Clarice is seriously an excellent hound lady. Her foster mom has the following to say about her: "Clarice is what I would call a unicorn hound, she only sings the song of her people when she’s excited, dinner time and when I arrive home. She loves all dog friends and loves to party hard wrestling with them (she’s learning quickly to be a little gentler with the smaller dogs but may need some assistance when she’s extra hype). She is a big foodie and tends to eat whatever I give her. She’s potty trained as long as she’s kept on a routine and isn’t given an extra big crate. She’s perfect for baths and nail trims and loves a good toy or bone. She walks nicely on leash with the guidance of heathers hero’s transitional leash. Boldy is a sweet, energetic dog. I rescued him from a shelter two weeks ago and he has been living with me in my house. I adopted him with the intention of having him as my dog for the long haul and have been doing my best to make it work; as he’s acclimating to me and his new home, I’m realizing his needs exceed what I’m capable of providing him. He was described as needing a calm, patient, loving home; but what he also needs is an owner/family that is capable of spending appropriate time with him, getting him the exercise and activity that he deserves. I could train him to be a couch potato but I don’t think that’s fair to him. He’s only had one accident in the house (day 4, somewhat expected), and after that ordeal he has had zero bathroom/mess issues; he’s been trained from what I can tell but I believe he was outdoors. It’s not that I don’t have the patience, I just don’t believe we’re a good match long term for what I desire in a dog & what he needs/deserves. Happy to share more!

Meet Ruger ??Ruger is a 47lb, 7-year-old Treeing Walker Coonhound who’s been quietly winning hearts here at the shelter. He arrived with another dog and was pretty scared and timid at first—shelter life can be loud and overwhelming. But once we got him out of his kennel and into a calmer, quieter space, Ruger showed us who he really is: a sweet, gentle, and lovely boy.Ruger warms up quickly and enjoys human affection. He’s a curious guy who loves to sniff out all the interesting smells around him, and he’s always happy to earn a treat—especially if that treat happens to be cat food (his favorite!). He also loves to play fetch and is thrilled when someone takes the time to engage with him.He doesn’t seem to mind having other dogs around and does well in their presence. We’re still unsure how Ruger feels about cats, so a meet-and-greet would be recommended if there are feline friends at home.We do all adoptions with approved applicants by appointment only. Story

We are looking for a home with no children for River. She is the sweetest dog. She sleeps most of the time, and she loves to lay out in the sun. She is older and we want a calm home for her. While a fenced yard is not a requirement, it should be noted that she has learned to clear 4ft fencing so a taller fence, in ground fence or tie out system is needed if the dog will be outside without supervision. River is a calm sweet girl, approximately 65 pounds and guessing 8 years old. She is potty trained and crate trained and is very food motivated. We think that she used to be a trained hunting dog because of her enthusiasm to run out the door and jump into a crate in the car. She is great with other dogs and cats and is mild mannered around her people. She crates lovely and is currently in her crate through the night or when her foster family isn't in the home. At her previous home before coming into rescue, we were told that she was fine when left loose in the house. River was heartworm positive when she came into rescue and will require monthly heartworm prevention. If you are interested in meeting and/or adopting this baby, please fill out an application. They currently are fixed, up to date on shots, wormings, preventatives and are microchipped (with lifetime registration).
