His owner passed away, and when Jim and his “brother” Jack were surrendered to Animal Control, no information was given about them. With time running out, they found themselves on the euthanasia list—simply for running out of chances. Jim spent his entire life on a chain, yet somehow he has held onto a sweet, curious, and incredibly lovable spirit - thats why we love hounds! He deserves to be safe, cared for, and treated like a family member— he will embrace it with gentle enthusiasm. Jim is ready for a real life now: soft beds, kindness, freedom, and someone who will show him what love truly means. If you believe in second chances and quiet miracles, Jim is waiting for you. 💕 👉 Adoption application: www.wtfarmtn.org

Story
Scout is a neutered male hound/weimaraner mix (see his DNA results), weighing about 40-45 lbs! He is a sweet, special boy who has had a rough past and really needs an angel to step up and save his life. His estimated age is 5-6 years old, however he has graying on his muzzle which makes him look older than he is. He also has scars on his ears and face.   This boy has definitely experienced trauma and he is slow to trust people, but deep down he just wants to love and be loved.  He is misunderstood and has had people let him down too many times. Scout can do a 1 week foster to adopt trial with an approved adopter so you can see how he settles in before committing to adoption. Scout bonds closely to one person and once he trusts you, you will feel the love and adoration every time he looks into your eyes!  He is a lazy couch potato who loves to nap on the couch next to you and will follow you around the house like your shadow.  Once you’ve really earned his love, he will steal your slippers or other little trinkets that smell like you and take them onto the couch to keep close to him.  He won’t chew them, he just wants to keep a piece of you with him always.   Scout has been adopted and returned once due to fearful aggressive behavior towards men and children. He has been in his current foster home for over a year now and has not had any adopt interest. He is a good boy, but he requires a very specific type of home to do well, and we have not had any luck finding the right home for him   His current foster mom loves him and has worked hard to help him be the best boy he can be, but there is a man in the home and Scout just cannot comfortably coexist with a man. He (the man) understands that Scout’s aggression towards him comes from a place of fear and he has tried hard to earn Scout’s trust, but we feel that Scout would do best in a home with NO men.  Scout’s ideal home: A female only home, no men, children, or cats.  Scout does very well with other dogs and likes to be near them, he also has bursts of playful enjoy and will happily romp around for a play session! A friendly, confident doggo friend would help him to feel safe and to trust, although he would also do just fine as an only dog.  A quiet, calm home environment is best for Scout. He is lower energy and is happy to nap on the couch all day, but he does also love walks (he is strong and tends to pull, so he needs someone strong enough to handle him).   He needs a home that will commit to crating him in a separate room when they have visitors over, as he is not good with new people and when Scout is fearful, he relies on aggression to keep him safe and to keep the “scary” thing away.  Scout needs someone to love him for who he is, warts and all, who will set him up for success and advocate for him. Scout is currently being fostered in CT. If you think you might be a good fit for Scout, please consider applying to foster or adopt him!   Click HERE for Adoption Application: pawsrescueleague.org/adopt Adoption fees vary based on the dog and are not negotiable. As a small rescue that does not receive government funding or grants, we rely on adoption fees to stay afloat. Adoption fees help cover the following: vaccinations, wellness exams, heartworm/4DX testing, parasite prevention, spay/neuter (age-appropriate), microchipping, transport expenses, and other rescue-related overhead/administrative costs. Paws Rescue League, Inc is an all-inclusive rescue that does NOT only rescue puppies and young, healthy dogs.  We make a point to also rescue seniors, dogs with special needs, moms, and other “less desirable” dogs, knowing that we will likely incur higher veterinary expenses and that these dogs may take longer to get adopted.  As such, an individual adoption fee is not only reimbursing PRL for expenses directly related to that dog, but it is also helping us to continue our mission of taking in dogs that would otherwise be too much of a financial burden to save. We believe that ALL dogs deserve a second chance. Thank you for your support and understanding! ##1778132##

PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.8/12/26 WAIVED ADOPTION FEE! Lewis needs some SHARES!! He can’t stay in rescue forever and he’s holding up a spot for others in need. Please note he is NOT a senior! He is only 5 1/2 years old. He was originally adopted from us as a puppy so we know his age. He just got a gray face faster than some. Lewis is a mix of many breeds and weighs about 40 pounds. His previous owners did a DNA test. Unfortunately they only sent us 1 picture with the results which didn’t show all the breeds but it did show treeing Walker Hound, American Foxhound, Plott Hound, Toy Fox Terrier, Bassett Hound, and Parson Russell Terrier. He is very mixed.   He is a happy go lucky dude who is playful and energetic, but can also calm down quickly. Lewis’s favorite past times are lounging on the couch or in a dog bed with a fluffy blanket, chewing on a dog toy, and playing with his foster siblings (dogs). He is good with other dogs, cats and kids, crate and house trained. He’s doing well with his leash manners and very much enjoys going for walks! If you’re looking for a lovable, happy, semi -playful pup who just wants to cuddle and play with toys, Lewis is your guy. Don’t miss out! We also have a few videos of him and more pictures, this site only lets us put 4 pictures. Meet Daisy Mae! Adoption Fee: $499 Includes transport Adoption Application - Copy & Paste https://forms.gle/FmtRtYxQNnemdkdw9 This gorgeous hound is ready to leave her days as a stray behind and start the next chapter of her life with a family of her own. She was found wandering on hunting land and was thankfully taken in by a kind couple who made sure she received all of her veterinary care. Now that shes healthy, spayed, and ready to go, theyve asked Paws of Dixie Animal Rescue to help her find the loving forever home she deserves. Around 3 years old and weighing approximately 70 pounds, shes a beautiful, gentle girl with a sweet personality. She gets along wonderfully with other dogs and currently lives happily with canine companions. She also does great with children, making her a wonderful family dog. Because of her prey drive, she would do best in a home without cats. This lovely hound has overcome a difficult beginning and is more than ready to be someones loyal companion. If youre looking for a faithful friend to share your adventures, your couch, and your heart, she may be the perfect match. Please submit your adoption application today—we cant wait to help this beautiful girl find the forever home shes been waiting for!
