History and A Note From the Foster: This beautiful momma and her 2 puppies are ready to find families of their own. They have truly brought an immense amount of joy to our rescue family these past couple of months. Angel arrived to rescue from a breeding background. She was pregnant. She delivered her 2 pups and has been devoted to them unwaveringly. Angel has had her fair share of sadness prior to rescue but has an unwavering love for her 2 puppies. She protects them and loves them. She takes impeccable care of them. She has nursed them, taught them, and loved them. All as their foster family watches in awe. Her puppies are 2 of the truly most amazing puppies we have had the chance to watch be born in rescue, grow into little hooligans, and be ready to find families of their own. Posting them is exciting, we know. It also is a little sad. We will miss them when they move onto their next chapter. We will always love them. That is what fostering is though...it is a testament to love and care of others. If we kept them all, we could not help the next momma. Here is what you need to know: Angel is a quiet angel. She was a protective momma, devoted to her pups, but overall an easy keeper. She will go potty when put outside. She has not had an accident in a long time. However, routine and communication is key. She spent years as a mill momma...so having structure and positive reinforcement is crucial to setting her up for success. She has done well in the presence of children but would do best in a quieter household. She has done well around other dogs too. Rascal (M) and Timmi (F) are special pups. Momma Angel is a mini poodle. We suspect dad was probably a Cavalier, but that is just a guess. They are sweet souls, tender hearts, and have the best playful and sweet energy. They are smart, happy, and eager to snuggle and please. They love children and wiggle their way into laps to be pet and loved on. We adore this family. We suspect the puppies will have adoption interest, but we truly hope momma Angel will too. She has done her job as a momma well and deserves more than anybody to settle into a loving home that cares solely about HER for the rest of her life.

Story
History: Ballerina is a super sweet girl who arrived to rescue in desperate need of a second chance. She is such a beautiful and striking girl who is ready to meet her forever home soon! A Note from the Foster: Meet Ballerina! This teeny tiny girl waltzed into our foster home and completely melted our hearts. She has made friends with all humans and canines. Ballerina's favorite time of the day is mornings when we let her and her brother Piccolo out of the playpen and she gets to say hello to everyone. She just as much loves all the cuddle times with her foster mom, especially if she gets to be tucked into her sweater or a robe and be warm and loved. Ballerina wishes those cuddle times last forever and gladly foregoes playtime if a warm lap is available. Ballerina would make a great companion to a person or family sensitive to her diminutive size and the special care needed for such a small dog. She can't be left outside as she is vulnerable to all kinds of predators. Even though Ballerina is very friendly and outgoing, a home without small kids would be best because running feet and throwing arms can accidentally hurt her. A quite household with a person or family that would dote on Ballerina and cherish her would be a great fit. It's been chilly outside so we have been teaching the puppies to use a potty pad, and Ballerina does very well. She is not a big barker. Ballerina is smart and can't wait to show you how good of a student she would be in a required puppy obedience training classes. Before you hit "submit" on Ballerina's adoption application, please remember that she plans to be your best friend for the next 15 years or so and hopes you have thought through all life changes and how they can impact your ability to care for a dog. As a Toy Poodle, Ballerina will need to be groomed every 6-7 weeks to help her feel and look her best, so this needs to be factored into the budget. We hope you will fall in love with Ballerina as much as we did, and she can't wait to return this love 100fold.

History: Neville is a super sweet boy who arrived to rescue in desperate need of a second chance. He is such a handsome and striking boy who is ready to meet his forever home soon! A Note from the Foster: Meet Neville (but his friends call him Flash!) 🐾✨ If you’re looking for a little bundle of joy just in time for Christmas, Neville might be your miracle pup. This tiny toy poodle is only 5.2 poundsand 4 months old, but his personality is larger than life! Neville is all puppy—happy, playful, curious, and full of love. He’s incredibly friendly and truly adores everyone he meets. He loves being held, cuddled, and doted on, and he fits perfectly right into family life. He’s fantastic with kids and absolutely loves my two resident dogs. While he hasn’t met cats yet, his easygoing, friendly nature makes us think he’d do just fine with proper introductions. This little guy is smart as a whip. In his first 24 hours, he mastered “sit for treats” and quickly learned how to play fetch with a ball (yes—fetch at 5 pounds is just as cute as it sounds!). He loves toys and is great at entertaining himself when needed. Neville has been a total gentleman for grooming—he doesn’t mind having his face washed or being brushed, and honestly seems to enjoy the pampering. 💆‍♂️🐶 Potty-wise, he is pee pad trained and very consistent. He hasn’t quite figured out pottying outside yet, but he’s young and learning. He is not a fan of the crate and will cry or bark if confined, even if you’re nearby. That said, he has done wonderfully being left out of the crate in a gated, dog-proofed main floor for a few hours at a time. At bedtime, Neville sleeps with his human (along with the other dogs) and sleeps through the night for 8+ hours like a champ. 💤💙 This little guy is an absolute doll, and it will be incredibly hard to let him go. Everyone who meets him falls in love instantly—and we know his forever family is going to be very lucky. Could Neville be the missing gift under your Christmas tree? 🎁🐾

