  Sometimes we never know what we will see when we start up our car and leave the safety of our homes and our beloved pets that wait for us to return.  Sometimes what we see on the road is disturbing and downright WRONG.     This pair of Chihuahuas were discovered by one of our faithful rescue fosters as she traveled a back country road that was mostly farmland and very few  houses on the road.  First she say the little white chihuahua in the road and he ran from her and wouldn’t let her catch him.  She tried for a while.  Then she went to the nearest house and talked to a man who was out in his yard about this white Chihuahua.  He told her who owned the land where the dog was seen running and so a few days later she went back determined to ride up and down the road until she could see the dog again.  Well there were TWO little chihuahuas now; white and black and tan.  She found the owners of the land and asked them about the Chis and was told they were dropped off by some unknown person and that they had been up in their barn trying to eat the cow feed. They were abandoned and soon our rescue foster trapped them and brought them home to change their life forever.  We are getting them vetted and neutered and spayed 1/26. This special girl is called Joni and she is a 2-3 year old Chihuahua girl that weighs 11 pounds and looking for a dream home.  This girl who has been a momma with babies before, was found with what we believe to be one of her puppies, a son named Chachi, who is white and a year old now.     This girl was found  abandoned in a very remote rural area that was nothing but countryside farm land.  The owners of the farm told us that they both showed up and had been there looking for food and shelter for over a week.  Our rescue foster mom couldn’t stand to see them left outside in the cold and with no place to be safely sheltered.  They would not come to her and so she humanely trapped them and took them home.  The rest will be history for both of these Chihuahuas.  Momma Joni is a sweet and confident girl who still takes her protective mothering responsibilities seriously.  She is still mothering and overseeing her son Chachi.  She is housebroken pretty well and crate trained and she does get along with the other small dogs in the foster home…and the cat too!  We have promised Momma Joni that she will never be thrown out and abandoned ever again.   She is ready for a new and loving owner to sweep her away on a little magic carpet to live happily ever after.   Is that you holding the key to her heart and forever future!?  Contact us at ccrnewengland@gmail.com if you are interested.  PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.June 7, 2023, 9:44 am

Itsy Bitsy is one of those sweet small dogs that has lost her momma and after she passed away the remaining senior husband did not want her.  He was just never connected to her at all.  This adorable 9 pound,  12 year old black and cream colored Chihuahua with a unique stubby tail somehow came to us terrified and untrusting.  She’s had a rough time of it and requires plenty of love, patience and understanding. She’ll need some time to get over being terrified of you and a new environment when she is adopted.  When she is unsure of something she has a tendency to snap on autopilot, but it doesn’t hurt and it’s just a quick reaction. A little busybody, she will follow you around wherever you go.  If only she could talk.  Or maybe she would be dangerous if she could tell us what made her so fearful.  She is currently living with a dog and two cats and they all leave each other alone, and if could find her an only dog home she would love it.  But if not…she tolerates other animals in the home. She wants all the attention focused on her but hasn’t been getting it since being with us at Critter Cavalry Rescue. Once she trusts you, she’ll be your best friend. It will take time to get her to trust you but it will be worth it in the end.  She is housebroken, but will need pee pads for a bit getting used to a new home and routine.  Please email us if you have the heart and soul to give this girl the best last years of her life.  She has been spayed by Critter Cavalry Rescue and also received bloodwork done and a dental as well.   We have fixed up beautifully and put her on a path of good health and now the search begins to find the most unique and caring owner possible. Meet Happy Habanero, an 8 year old make chihuahua that weighs 9 pounds and who hoes by Habi for short.  They say big things come in small packages and our Habi is truly big in his own mind and such a character.  He runs the house. Habi will usher all the other dogs to their eating spots and make sure they get there. He even has the job of letting the foster kittens sleep with him.  Obviously, Habi gets along with other cats, kittens, dogs and children. Once Habi warms up to you, he will not leave you alone. Make note that this little dynamo can be a flight risk.  It is best that he have a fence in the backyard.  When walked outside of his fence, he needs to be on a harness.  He delights in being a little escape artist and boy does he run fast. His foster mom will miss him, because he has added spice and fun and he has the honor of being called a 'Great Dog'  He is such a great dog.  He does have a fully checked heart murmur that requires no medications per his cardiologist visit and echo cardiogram.  Just keep it monitored.  Chis are notorious for this.   On March 23rd, we got a call that a home that was about to be condemned, needed their animals removed.   There were 43 Chihuahuas and one elderly sick cat.  Critter Cavalry Rescue moved what we call rescue heaven and earth and 3 dear “overloaded” foster homes opened up to 13 of them on a temporary basis.   Within 6 hours we had taken our share of those neglected and unaltered Chihuahuas.   Some were legally blind, some partially blind and a little deaf, one was pregnant and others were just scared because they have never been out of the inside of their dirty home.  We won’t discuss the conditions they lived in.  Your imagination cannot even go deep enough to truly grasp it.   We need fosters for little ones like these pictured.  Our fosters have bathed and vaccinated and dewormed and defleaed them.  All the hard stuff has been done and we are booking surgery appts. now to get dentals, bloodwork, spay and neuters and fecals done.  Exams are happening and we are also awaiting the birth of some Chihuahua pups and hoping that momma has an easy delivery.  Can you help!?  Each of these chihuahuas are super sweet but scared.  They need to either go with a companion Chihuahua or have other small dogs in the foster home that can offer some canine companionship.   They have all loved going outside in the grass and feeling the coolness of God’s earth on their bellies.  They are not overly barky and really aren’t biting as some Chis can do.  We are looking at ages of 2 to 12 years old most probably.   One little Chocolate girl (Bea), in the back of this crate picture,  is totally blind and only 6 pounds.  She was probably born this way because she seems confident but also dependent on another Chi to be her buddy to hang out with.  She would need a companion for sure.  If you can help foster or even desire an adoption form, please ask.   ccrtennessee@gmail.com   Some are ready now for adoption and most all of them need fosters now.   We will be giving bloodwork, dentals and full spay and neuter surgeries to all that need the various medical help.   We can provide you with food if needed and we will be totally responsible for all medical expenses.       PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comJune 7, 2023, 9:44 am
