Story
Doc McGee is the name.... and FUN is the game!! I am a mixture of some hunting dogs…I like to raise up my paw when I see something in the backyard and I have some herding qualities. i like to try to corral my mom’s personal dogs around the yard. I am the sweetest boy at nighttime and I love to snuggle with my foster mommy in her bed at night…I love to be skin-on-skin! I do not like my kennel to sleep in. I bark if I cannot be laying with you. I am athletic and energetic and love to wrestle with my doggy siblings at my foster mom’s house. I really want a fun furry friend to play with at my new home. I also like to play with the 2 legged humans that like to talk “baby talk” to me. I am still working on potty training. I always pee-pee like a big boy out in the grass, but I sometimes have some accidents inside. I need to go outside right away in the morning when I wake up and I need to go outside within 2 minutes of eating to continue having success. I am a fun boy and I like to play with any and all squeaky toys, and I like to chew on anything that my toofers fit on….firewood, balls, toys, blankies, old shoes etc. I am very good at fetching when my human throws toys. Do I sound like a good fit for you? I cannot wait to go to my furever home!! Local adoption fee is $250 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $550 (includes transport to your area)

Story
Hola!! Mi amo Winona, como esta??? I am doing pretty well! Except I am still looking for my furever family.... :( I was found as a very very young puppy, with my siblings on the side of the road. No one knows where my mama is... unfortunately in the south LOTS of "people" would rather kill the product of unaltered female and male dogs than actually just get them spayed and neutered......... and very likely that is why we were left so carelessly on the side of a road at 2 weeks old.... just to die... Anyway, off my soapbox because so so many people and rescues in the south are working hard to overcome stupidity and do the right thing so it doesn't happen to other pups! I am a sweet and really gorgeous girl. My siblings and I looked very pittie and weimaraner size/temperament and personality wise. I have a gorgeous apricot colored coat with some blonde highlights (the kind you get at a fancy hairdresser :), mine were FREE :) I am now 3.6 yrs old and in my maturity I have stopped all the puppy antics- no chewing, barking, digging, peeing or pooping all over the place for me!! i am well mannered, will hang out with you while you work and then we can go for a walk or a run and then binge watch Masterchef (I LOVE ME some GORDON RAMSAY!!) until we get sleepy! That is my ideal day, so if you are down for hanging out with me all the time, fill out the adoption application and just give me happy and loving home please!! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $450 (includes transport to your area)

Story
Meet Betsy Blue, the wiggly, talkative, piglet-sounding sweetheart you didn’t know you needed in your life. Betsy is about two years old, and while we can’t be certain since she’s a rescue, our best guess is that she’s a Catahoula Leopard Dog and Pittie mix. With her one blue eye and one brown eye, her soft, floppy ears, and her gorgeous coloring, she’s as stunning as she is silly. At first, Betsy can be a little hesitant when meeting new people. She’ll do her signature “drive by bump” just to test you out before deciding you’re worthy of her wiggles. But once she warms up, you’ll see a whole new side of her — joyful, snorty, and downright hilarious. Her foster says she sounds like a piglet when she gets excited, and she’s been known to jump for joy when her favorite people walk into the room. Once you’re in Betsy’s inner circle, you’ll be greeted with wags, wiggles, and the most loving gaze you could imagine. This girl has a deep love for her people. See just how loving and silly this girl can be in her video! https://youtu.be/s42gtTUfaQg?si=chzlVTRf8K1Stl5r Betsy is an active girl who loves her walks, and she’s an absolute dream on the leash. She’ll trot right beside you, checking in with sweet eye contact to make sure you’re enjoying yourself as much as she is. Back at home, she’s a toy enthusiast — her favorite playthings are actually small plush cat toys. She’ll toss them into the air, chase them around, and keep herself entertained with the tiniest of stuffies. She’s also a huge foodie, totally motivated by treats, which makes her not only fun but easy to train. Betsy is a smart girl too! She picks up new commands within a day or so, and loves to spend quality time learning with you. Betsy has lived with other dogs in her foster home and, while she can be shy and a little unsure at first, she blossoms once