I am a sweet fella who gets along great with other dogs and kids! I do not get along with cats, so no cats please. I am house trained and I walk VERY well on a leash and don't even react when I see other dogs on our walks. I spent some time with a trainer to help me become a very good boy - I know "sit", "down", "paw", "heel", and continue to excel with my door manners. I am crate trained too, though I am a little chatty at first and definitely have a voice that I like to use. So, it would be best if I find a forever home that does not have shared walls. I love sunbathing outside and relaxing when my humans are working from home. I also love all the belly rubs, cuddling with my humans on the couch, and playing chase with my furry friends! I am perfectly content to snuggle up on the couch after a nice walk. I would thrive with a family who is active like myself and I could certainly benefit from having a fur dog sibling in my new home, but it’s not required. I have shown that I have a case of separation anxiety when left alone but I am working really hard and getting better everyday! I will need a patient family who will help me not only decompress when I first join the pack, but continue supporting me through my journey of separation anxiety and hopefully help me overcome it. Brave and beautiful Miss Lucy was found with three other dogs, apparently dumped, in a rural area along the Ohio/Indiana border. Since the time we humanely trapped her, Lucy has been in foster with a kind family who are showing her what it means to be cherished and safe. She is slowly blossoming, coming out of her shy and scared state, and she is looking for a permanent place to belong, one that will continue to give her the patience and care she deserves to be the very best dog. Lucy does great with other dogs and would benefit from the example and companionship of a confident sibling dog. She has not shown any aggression toward cats. Potty training is progressing, and she does amazingly well in her crate. A physically fenced yard is preferred. Miss Lucy is available for adoption within Ohio and southeastern Indiana. Panini is a young, active gal looking for a home! Panini originally came from a hoarding situation where she had received limited human interaction. Understandably, new people and places can be scary for her but once she warms up is super sweet and snuggly. She loves playing outdoors, chew toys, and all kinds of snacks. She'd do best in a home with other dogs that can match not only her energy level but also her size (30lbs. or more to match her tumble play style). Panini appreciates a steady routine and is learning to do her business outdoors. She also enjoys the presence of her cat friends within her foster home. "Gertie" comes to us from our recent partnership with Muskingum County K-9 Adoption Center. Gertie was found on the side of the road with two young puppies, and the Adoption Center was eager to receive assistance from our organization. While Gertie was under anesthesia for her spay, veterinarians noted that her teeth were worn down and she would need a dental cleaning with extractions. In order to get Gertie in for a dental procedure before our favorite dental technician left the state, A Brighter Day jumped in the car to transport her from the shelter in Zanesville back to our veterinarian in Columbus. Gertrude had three teeth extracted, was found to be Hypothyroid and has some general joint pain consistent with her age. She is now actively searching for her perfect foster OR foster to adopt home! Gertie is about 7 years old, 30 pounds and is looking for someone who is ready to devote all their love and affection to her. In order to guarantee that she has your undivided attention, Gertrude must be the only animal in the home. Gertie has shown a heightened prey drive with cats and has just begun to learn how to properly learn how to approach other dogs. Although not normally required, Gertrude will strongly benefit from having a fenced in yard for placement. Gertie will require a responsible owner who will keep up with her daily medications for her thyroid, and one who is prepared for the responsibility associated with owning a leash reactive dog. Gertrude is currently at a sleepover in Xenia, Ohio, with our partner in rescue HALO K9 Behavior Consultation as she continues to work on her social skills with other dogs.
