Story
Hello, My name is Dodge. I was found wondering the streets on December 16th 2024. I was running under cars trying to avoid getting hit, but because I wanted to be saved, I just couldn't resist "dodging" into traffic! The lady that saved me was already fostering for a dog through a rescue called woofwoof fosters. It was then that i knew that i would be in great hands. I have seen the vet a few times and also went to UT in Knoxville, TN at the rehab center for small animals. I was told that I am approx. 10 years old. I do come with some things that will need to be monitored, but nothing too bad really. The vet wants me to stay on a heart pill that is supposed to help with my suspected heart murmur. I am using eye ointment once every 12 hours and am not allowed to jump up and down on things. I go back to UT for a recheck in Feb. I will go outside to potty and will also use a pee pad. I am looking for my forever home where I can spend the rest of my days in a loving home. I have been through allot, but I am looking forward to cuddling with you! I am very vocal when I'm not being held if you are near me. I just love melting in your arms for a nice long cosey nap, Below is what was sent to my rescue home from UT. Please take a look and see if its something that you wouldn't mind dealing with so I can be your little companion for a while. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to my rescue mommy who is also the founder of woofwoof fosters. She is a really nice lady that is tending to my needs. ( the rescue is also located on her property). Thank you ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ TITLE: DISCHARGE INSTRUCTIONS DATE OF NOTE: JAN 09, 2025@12:22 ENTRY DATE: JAN 09, 2025@12:23:03 AUTHOR: BENNETT,BOBBIE EXP COSIGNER: DRUM,MARTI URGENCY: STATUS: COMPLETED (34-96-26) DODGE DR. Thin body condition 2. Lumbosacral pain - open etiology 3. Left hip pain - open etiology 4. Heart disease (open etiology) - Grade 4/6 murmur - suspect mitral valve disease 5. Hair loss 6. Generalized muscle atrophy (moderately severe) weight: 4.09 kgs (9 lbs.) ============================================================================= CASE SUMMARY: Dodge is an approximately 10 year old male castrated mixed breed dog that presented to UTCVM Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Service for hindlimb lameness and ataxia. He was found 12/16/24 under a truck and taken to a veterinarian where he received radiographs (x-rays) that indicated chronic intervertebral disc disease at the thoracolumbar spinal junction. On physical exam Dodge had some moderate pain in his left hip on extension, moderate pain on compression of the ilial wings bilaterally, and moderate pain on tail extension. Other abnormal physical exam findings included a grade 4/6 heart murmur, some moderate debris in both ears, and some moderate alopecia (hair loss) along his back. All other vital parameters were within normal limits and his neurologic exam was normal. As discussed, there were a couple of different diagnostic and treatment options. One plan included sedated pelvic radiographs to evaluate the hip and lumbosacral junction. If significant arthritis documented, a course of anti-inflammatories if significant arthritis or lumbosacral disease was present. If fully characterizing the degree and cause of his heart disease is a goal, an echocardiogram to determine his heart's current size and function is the starting point. As we discussed, since he is currently on Vetmedin, if his heart is normal on echo it could be an effect of the Vetmedin improving his heart size. A true baseline would be to perform an echo after discontinuing Vetmedin for 30 days. If his echo while on Vetmedin, than routine cardiac follow up per the cardiologist would be standard of care for monitoring progression (usually a repeat echo every 3-12 months depending on severity of disease). Because Dodge still us underweight and just beginning to stabilize into a normal home, we recommended continuing good nutritional support, time, and monitoring to see if Dodge's weakness persists once he gains muscle mass. Though we had also discussed adding fish oils, Dodge had a positive pancreatitis test during his vomiting episode. Fats in the diet can sometimes trigger pancreatitis, so we are recommending waiting until his body weight normalizes before introducing any additional fat into the diet. Similarly, the addition of the anti-inflammatories could disrupt the GI system and since his mobility is fully functional, we prefer to wait at this time to start any anti- inflammatories. If you note worsening of his mobility, difficulty rising or limping on the left hind, then we would consider starting an NSAID medication for dogs. ============================================================================= MEDICATIONS: 1. Vetmedin 1.25 mg: Give as previously prescribed 2. Optimmune: Give as previously prescribed ============================================================================= CURRENT RECOMMENDATIONS: 1. Continue Dodge's current diet & caloric intake. We calculated his energy requirement as 361 Kcal/day and his Purina One Small Bites contains 362 Kcal. The Lil Cesar's contain between 60-80 Kcal per packet. It is fine to continue the kibble and Cesar wet food at this time. 2. Continue his Dasuquin joint supplement. 