she feels safe. With time and patience, she turns into a playful companion who enjoys running, chasing, and being chased. She’s also done well living with cats, she’s proven herself capable of settling in peacefully with them. She even wrestles with her feline foster siblings!! Dog-savvy cats are definitely the best fit! Because Betsy can be slow to open up to new people, she would do best with a family who understands the beauty of patience. She would thrive in a quieter home where she can truly decompress, gain confidence, and learn that the world isn’t such a scary place. Older kids who can respect her space and let her come around on her own terms would be a great match for her. Once she trusts you, though, Betsy bonds hard. She’ll be your devoted best friend, your walking buddy, your toy-tossing partner, and your snuggly couch companion. Betsy never fails to bring a smile to everyone she meets. She’s wiggly, silly, snorty, and incredibly loyal — the kind of dog who will make you laugh every single day while reminding you just how special the bond between a rescue and their person can be. She has been described as just so loveable! If you’re ready to give her the patience she deserves, Betsy is ready to give you her whole heart. Ready to welcome a new furry friend into your life? Looking for a professional cuddler who doubles as a world class playmate? Meet the girl who is ready to turn your home into a nonstop festival of belly rubs and tail wags! https://youtu.be/y1boHfjcpps If sweetness were a sport, this girl would have a gold medal around her neck! She’s the ultimate cool girl who wins over every human she meets with a little wiggle and a lot of heart. While she might start off a tiny bit shy, one treat is all it takes to unlock her goofy, love bug personality. Get ready for a dog who doesn’t just live with you; she celebrates you every single day! This girl is the definition of a velcro dog in the very best way. She is a dedicated shadow who prefers to be wherever you are, whether you’re folding laundry or finally finishing that book. She isn’t necessarily looking to hike across the country; she's more of a map out the best spot on the rug kind of girl. If you’re looking for a companion who prioritizes quality time and indoor snuggles, you’ve found your match. While we’re always playing a fun guessing game with rescue breeds, we believe Gracie is a Catahoula mix! She has a beautiful white and brindle coat that is truly captivating; it’s the kind of coat you can’t look at just once, as you’re constantly discovering new patterns and variations in her stripes. Weighing in at a solid 56lbs, she’s compact enough to be your favorite plus one for errands, yet has a heart that’s clearly oversized! She’s the ideal size for someone who wants a buddy who fits comfortably on the sofa next to them. She is currently thriving in a foster home where she’s already proving what a star student she can be. Gracie is gentle and patient, she is also kid-friendly, making her a wonderful addition to a home with children. She’s familiar with her crate and settles down beautifully. She’s a dream in the house, calm, focused, and very respectful of her boundaries (and her snacks!). Whether it’s a car ride to the park or a quiet evening in, she’s just happy to be part of the family. When it comes to other dogs, she is an absolute rockstar! She handles leash greetings with total grace and is always down for a game of tag with her canine friends. She’s a very balanced girl who gets along with almost everyone. She’d be a fantastic addition to a home with an existing dog who wants a playful, easygoing sister to romp around with. She is also a devoted soul who is more than happy to thrive as your one and only, soaking up every bit of your attention. The jury is still out on whether Gracie’s a cat person, but she’s definitely got the curiosity! To make sure it’s a purrfect match, she’s ready to have a supervised sleepover with a feline. It would be the best way to see if she and a kitty sibling can become the ultimate besties. Don’t have a massive backyard? No problem! This girl is the ultimate apartment candidate. She’s easy to exercise and knows exactly how to flip the off switch once she’s indoors. Her foster mom says she’s happiest just hanging out and cuddling, making her the perfect neighbor. Her ideal home is anywhere her favorite person happens to be! In short, she’s a sensitive soul with a love for other dogs, and a serious talent for belly rubs. She’s the loyal, easy to love companion you’ve been dreaming of, wrapped up in a sweet, wiggly package. Ready to make her the star of your life? https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/62cc8e128b02916730334440/69a2116ae6bfed4e1f047dfc