Story
History and A Note from the Foster: Meet Shay, the most petite and charming Bichon you'll ever meet. She had a traumatic past and is working really hard to overcome that! When she first came into our home she would hide behind furniture and shake. We saw no signs of happiness and no signs of confidence. Shay has begun to blossom but will take a patient home to continue this progress. She is proving us wrong constantly and really is a happy gal! Shay has so many terrific qualities - crate trained and doesn't make a peep overnight, potty trained with consistent breaks, playful and goofy with other dogs and never aggressive with humans or other dogs. She is even starting to yip and play bow at me in the yard! I also get the most aggressive tail wag from her when I come home from work or let her out in the morning! She has not been around kids yet. While I know she would be gentle with them, they might scare her a bit if they chase her. Shay had a neglectful past which makes her fearful of humans. Her grooming and dental was also neglected for years. She did have 15 teeth pulled, but now she has the cutest snaggle tooth that her top lip is constantly getting caught on. It's one of my favorite things about her! Due to this she would love to eat wet food, or if that's not feasible you can soak her food in milk or water. She does take anxiety meds with her meals which will need to be continued as well. Her rust-colored fur around her paws and mouth is from nervous licking, however her nervous licking has really dwindled down! There are many "remedies" out there for rust colored fur. It's nothing bad, it just has to do with what's in her saliva. Some allergy testing might help as well! The perfect home for Shay MUST have: -No expectations for her. She may come out of her shell after 1 week or 1 year. It's impossible to know when (or if) she will become a "normal" dog. She may always be shy and progress isn't always linear. It has really been a blessing seeing her gain confidence and show joy. It's important to celebrate small successes! A home with experience with shy or shut down dogs is a huge bonus. She does not seek affection or touch from humans yet, however she has started to approach if I have a treat and beg for human food alongside the other dogs :) -Another dog (or two) around her size. She will look to your dog to not only be her safety blanket but also her teacher. Shay has 3 foster siblings. One is her size and shares her quiet temperament so they get along wonderfully and love to cuddle. The others are also the same size but a bit more aggressive with their play style and not quite the right fit for Shay long-term. Shay is always trying to play with her foster siblings! She play bows and spins in circles yipping in attempt to play. -A fenced in yard. Shay is still fearful of the leash and a walk is still too overstimulating. She loves to run around a fenced in yard as her primary source of exercise and is doing so fantastic with potty training! She has not had an accident inside in months. If you are looking for a quiet companion that needs some more patience and TLC then Shay is your girl. She really deserves the world and all we want to see is her be happy!

Story
History: Nicholas is a super sweet boy who arrived to rescue in desperate need of a second chance. He is such a handsome and striking boy who is ready to meet his forever home soon! A Note from the Foster: Meet Jolly Ol’ Nicholas! Nicholas is a 4-year-old Bichon (foster family calls him “Benny” as foster dad thinks he looks like a Benedict Nicholas) with the waggliest tail and the sweetest, softest heart. This handsome little fluff is the definition of easygoing: he’s quiet, gentle, and loves nothing more than to hang out near his humans—without being needy. Nicholas is already a superstar at going potty outside, even in the snow! He’s is not a frequent barker and sleeps peacefully through the night. When you head upstairs or leave for work, he may give a tiny whimper at first, but then he settles right down with his toys and Kong with snacks, happy and content. His vibe is chill, a little shy, and incredibly tender. Sometimes he puts himself to bed by curling up in his kennel for a cozy rest. He’s pretty good at: Eating food (a hungry boy is quite trainable!) Car rides Walks on leash Doing his business outside on a schedule (he’s starting to show signs of making circles and showing extra excitement which means it’s time to go) Bathes and brushes well Kennel trained (will crawl in to sleep or relax) Bonding with humans (He absolutely adores both men and women equally and will lick your hand!) Cheerfully greets dogs on walks Self-soothing when you need to run errands or go to work Nicholas can by shy with new people and new environments—he’s simply a calm, joyful little guy who wags his whole back end when people return. He came from a tough situation, but now that he’s safe and adored, he’s blooming into the affectionate sweetheart he was always meant to be. If you’re looking for a quiet, gentle, tail-wiggling companion who brings peace and joy wherever he goes, Jolly Ol’ Nicholas is your boy. 🐾🌹

