Story
Meet Marina, the beautiful girl who is eager to please!! Marina is the kind of dog who makes you feel special the moment you meet her. Her gaze is soft, her coat a breathtaking blend of slate gray and pale sandy hues, and her giant pointy ears stand tall like she’s always listening closely for the next kind word. Because to Marina, your words matter. Your affection is everything. Marina is a 51lb doberman shepherd mix who we believe is about 2 years old. Due to her being a rescue, age and breed cannot be guaranteed. But we know this for sure, she is a precious affirmation seeker who will do her best to make you a happy pet parent! She lives for human connection. Whether you’re brushing her soft fur, offering a quiet “good girl,” or just sitting nearby while she sunbathes, Marina soaks up every bit of love like it’s her favorite thing in the world. And honestly, it is. She’s incredibly sweet, deeply affectionate, and always looking to make you proud. Check out our director of behavior, testify to this statement in her video below! https://youtu.be/48JK0mlCncg?si=YTjMGVQ3b0UI6C5K When it comes to meeting other dogs, Marina can feel a little unsure at first. Not frightened, just curious and cautious. But have no fear, dog play dates are definitely in her cards. She seems to wonder what the rules are and looks to her person for guidance. With a gentle voice and a calm hand, she settles right in. During introductions with other dogs, all it took was a quiet reminder that everything was okay, and she rose to the occasion every single time. Her true nature is peaceful. She doesn’t want any trouble and chooses connection over conflict every time. Marina lives in an apartment with her foster parents, but her temperament would absolutely thrive with a yard to stretch out and play. She is very playful and lights up when she’s around her people. A game in the sunshine, a soft place to nap, a person to follow from room to room—these are the things that make her happy. She’s wonderful in the car, not one for drama, and has a calm presence that makes travel easy. This beautiful girl has done well with every dog (and cat) she’s met. She listens, adapts, and responds with good manners and a soft heart. She would thrive with a doggy sibling that is also mellow and kind, offering a supportive paw of friendship. When meeting our housecat Biggie, she remained gentle and non-confrontational, showing no desire to stir up trouble. Because of this, we consider her to be cat tolerant. Marina truly just wants peace, love, and maybe a patch of grass to roll in. She’s been around children as young as ten and responded with kindness and joy. Her playful energy is balanced by an intuitive sweetness that makes her a natural fit for a family. If you have younger children and are curious how she would interact with that age range, we are happy to introduce her to any age kiddo you may have in your life! We want to make sure she is perfect for your family! She wants to be where the love is and always gives it back in full. Marina is a people dog in every sense of the word. She is ready to bond, to cuddle, to listen, and to love with her whole heart. If you are looking for a beautiful companion with a peaceful soul and a ready to please spirit, Marina is ready. She is waiting for the kind of home where love flows freely and the affirmations abound! Is Marina the lady for you? Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress! Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond. Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet. The rescue’s hard costs alone for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,120. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that Three Little Pitties Rescue is not government funded. It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS: Extensive behavioral testing and information from trainers on our staff to ensure the perfect fit for your family Discounts on Embark DNA test kit- $30 off of Breed ID test & $50 off of Breed ID plus Health test 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion A free private online dog training session with GoodPup, plus low pricing for future sessions 70% off of your first order of Fetch, a delicious PNW based fresh dog meatballs subscription Coupons for a fun visit to Petco 20% off of Dr. Cuddles pet first aid and hygiene solutions Discounted heartworm, flea prevention, and monthly dewormer Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup! Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation? We are a non profit charity. Our goal is simple— to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and by rescuing animals from the streets or overcrowded shelters where euthanasia due to lack of space is often the only option. The dog you've found online is not only lucky to be in our program, but also incredibly fortunate to have caught your eye. Thank you for considering adoption and for joining us in our mission!