History: Piccolo is a super sweet fella who arrived to rescue in desperate need of a second chance. He is such a handsome and striking boy who is ready to meet his forever home soon! A Note from the Foster: Hello, I am Piccolo! My sister Ballerina and I are so lucky! You see, we were born at a commercial breeding facility and were going to be used for breeding, but luck has turned and we were scooped up by a rescue. So, we get to grow up in loving forever families! Until then, we are in a foster home along with 3 resident Toy Poodles who are showing us the ropes. My foster mom says, I'm a great mix of playful and chill. I love, love, love all the toys I can find. I entertain myself by tossing them up in the air, and moving them around. My favorite time is a game of chase with the resident dogs and my sister. I often win the race around the house. I am very curious about what my foster humans and other dogs are up to, so I'm kind of a social butterfly. I really enjoy learning to play fetch with toys and hope that my forever person or family love this game. It's been chilly outside and my foster mom has been training me to go on a potty pad. I do quite well if I say so myself. I heard her calling me a good boy and a smart boy. I just love hearing all this! Coco's Heart requires little lads like myself to go through puppy obedience training after adoption, and I just can't wait to be a good student. Because I'm small, I can't be left outside in a backyard because any raptor would pick me up with one pinkie, so humans should always be with me. At night, I am in a playpen with my sister. I was vocal at the beginning, calling my foster mom to wake up and come get me. But I understand now that when lights are out, it's time for me to go to sleep and dream about my forever person or family. Before you hit "submit" on my adoption application, I want to make sure you are not only completely smitten by my handsome looks, but also plan for me to be your best friend for the next 15 years or so and have thought through all life changes and how they can impact your ability to care for a dog. Also, those handsome looks are not going to maintain themselves - as a Toy Poodle, I need to be groomed every 6-7 weeks, so please plan accordingly. I can't wait to meet you!

History: Lettie is a super sweet girl who arrived to rescue in desperate need of a second chance. She is such a handsome and striking girl who is ready to meet her forever home soon! A Note from the Foster: Sweet little Lettie is a mighty toy poodle. She is nearly 4 months old and weighs a little over 2 pounds. Lettie has no idea that she is tiny, and her foster family refuses to inform her! She plays right along with her big dog foster sisters and is all puppy! She is mastering puppy pads and working on sleeping through the night. Since she is so tiny, she needs meals and potty breaks a bit more frequently than other pups, however, she signals to use the bathroom and when she is hungry or thirsty. She is smart, sweet, and loves to play with her foster siblings - both human and dog form! Lettie can't wait to meet you - she will bring laughter, joy, and spunk to her new home. The ideal home would include someone who is home with her as much as possible as she continues to grow and learn. While she isn't a huge fan of her crate, she does great in a gated area and pack and play at night with some care and coaxing, she makes it nearly all night as of recently. She would also do great with another dog sibling and lots of care and positive reinforcement. Lettie can't wait to meet her forever family.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Honolulu is a tiny, trembling little puff of poodle who is working incredibly hard at being brave in a world that still feels very big and very loud. She’s the kind of dog who watches life from a safe perch—usually the couch—like a quiet spectator trying to learn the rules of a game everyone else already knows. Under her soft curls is a tender heart that desperately wants to trust, but needs time, calm, and consistency before she can take those steps. Right now, Honolulu is a professional observer. She spends most of her day lying in one cozy spot, taking careful notes on the household’s comings and goings. She likes other polite, gentle dogs who don’t invade her personal bubble—bonus points if they’re calm and confident, the kind who can show her that the world isn’t nearly as scary as it seems. Loud noises, sudden movement, busy environments, or any hint of commotion send her scurrying for safety, so her perfect home will be peaceful, predictable, and very patient. Because she is lightning-fast and an escape artist of Olympic caliber, she requires a fully secure 6-foot fenced yard, double leashing, and extremely careful handling. She has slipped out of harnesses and collars before, so her adopter must truly understand the seriousness of keeping her safe. She freezes on leash and is not yet comfortable walking, so yard time is currently her best way to get fresh air. Despite her fears, Honolulu has shown glimmers of what she may become someday. With the right dog buddy by her side, she quietly relaxes a bit. She eats only when no one is watching, so her foster family kindly gives her privacy at mealtimes. She is crate trained, quiet, gentle, and completely non-destructive. And when the home is calm and the pressure is low, she settles into her favorite activity: quietly lounging on the couch, taking comfort in being near—even if not touching—her people. Honolulu isn’t ready to be a typical lap dog, and she may never be the outgoing, social butterfly that some poodles are. But she does want to learn. You can see it in the way she watches other dogs, the way she edges a tiny bit closer each week, the way her tail relaxes when she feels safe. She is trying, in her own delicate way. Her adopter will need patience, gentleness, and a realistic understanding that progress may be slow—and that’s okay. Honolulu doesn’t need perfection. She needs safety. She needs calm. She needs another small, steady dog friend. And she needs someone who sees her not as a project, but as a quiet, sensitive soul who has survived a lot and deserves to bloom at her own pace. If your home is peaceful, your heart is gentle, and you have the time and dedication to help a scared little dog discover life’s softer side, Honolulu might one day trust you enough to show you the tiniest wag of her tail. And in her world, that would be a victory worth celebrating. Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.   ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. YOU CAN HELP: Not able to foster or adopt right now? Please consider sponsoring an Underdog. Your donation will help us buy dog food and pay for medical costs. Story
History and A Note from the Foster: Meet Shay, the most petite and charming Bichon you'll ever meet. She had a traumatic past and is working really hard to overcome that! When she first came into our home she would hide behind furniture and shake. We saw no signs of happiness and no signs of confidence. Shay has begun to blossom but will take a patient home to continue this progress. She is proving us wrong constantly and really is a happy gal! Shay has so many terrific qualities - crate trained and doesn't make a peep overnight, potty trained with consistent breaks, playful and goofy with other dogs and never aggressive with humans or other dogs. She is even starting to yip and play bow at me in the yard! I also get the most aggressive tail wag from her when I come home from work or let her out in the morning! She has not been around kids yet. While I know she would be gentle with them, they might scare her a bit if they chase her. Shay had a neglectful past which makes her fearful of humans. Her grooming and dental was also neglected for years. She did have 15 teeth pulled, but now she has the cutest snaggle tooth that her top lip is constantly getting caught on. It's one of my favorite things about her! Due to this she would love to eat wet food, or if that's not feasible you can soak her food in milk or water. She does take anxiety meds with her meals which will need to be continued as well. Her rust-colored fur around her paws and mouth is from nervous licking, however her nervous licking has really dwindled down! There are many "remedies" out there for rust colored fur. It's nothing bad, it just has to do with what's in her saliva. Some allergy testing might help as well! The perfect home for Shay MUST have: -No expectations for her. She may come out of her shell after 1 week or 1 year. It's impossible to know when (or if) she will become a "normal" dog. She may always be shy and progress isn't always linear. It has really been a blessing seeing her gain confidence and show joy. It's important to celebrate small successes! A home with experience with shy or shut down dogs is a huge bonus. She does not seek affection or touch from humans yet, however she has started to approach if I have a treat and beg for human food alongside the other dogs :) -Another dog (or two) around her size. She will look to your dog to not only be her safety blanket but also her teacher. Shay has 3 foster siblings. One is her size and shares her quiet temperament so they get along wonderfully and love to cuddle. The others are also the same size but a bit more aggressive with their play style and not quite the right fit for Shay long-term. Shay is always trying to play with her foster siblings! She play bows and spins in circles yipping in attempt to play. -A fenced in yard. Shay is still fearful of the leash and a walk is still too overstimulating. She loves to run around a fenced in yard as her primary source of exercise and is doing so fantastic with potty training! She has not had an accident inside in months. If you are looking for a quiet companion that needs some more patience and TLC then Shay is your girl. She really deserves the world and all we want to see is her be happy!