History: Ailani is a beautiful girl who needed a second chance at a good life. She quickly wriggled her way into our hearts with how sweet and loving she is and she would make a great addition to a lucky home of her own soon! A Note from the Foster: Ailani is adjusting to her new life very quickly! She is starting to show a lot of personality and energy. She loves being where the people are and where the action is and she gets very excited to see you. She gets along with our other dogs and often initiates play. She has a lot of love to give and loves belly rubs. She does calm down quickly when appropriate, and settles in nicely in the evening when we're watching TV or reading. She is doing pretty well with potty training, however, she doesn't show a lot of signs of when she has to go, but when let out regularly, she does great. We have learned she is not a big fan of her kennel. So we have set up a bed next to ours and she does great there at night - she stays put and sleeps the whole night through. However, during the day, when nobody is home, we do put her in the kennel and give her treats and toys and she seems to do ok. She is very happy to see you when you get home! Besides her current bad haircut, Ailani is overall a great dog and companion. She will bring joy to most households.

History: Zipper is a super sweet boy who arrived to rescue in desperate need of a second chance. He is such a handsome and striking boy who is ready to meet his forever home soon! A Note from the Foster: Zipper is a Bichon breeder release. When I first picked him up, he was very fearful of the world. Each day though, he comes a little bit more out of his shell. In just a week, he has become comfortable in my house, and I can see the typical Bichon-like, happy personality coming through. He is happy whenever he can be with his people (or other dogs) in a safe space. His laid-back personality makes him easy to take care of, and he seems grateful to be in a home environment. He likes playing with my dogs, and is also happy to sleep on the couch. He doesn’t bark much and doesn’t like his crate. He sleeps at night in a dog bed in his own room without any problems. We are working on potty training. He wears a belly band, as he does have problems with marking. He is comfortable going out to go potty in the yard, and hasn't been interested in any walks so far.

She quickly wriggled her way into our hearts with how sweet and loving she is and she would make a great addition to a lucky home of her own soon! A Note from the Foster: Meet Ariella (Ari) – Your Little Hummingbird Companion 🐾 Ariella, affectionately known as Ari, is a 7-month-old bichonpoo weighing in at a petite 8.4 lbs. This curly-haired cutie is a recent breeder release, and while family life is brand new to her, she’s blossoming more each day with curiosity, affection, and playful charm. Ari is a bundle of energy wrapped in fluff—her foster family lovingly calls her their “little hummingbird” because she flutters around the house with nonstop enthusiasm. She’s discovering the joy of toys, loves a good game of tag, and is learning how wonderful it feels to be part of a loving home. Though she’s still a bit shy, Ari is deeply people-oriented. She follows her humans around like a shadow and prefers not to be left alone. She’s especially cuddly when you’re lying down—expect a flurry of kisses and snuggles! She’s most comfortable when you’re on her level, and her transition from zoomies to cuddle mode is adorably conflicted but always heartfelt. Potty training indoors is going well, and she’s currently learning pellet training. The outdoors still puzzle her, but she’s been brave enough to explore alongside other dogs. Ari would thrive in a quieter home with someone patient and present. Another dog could help show her the ropes, but she’d also do fine as a solo pup with a devoted human by her side. Her signature look? The cutest floppy ears that stick straight out when she’s happy or curious—pure joy in motion. Ariella is ready to find her forever family. If you’re looking for a sweet, silly, soulful companion who’s just beginning her journey into love and trust, Ari might be your perfect match.

