Behavior specialist needed!! We adopted Auggie from a shelter at 12 weeks old and have raised him around children and older adults. He’s smart, well-trained, housebroken, crate trained, knows many commands, has good recall, and doesn’t run away. Hes a bit stubborn but and generally a low-maintenance 18-month-old dog who enjoys toys, chewing sticks, and relaxing nearby.Auggie’s challenge is fear and anxiety around thunderstorms, fireworks, sirens. When scared, he needs space to retreat and decompress. If he feels trapped or overwhelmed while stressed, he can react by barking, lunging, and trying to create distance. He has made a bruise on someone while in a fear-based reactions but has never bitten.We believe Auggie would do best with an experienced owner who understands reactive dogs and can continue helping him build confidence. He is a good dog 95% of the time and we want to find the right person to help him succeed.I don’t have the time or money to hire a behavior specialist

Howdy! I'm Maven and I am 1 years old! I am a sweet and friendly girl that loves to sit for snacks! I am playful and love, love, love to run and sniff my surroundings! I love treats and attention so much that if you give me both at the same time, my brain malfunctions and I hold the treat in my mouth until you stop petting me... I have my quirks! Anyway, I'm goofy and lovable and ready for a home of my own, so what are you waiting for?I was surrendered to the shelter with some of my hound family. Hi there friends! My name is Mae and I am about a year old! I am a sweet, friendly girl that loves people! So much so that I can get a bit anxious when you leave me behind. I am pretty much still a puppy so my family will need to teach me things just like you would a pup. I love to run around in the fenced in yard at the shelter and I chase balls too! I love treats but sometimes I just like to hide them to find them later. If you're looking for a hound, I'm the girl for you! I was surrendered to the shelter with some of my hound family. Meet Deb (aka Big Debra)!Deb and her brother, Sandy (already adopted), are overflowing with sniffs and love. We recently pulled them from one of our rescue partners in southern Indiana, where they had been in a shelter environment for about two years.They`ll pretend they don`t hear you, too busy sniffing every corner and crevice they come across, until you turn around and suddenly they`re lumbering towards you to give kisses straight to the face.Deb recently went on a Dog Day Out with a couple of our volunteers. Here`s what they had to say: `Deb! What a sweet, patient, gentle lady. She’s not only inherited the same good-looks genes as her brother Sandy, but she’s got the wonderful personality genes, too! We ran into a dog being walked off-leash, and the dog came right up to her—Deb handled it perfectly. It was a calm, friendly, and very polite greeting on both sides. Meet Dixie.......... Dixie came in to rescue from the shelter. We saw their post about her on the shelter site and new we had to help her. When we arrived to pull her from the shelter she was in her kennel curled up in a ball on the concrete floor and was absolutely BROKEN. I was in tears when I saw the condition she was in. She had open sores all over her, her body was covered in mange, she had a skin infection, her feet were so swollen it looked like she didnt have pads on her feet. Poor baby was a mess and she didnt feel good. The shelter was considering putting her down because of her condition. We just couldn't let that happen. We loaded her in our transport van and headed back to our adoption center to get her settled in. After weeks of medicated bath (every 3 days) immune boosting treats, oral meds, extra yummy nutritional meals, Dixie has become a healthy/happy girl. She runs and plays with other dogs very well. Dixie uses her doggy door faithfully out the adoption center. She doesn't chew up her bed, blankets or rugs in her living space. She has turned into a very loyal and loving girl. She is quite bonded to her foster mom who has been the one caring for her, but this of course will transfer to her new person once they show her love, care and patience. Dixie does ok on a leash, but does need a bit of work still. She likes to walk her humans instead of them walking her lol. Dixie will be fully vetted prior to adoption. We were letting her heal and recover before putting her under to be spayed. Please know Dixie is a velcro dog to her foster mom so she will need a home that can give her the love and attention she has already been given. She just needs her own family and home where she can blossom. Dixie will need a fenced yard at her forever home. She loves to run and play freely in the yard. She loves to play chase with her toys. Meaning.....she has the toy and I (foster mom) chase her around the yard lol. When I stop she comes up and teases with the toy to chase her some more. Its a good thing we have a mini doodle and a mini pit to play chase with her.