History and A Note from the Foster: Hi, my name is Luna! 🌙 I recently found myself back with my previous foster family after my owner could no longer care for me — and I’m settling in beautifully. I’m 7 years young and have been told I’m just about the sweetest girl ever. My favorite thing in the world is being close to my people. I’ll happily follow you from room to room and curl up beside you whenever I get the chance. When you come home, I get very excited — expect happy wiggles, a high-pitched whine, and occasionally a joyful bark when I just can’t contain myself! My foster mom says I could stand to lose a little weight, so we’ve been focusing on building my stamina at my own pace. Right now, that looks like easy strolls and cheerful laps around the yard (unless is bitterly cold!), which I’m doing really well with. As I get stronger, I’ll be ready to work my way up to longer walks and new adventures. In my previous home, I was perfectly content being an only dog, but now I’m sharing space with two other pups and we all get along wonderfully. I’m not quite sure how I feel about little kids since I haven’t spent much time around them, but I do really enjoy older kids and their calmer energy. I’m also relearning that my crate is a safe and cozy place. I got used to being out all the time, but with a little reminder, I’m remembering that my crate can be a good spot to relax. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion who just wants to be by your side, I might be your girl. 💕

Story
History: Ailani is a beautiful girl who needed a second chance at a good life. She quickly wriggled her way into our hearts with how sweet and loving she is and she would make a great addition to a lucky home of her own soon! A Note from the Foster: Ailani is adjusting to her new life very quickly! She is starting to show a lot of personality and energy. She loves being where the people are and where the action is and she gets very excited to see you. She gets along with our other dogs and often initiates play. She has a lot of love to give and loves belly rubs. She does calm down quickly when appropriate, and settles in nicely in the evening when we're watching TV or reading. She is doing pretty well with potty training, however, she doesn't show a lot of signs of when she has to go, but when let out regularly, she does great. We have learned she is not a big fan of her kennel. So we have set up a bed next to ours and she does great there at night - she stays put and sleeps the whole night through. However, during the day, when nobody is home, we do put her in the kennel and give her treats and toys and she seems to do ok. She is very happy to see you when you get home! Besides her current bad haircut, Ailani is overall a great dog and companion. She will bring joy to most households.
