she was afraid of her new foster family. She spent her first few days in her crate, only coming out for food & water before she warmed up to her new life. She was also very afraid of going outside, and she has already made great strides in conquering her fears. Loud noises and chaos still make her jump but she's able to persevere! New places & environments will take her some time to get used to, so patience is key. We don't believe Nikki has received any type of training in the past, but she is food-motivated. She also has made great progress with housetraining; she hasn't had an accident indoors in several days. She is slowly adjusting to her new routine. Nikki is a good leash walker. She doesn't pull, only sometimes freezes up when something spooks her outside. She is wary of strangers & other dogs on the street. Nikki's forever family will need to be patient & continue working with her to reinforce and advance the progress she's been making, especially with making her comfortable in her new surroundings. Nikki has not spent very much time alone, as her foster parents both work from home, so she's able to enjoy their company all day. However, she is crate trained and sees her crate as a safe haven. She splits her time between hanging out next to her foster mom on the couch, and in the dog bed. She is not necessarily a lap dog, but likes the company of her foster family. She loves to give kisses and has a playful side that comes out once she is comfortable. Nikki is looking for a low key family who will relax alongside her. She would be great in a home as a solo dog or with another mellow dog who is respectful of her boundaries. She gets along with the resident dog in her foster home, but mainly focuses her attention on the humans.  Nikki has not been exposed to cats or children so we cannot determine whether or not she should be placed with them at this time. Vaccinated for rabies, DA2PP, and bordetella. Neutered, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. To apply for Niki, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. Story
**Current Location: at a private boarding house in South Korea** Meet Sunny with a story of miracles👋 Sunny was found on a street in South Korea at one year old in 2018 and taken to a high-risk shelter, but she was already in serious condition presumably caused by a car accident. Her pelvis was fractured, and her right hind leg bone was broken into pieces. She was saved from euthanasia by the rescue team and hospitalized for months (Jun-Sep 2018) due to the surgery and recovery. She was miraculously given a new life thanks to the rescue. That same year, after a few months of foster period, Sunny found a forever home, which was another miracle we thought of back then. Five years later, however, the rescue team got an unknown phone call requesting to change Sunny's ownership. Long story short, her family decided to give up on her after years, sent her to an organization, and paid the organization, all this without discussing with the rescue team. This organization basically receives pets from owners and in turn, sells them out, and to do so with Sunny, they needed to have Sunny's ownership switched from the rescue team to the organization so they contacted the rescue team, and that’s how the rescue team learned Sunny's situation. Eventually, Sunny was able to safely return to her original rescue team, which is another miracle in her story. Despite all these setbacks, Sunny's sweet nature and zest for life shine bright. She needs one true chance to find her real forever family that loves her unconditionally. > Personality: Sweet, Playful, Sociable Sunny thrives on love and affection and gets along with all people and furry friends, making her the perfect companion for anyone seeking a lovely and affectionate fur buddy. She is such a cuddle bug! She likes snuggly cushions and blankets. > Affinity with - Dogs: Gets along well with other dogs - Cats: Not tested - Adults/Kids: Good with adults / Not tested for kids > Walking Manners: very good > Housetrained: fully housebroken, okay with both pee-pads and outdoors. > Bathing/Brushing: very good > Car Rides: very good > Separation Anxiety: None > Barks/Howls: she barks when excited or when she wants something. > Appetite/Food Allergies: No allergies > Shedding level (1~10): 5-6 > Health Issues: Due to the serious injuries that she got from an accident right before rescue, her pelvis is not perfectly placed (incomplete union of iliac) even after she had a surgery immediately after being rescued. However, currently she doesn’t show signs of pain when walking or running. If you have an open heart and a loving home for Sunny, please don't hesitate to apply!

Story
**Current location: in a foster home in South Korea** Meet Gae-doong👋 a beautiful long-haired chihuahua! While his previous senior owner was ill, he was rescued. > Personality: With a very gentle and mild nature, he likes being petted. At the same time, he is quite independent. Since he quickly acclimated to the current foster home, he would adjust to any home well. > Affinity with - Dogs: He is not much interested in other dogs. He is rather indifferent. - Cats: Not tested - Adults/Kids: He is not shy with new people. / Not tested for kids > Walking Manners: Very good. He doesn't pull the leash. Walks once a day for 30 mins. He gets nervous in new places or loud situations but continues the walk well when you pull the leash slightly while calling his name. > Housetrained: Housebroken, mostly using indoor pee-pads. > Bathing: good > Separation Anxiety: He only whimpers for the first 5 minutes when people leave home and rests for the rest of the time. > Barks/Howls: A little barks very occasionally toward outside noises. > Appetite/Food Allergies: Dog food for weight loss/ No allergies. > Shedding level (1~10): 5 > Energy level (1~10): 3 > Likes/Dislikes: Henry loves people and treats! / Nothing particular to dislike > Health Issues: Since he likes to eat, his weight needs attention to be maintained. If you have an open heart and a loving home for Gae-doong, please don't hesitate to apply!

Pinky was found wandering with a sibling, Brain, who is also up for adoption. Ideally we would love to have them adopted together, talk about a twofer! While they may have their arguments (who doesn't!), they do seem bonded, love sleeping in the same bed all snuggled up, and seem to always want to even get attention together. You tell us if that doesn't scream package deal! Pinky may look teeny, but she can be spunky around big dogs that don't give her her space. Otherwise just seems to ignore them; we love a queen that protects her peace! She is VERY food motivated and you'll have to make sure she doesn't get at her siblings food! She is super sweet and loves attention, and no barking at people or showing any typical "chihuahua" behaviors! If you feel like you can open up your heart to Pinky (and/or Brain), please fill out our adoption questionnaire!