3. Monitor for any signs of noticeable gait changes or pain (limping, lameness, holding a paw up, dragging or scuffing paws, swelling, vocalizing or reacting to palpation, unusual posturing, etc.) 4. Regular exercise: We do want Dodge to rebuild muscle as he is gaining weight. The best low impact exercise would be walking. We recommend starting the 10-20 minute walks once daily. ============================================================================= FUTURE RECOMMENDATIONS: 1. Consider adding in an omega 3 supplement (fish oil) if skin/coat does not respond to a high quality balanced diet. 2. Consider an echocardiogram for full cardiac evaluation with the Cardiology service. ============================================================================= RECHECK EXAM: WHEN: In about 6 weeks (~February 20th) WHERE: UTCVM Physical rehabilitation service WHY: Re-evaluation of mobility, hips, and lower back for further treatment options. ============================================================================= Thank you so much for bringing in Dodge today. He was the sweetest boy!!! If you have any other questions or concerns about Dodge's care, please don't hesitate to reach out. /es/ MARTI DRUM DVM, PhD, DACVSMR SACS Rehabilitation Signed: 01/09/2025 13:27 for BOBBIE JO BENNETT MSc, Clinical Student - Class of 2025 /es/ MARTI DRUM DVM, PhD, DACVSMR SACS Rehabilitation Cosigned: 01/09/2025 13:27 ** END ** This animal is being fostered in the South but transport to a location near you is included in your adoption fee. ✅Currently located in South Korea✅️ 💟Available to fly to JFK&EAR💟 Meet Maesil❤️ Maesil was brought to the Jeonju City Shelter, but her health quickly deteriorated. When the Adogs team visited a hospital, they found Maesil too weak to stand. She was in urgent need of care, so they rescued her immediately. * With People: Is shy around strangers. Sniffs when someone unfamiliar enters her space but runs away if they give her attention. It seems that she doesn’t like newcomers visiting home that much. However, she doesn’t treat them with hostility and once she gets to know them, she becomes affectionate, wagging her tail and asking for cuddles. * With Dogs: Loves other doggy friends! She’s a little dense and stays playful even when the other dog tells her to stop. Likes to play tag so she sticks by her friend’s side until they start chasing her. * With Cats: Does well with cats. Approaches and wants to play, as if they were dogs. Caution is needed with fearful cats. * Separation Anxiety: Is independent and can be left alone without issues. Mostly spends her time sleeping or wandering around the home carrying around a toy. Also stays well with another dog when her guardian is away. * House Training: Fully trained to use pee pads indoors! Has a slight preference for outdoor potty. * Hygiene: Walks around in the shower booth, but she gets through baths. Must be held when drying her fur since she’s afraid of blow dryers. Does well with brushing and nail trimming. * Walks: Occasionally pulls on the leash but has improved greatly with training. When encountering birds or cats, she listens well if you hold the leash a bit tighter or give her a gentle correction. Gets quite scared when meeting strangers or if there are sudden noises so a firm hold on the leash is a must! * Car Sickness: Almost no symptoms of motion sickness anymore! A secure car seat or bag is necessary so she doesn’t shake from side to side. 💌Special Notes💌 * As a puppy, she may need training in areas such as separation anxiety, potty habits, biting, nipping, whining, disorderly behaviors, howling, and barking. * It is difficult to predict her hair loss and growth size because her parents are unknown. * Has already mastered several commands such as “sit,” "left paw," "right paw" and "lie down." * Has a strong appetite, so when other dogs approach while she’s eating, she growls and becomes defensive. Needs to be fed separately from other dogs. * May get startled by loud noises like the sound of suitcases or carts being pulled, or when objects fall. Barks when hearing noises outside so is being trained. FOSTER'S IG : @_adogs_maesil

