Story
His mom was a Labrador Retriever- Weimaraner mix, and his dad was a full blooded blue heeler. I got him when I was still with my ex. He tried to re-home him before I left him, but I wanted to try to help Franklin and keep him. I couldn't train him or start on his training like my ex should have done because of my long work hours. He has a lot of energy and is just a little over a year old. He needs better than what I can give him and he loves to run. I use to live in West Blocton because I'm from there but I currently live in McCalla/Bessemer. Either way I just know he needs more than what I'm able to give him.

"Hi, Im Sounder. Not long ago, I had a family of my own. Im not sure what I did wrong I loved them with all my heart. One day, they packed me into a carrier (much too small, if you ask me) and left me at Summits Sanctuary with nothing but a note. As if words on paper could make being left behind hurt any less. They said Im an active Black Mouth Cur from a busy family with no time except to feed me. Luckily, the kind people at SSAR stepped in, just like I hear they always do, and found me a loving foster home. There, I was able to heal from a bite injury and go through heartworm treatment, surrounded by people who truly cared. I stayed with my foster family for about two months. They gave me more love and care than I ever thought possible. Im now neutered, fully vaccinated, treated for heartworms, and on preventative medicine to keep me healthy. I dont even understand all the things they did for me... I just know I feel better than ever! Right now, Im back at Summits Sanctuary, but what I really want is a forever home. A place to belong. A family who will love me as much as Ill love them.Could that be you? I promise to be your loyal friend and give you all the love in my big, hopeful heart. Lucy is a 1 1/2 year old spayed female Weimaraner mix, fully vetted, heartworm negative and microchipped, house trained. She is good with kids, dogs (& cat with supervision). Current owner’s pit is aggressive with Lucy, and they feel it’s  better to rehome her. Adoption fee $125. Comments from current owner: “We adopted Lucy from Mobile County Shelter approx 4 months ago. She had been bred and had puppies while in the shelter. She’s hyper, like a normal puppy. The reason we are rehoming is because she and my pit don’t get along very well, they break out into fights. I have children. I definitely believe it’s my pit and not her, because she plays well with other dogs around. Also, she jumps on my little ones, so maybe no small kids. She needs a lot of training and work we just don’t have time for. We have 3 children and I am a full time student also.  She’s okay with feeding  from what I can tell. My pit is aggressive when feeding. So I have to feed them separately.  She has been around a cat. She won’t mess with the cat if you are there to remind her. We really don’t want to surrender her back to the shelter.” September 5, 2025, 1:35 am