A Note from the Foster: We are so pleased to introduce you to Tarek, a vibrant Maltese/Mini-Poodle who is sure to steal your heart! His tail never stops wagging and he is sure to smother you with puppy kisses! In a just a few days since welcoming Tarek to our home. . . He sleeps through the night in his kennel by our bed. He wrestles and plays with his puppy friend, Warner. He loves to run in the snow outside. He enjoys playing in his ex-pen and uses the potty mat/tray. Potty Training: We go outside frequently during the day for potty and play breaks. Tarek is doing great! He is successfully using the potty pad/tray in his ex-pen. He is also being pellet trained so we don’t have to go outside when it’s really cold. He naps and listens to puppy music when I am gone running errands. Tarek is such a joy to have in our home! History: Princess is a beautiful girl who needed a second chance at a good life. She quickly wriggled her way into our hearts with how sweet and loving she is and she would make a great addition to a lucky home of her own soon! A Note from the Foster: Hi, I’m Princess, although my foster family calls me Peanut. My foster mom says I am a 10 pound bundle of sweetness. I’m very shy but I’m starting to understand that this new world is full of snuggles, warm beds and lots of good food. I like to be in the same room with my people and sit near them on the couch. I’d rather not be picked up, though. I sleep quietly in my kennel and keep it clean. As long as I can go outside regularly, I don’t have accidents in the house. I love being outside! I love to chase my foster brother around the yard, even though he’s three times bigger than me. And when we’re done playing, I like to snuggle on the couch with him and my even bigger brother. I’m very quiet. I love food! But I don’t like to eat when anyone is watching me and I don’t like to take treats from anyone’s hands. My foster mom is working with me to get past that so that I can learn things like going up and down stairs and walking on a leash. She says that will really open up my world, but it’s hard for me to trust people right now. I’m working on getting braver and my mom says I’m really making a lot of progress. I’ve come a long way in just a few weeks. She tells me all the time how wonderful I am; I’m starting to believe her. My foster mom and I hope I find a forever family who understands that I’m a timid girl and will give me as much time and patience as I need to get comfortable. We both think I’m a perfect fit for just the right family!

Story
History: Annalise is a beautiful girl who arrived to rescue recently and immediately warmed our hearts. She is officially ready to start her journey in finding her forever home and hopes to find them soon! A Note from the Foster: Annalise’s story is one of quiet resilience and blossoming joy. For the first four years of her life, she knew only the confines of a crate. She missed out on the gentle touch of a loving hand, the freedom to run, and the comfort of a family. But despite that hard start, Annalise has a heart that overflows with hope. Her tail wags endlessly, and her eyes shine with the desire to trust, love, and belong. Personality This little girl radiates happiness. Annalise adores the company of other dogs and finds her greatest joy in play. Big or small, she doesn’t mind—she just wants a buddy who will wrestle and romp with her. Her very best friend right now is a 40-pound Wheaten Terrier, and together they remind us what second chances look like. Though still a bit skittish, Annalise’s determination to connect is inspiring. She leans into her humans, wagging furiously, and when night falls, she longs to be close—curled up by your side, finally feeling safe. Training & Home Life Potty Training: A work in progress, but she’s eager to learn with gentle guidance. Leash Training: She hasn’t yet learned the leash, so a patient family will need to help her discover the outside world at her own pace. Eating Habits: Annalise is a wonderful eater—mealtime is one of her favorite parts of the day! Sleeping Style: At bedtime, she wants nothing more than to snuggle near her people, soaking up the love she missed for so long. Ideal Home Annalise’s perfect home is one filled with kindness, patience, and play. Another playful dog is essential for her happiness—someone who will wrestle, chase, and teach her all the joys of being a dog. Because she isn’t leash trained yet, a secure fenced yard (or safe outdoor space) will give her the freedom she’s never had while keeping her safe. She came from a place of confinement, but her future is bright. With every tail wag, every joyful bounce, and every tentative snuggle, Annalise shows us her bravery and her boundless capacity for love. If you open your heart to her, Annalise will gift you with unwavering devotion, daily joy, and the privilege of witnessing a soul truly set free.
