Dasher is a low rider and around 41 lbs--he is short but mighty.  We were told he is not a fan of kids by the family that found him.  SO we suggest a home without children.  It is unknown how he is with cats.  He has a chronic issue with his leg and will likely, at some point, need to be on meds for arthritis. Based on what our vet told us he was likely injured and the injury healed on it's own with out medical intervention. (he ran for nearly a month before he landed at the finders home so it is unknown what may have happened in that time frame)--we suspect he may have been struck by a car or possibly kicked by a horse.   He limps on occasion and it should be monitored as he ages.  ***it took the finder several days to get him to warm up to them before they called us. He does like to go for walks, and can be playful. He is neutered, vaccinated, wormed, tested negative for heartworm, and is microchipped. Dasher likes some dogs but can be selective, so a meet and greet is necessary and must be scheduled in advance.  He would likely do well in a low key quiet home----although he is still active.  If you have interest please call the shelter to schedule an appt or stop in during regular business hours to walk through the kennel.  Morrow County Dog Shelter, Mt. Crate Trained: Yes Potty Trained: Yes Ideal Home / Adopter: Kernel would love to be part of an active family, especially one with another friendly, playful dog. Kernel has lived with cats, as well as toddlers without issues. Kernel is a fun loving guy who is full of personality. Likes: Kernel enjoys getting on the couch, tossing off the pillows and blankets, and rolling around before settling down for a snooze. He has favorite chew toys and a rope for playing tug. He enjoys treats and takes them gently. Ice cubes are a new favorite crunchy treat! He does very well in the car and enjoys rides. He has also done well meeting new people and dogs on walks. Kernel loves to play with dog friends and can easily entertain himself! Dislikes: Being behind the screen door when people arrive.... he just wants to say hello too!  Kernel, aka Colonel Kernel, is a super sweet boy. He is a true hound dog and less vocal than you might expect, using his voice only occasionally, like when hes really excited to play or when a visitor arrives! The barking does not last long. Kernel knows how to sit and will for treats, he is still refining his basica manners, but is improving every day! He lays down only in a "sploot" position like a stretched out frog! He is the friendliest little guy and ever dog hes met has instantly loved him! Adoption fee includes spay/neuter and microchip if you choose to return to our affiliated vet office for the procedure. The puppy will be up to date on vaccinations, deworming, and flea/tick/heartworm preventatives. All dogs over 6 months of age have been tested and are heartworm negative. ##2849244##