✅Currently located in South Korea✅️ 💟Available to fly to JFK&EWR💟 Meet Binnie🤍 💙 Binnie’s Update Account: @imbo_family_ 1. Health Condition * Neutered. * Microchipped, and fully recovered from heartworm. 2. Rescue Story * Binnie had been at the Gimje City Shelter for a long time without being rescued due to limited space. One day, his weight suddenly dropped, raising health concerns. Adogs stepped in just in time to rescue him. 3. Basic Information * With People: Has endless affection for his foster parent whom he trusts and relies on, but he is shy with new people. May nip defensively if you try to touch him without establishing trust first. Even with familiar people, he may show defensive nipping if approached suddenly or his personal space is invaded—he’s in training for this. As a result of consistent training, he’s become more comfortable with being touched by strangers recently. * With Dogs: Gets along with other dogs and doesn’t show much interest first. Doesn’t approach them to greet but he is polite enough to respond to greetings. Showed some defensive nipping to sudden approaches in the past but he is improving as he meets more dogs. * With Cats: Waits gently when seeing cats. * Separation Anxiety: Barely any. Mostly rests napping or sometimes plays with balls when alone. * Potty Training: Prefers outdoor potty but uses pee pads indoors without any issue. * Hygiene: Superstar! Handles bathing, brushing, drying, and tooth brushing like a pro. * Walks: Loves walks and matches his pace to yours! Sometimes reacts to loud sounds like motorcycles, but has shown great improvement. Even calmly crosses streets with awareness. * Car Sickness: No motion sickness; relaxes well during rides. * Barks and may show defensive nibbling when strangers visit the home or a stranger suddenly reaches out his/her hand to him. * May bark defensively if someone suddenly runs toward him during walks. * Likes playing with a squeaky ball and noss work with treats. Wiggles happily when his butt is petted. * Is scared of staircases in buildings and is currently being trained slowly with treats. For now, he’s carried when needed.

Story
This special little one year old chihuahua is called Magic Maude.  And especially sensitive little girl, that somehow got just a little too round and is on a dedicated exercise in nutrition program to drop some weight.  Currently, she is eighteen pounds and we field that she would be best to be in the ten to twelve pound range as a goal.  She originally was in a chaotic home that animal control had to step in and take away 112 chihuahuas that we're living in the home.  An unfathomable amount of dogs that were not altered, but yet healthy.  When mod came to our rescue and was put in a foster home. She lay there in her crate for days very depressed and emotionally unresponsive.  She barely moved from the one spot she lay in.   Eventually, after almost two weeks, she perked up with the company of few other chihuahuas coming to join her in her large crate.  Soon she was going on walks with the foster. Mom and seemed to enjoy the freedom of being outside, taking in all the new sights and sounds of the neighborhood.  We know she had never been leash walked due to the overcrowding at her original home.  This girl is spayed and healthy and ready to start all over again. She wants love and we promised her a great family who will love her and take her for walks and treat her like the Magic Maude that she is.  She is currently in Nashville, Tennessee, and can be transported to the northeast region as well. Please write to Critter Cavalry Rescue  at ccrnewengland@gmail.com  if you want to adopt or know more.  PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.June 18, 2025, 12:39 pm

Story
My name is Annie. I am a sweet little Chihuahua-Jack Russell Terrier mix, weighing about 5-6 lbs. I will be 12 weeks old the week of July 14. This date is important because I'll be old enough to receive some of my second vaccinations and undergo my spay surgery. After that, I’ll be ready to find my forever home in a few weeks. I love my current foster home! I get along well with the other dogs here, and I like the cats too. Everyone is bigger than me, except for one little older lady who is half my size. She’s the only one who truly understands life in a world full of giants. However, the bigger dogs are nice to me, and I even have a couple of playmates. I've only been in my foster home for a few days, but it already feels like home. I watch what everyone does and follow their lead. My foster mom says this can be good or bad—I prefer to think it’s a good thing! There’s a doggie door here, and when I get a little bigger, I plan to figure that out. Right now, I go outside when the door is open (don’t worry, my foster mom is always watching me), or I use the white pads on the floor. I sleep through the night either in my bed or next to my foster mom. Even though I’m little, I can create a nice warm spot beside you. I’m just a precious little girl looking for a loving lady to care for me for the rest of my life. I would be an excellent companion for a young professional woman who works from home. We could hang out all day, and I could help you work. I promise to be quiet and not cause any trouble. If you’re still reading this, I hope you’re considering adding me to your family. Fingers crossed! To be considered for my forever mom and to request an application, please contact Vivienne at vivienneajames@gmail.com. An approved application and adoption fee are required. (Annie is currently in Tennessee and can be transported north upon adoption.)July 11, 2025, 5:41 pm