Questions? Stop scrolling… because Scarlet Mae is the kind of dog people don’t forget. From the moment you meet her, she has this way of making you feel like you’ve known her forever. Maybe it’s those adorable floppy doppie ears that bounce with every step, or the way she looks at you like you’re already her favorite person. Whatever it is, it works! Because Scarlet wins people over almost instantly. She’s affectionate, attentive, and completely people-oriented in the best way. The kind of dog who doesn’t just want to be near you, she wants to be with you. Whether she’s leaning in for hugs, soaking up pets, or gently asking for just a little more love, Scarlet has a way of turning even the simplest moments into something special. Watch her video and you'll fall in love with her: https://youtu.be/8oHuAjWX9_Q?si=tkwRq8s072a9_RWw Scarlet Mae is believed to be a Pointer/Lab mix approximately 4 years old and currently weighs 48 lbs. She is a rescue dog and with any rescue dog, it’s always a mystery and we cannot guarantee breed or age. One thing we do know is that this girl is so people oriented and attentive to you when you're with her, it’s probably one of our favorite things about Scarlet. All she wants to do is make you happy and put a smile on your face. If you watched her video, then you know exactly what we are talking about. Now just imagine what that feeling is like when she is actually with you! She is even good with kids, hanging out with a 12-year-old here at the rescue. She snuggled up next to him on the couch, asking for affection without being too pushy and was so content sitting next to him getting all the love and affection. We believe she would make a great family dog. Another thing we love about Scarlet is the way she will sit in your lap letting you give her the biggest full body hugs and when you stop… she’ll lean even closer to you. Almost like she's saying, “hey friend, just 5 more minutes please.” It’s very sweet. Scarlet is dog friendly and has done great with all of the dogs we have introduced her to. She loves to romp around in the yard with the other dogs, playing chase and exploring with her doggy friends. For the most part, Scarlet is either enjoying the sunshine and fresh air while the other pups around her are playing, off exploring, or getting loved on by her people. When Scarlet first meets a new doggy friend, she prefers slower introductions to get to know her new pal and will also give a subtle correction to a dog if she’s not up for play in that moment or if things are getting a little too rough. Like how an older sister would do with her little brother, a teaching moment. In a home, she will do best with a medium energy male that enjoys those relaxing moments together, will be up for a game of chase every now and then, and will also be mindful of her boundaries when she’s ready to relax. If you don’t have other dogs, that’s fine too! She does not need the company of another dog to help her feel comfortable and open up nor does she need another dog to fulfill her energy needs. She is a confident love bug all on her own and will be just as happy being the center of your attention. She also met our house cat Biggie and met him appropriately and was very respectful around him. She did not chase Biggie, nor was she bothered by Biggie jumping or doing what cats do. Biggie also felt comfortable around her as well. We do not know if Scarlet has ever lived in a home before with a cat and this was our first time seeing her with a cat. If you have a cat in the home, we can arrange for her to have a sleepover with a cat upon request. Just let us know! Scarlet is also a smart girl and is a quick learner too. She already knows how to sit, is mastering her leash skills, and has shown us that she is crate trained and potty trained as well. She is very people oriented, eager to please, and loves a good tasty treat. All the fundamentals that make any additional training you want to do with her that much more enjoyable for you both. She really impressed us with how quickly she responded to every command we gave her. Scarlet has the type of energy that is perfectly in the middle. Not too high and not too low. She can match whatever energy you need her to. Want to snuggle all day? Sign Scarlet up. Want to take a walk around the neighborhood or go exploring the trails? Scarlet is already at the door with her leash on. She would also thrive in a home with a backyard where she can stretch her legs, soak in the sun, and porch sit with you during those nice summer evenings. We are willing to test Scarlet Mae with anything you need in order to ensure it's a perfect match. We can make anything happen! Just let us know. Ready to welcome a new furry friend into your life?
