Elliot has only been with us a short time.  We are guessing him at around 2 yrs old. He is a true coonhound and likes to bay when given the chance.  Our volunteers tell us that he is true to his breed and loves to smell everything when out for walks.  He loves to venture out to the local park with our volunteers.  He is social, happy and loves attention. He is right around 50 lbs. Gentle and beautiful Miss Lucy was found with three other dogs, apparently dumped, in a rural area along the Ohio/Indiana border. Since the time we humanely trapped her, Lucy has been in foster with a kind family who are showing her what it means to be cherished and safe. She is blossoming from a shy dog to a cuddle bug who loves soft pillows and blankets and wants to to snuggle for hours on the couch with her foster mom. She pretty much wants to be with her foster mom all the time. She is very curious once she gets comfortable and loves other dogs. Having a doggie companion in her new home would be ideal. She is good with cats, too! She’s mastering her potty habits outside, getting used to a leash, and thrives in a fenced yard where she can play freely and safely. She is meticulous in her crate as well. She is not a barker. She squeals with happiness when you arrive home, but she’s never actually barked. Miss Lucy is available for adoption within Ohio and southeastern Indiana. Rambo is estimated at 2-3 years old. He’s a kindhearted dog who just wants someone to love him. He loves affection and sitting in your lap. Rambo would not make an appropriate apartment dog, but doesn’t necessarily need a home out in the country. He will also need an adopter who is patient and tolerant of “hound manners”, or lack thereof. Rambo is genuinely a great dog and needs to find himself a loving home. He has done well with kids and other dogs.

Meet Marshall! He was pulled by a local dog shelter when they became dangerously full. Although Marshall is an older guy he still has A LOT of energy. Marshall is a Treeing Walker Coonhound that is on the large size at 80 pounds. He will require a fenced yard when outdoors as he will follow his nose. Marshall also needs some leash manners training as he is a very strong boy. He loves people and attention and does not mind other dogs. Because of his hound tendencies we do recommend a home without cats. He can have a bit of a loud bark when he is excited but he is not a continual barker here at the shelter. He is such a sweet and handsome hound, stop in and meet him today!Marshall's adoption fee is $35 thanks to the Dobec family. This includes: Bordetella Vaccine, DHPP Vaccine, Microchip, Flea Treatment, Dewormer & Spay/Neuter Surgery. As well as age appropriate Heartworm Testing & Rabies Vaccine. If you love hounds, then Flint is your guy. Flint is a happy guy full of energy. He runs like a Greyhound at the race track and like most hounds follows what ever scent he picks up. This is why we must require a yard with a tall fence. Flint isn't completely housetrained, but is almost there. Flint loves people and communicates well with that expressive howl of his. He came to use with a grade 5 heart murmur. but that was easily corrected to a grade 2 after a few months on Beta Blockers. It may completely correct itself one day or he may have to be on the meds for the rest of his life. Just 2 pills a day and it's not a big deal considering what a great boy he is! You would never know there was ever an issue. Flint is healthy, strong and full of life and love. Flint is fully vetted and is ready to find his loving forever home.
