He is a very sweet, affectionate, and well-behaved dog who loves being around people and getting attention. He has grown up in a home with multiple children ranging in age from infants to 9 years old and has always done very well with them. He is also friendly with other animals and has been around both dogs and cats without issue. He is not aggressive and generally does not bark unnecessarily. He tends to bark only when he notices something unusual or feels that something is out of place. He is loving, loyal, and enjoys being part of the family. He truly is a wonderful dog and this decision has nothing to do with his behavior or temperament. We would love for him to go to a family who will give him plenty of affection, attention, and a loving home where he can continue to be part of the family.

From the Foster: Chonk is based from the character from goonies. Because he is obsessed with food, very silly, vocal, stubborn, dramatic, but loving! He is all business when it comes to food. He can hear a bag opening or me giving treats to my cats mile away, even if he is dead asleep. He would be best with a family that is experienced with strong willed dogs. When he isn’t busy chewing or playing, the. He wants to be next to you, especially on the couch or on the bed. He does have a high prey drive and loves to chase chickens, play rough with the cats, overtake rabbits, and enthusiastically shakes his plush toys. He has started potty training and it good with ques to go poo poo or pee pee or potty. I open the door when they wake up and they know to go outside to relieve himself. He is going to be a big boy! He is very confident, brave, curious, energetic, strong willed, and happy guy! If he falls down he shakes it off and continues on his way.He is hot blooded, as he rather be cool and not wrapped up in blankets. He will sleep on the floor if it’s too hot or away from you once he gets too hot. But he loves our pomchi puppy, big rescue pup, and all the other animals. We don’t ha e kids, so not sure. But he needs to work on his bite, as it ca be hard. Other than that he is a delight!!

Introducing Auburn! Auburn is a beautiful Cattle Dog / Heeler mix who is approximately 3 years old and currently weighs 30 pounds. We rescued this gorgeous gal from the Hondo, TX shelter and although we don’t really know much bout he background, it is clear that people have not always been very kind to her. During her spay surgery, our vet discovered that she had been shot in the leg with a pellet gun. All of that is behind her now and we are excited to help this sweet girl find the loving home she deserves. Auburn is a gentle and curious. She needs someone who will go slow with her so that she can feel comfortable knowing that she will be treated kindly. Once she feels safe, she loves getting attention and affection. She gets along well with the other dogs in her playgroup and is happy and playful! With patience and lots of love we know Auburn will blossom and become a wonderful, loving companion to her new family. She is just waiting for that special person to understand her! She has a heart of gold and shows ZERO aggression of any kind. Sweet, submissive and needs one on one time and love, that we cannot give her here at the rescue. Auburn is located at our rescue in Hondo, Texas. She is spayed, up to date on all shots, microchipped and her adoption fee is $325. She is available for a meet and greet with an approved application. Auburn tested positive for Chagas disease and has started her treatment. This is completely curable after treatment and dogs can go on to live long and happy lives. Our rescue is one of the first to do Chagas testing for all of the dogs in our care and is having measurable success in the treatment protocol. We are also focused on continued education and awareness of Chagas to help even more dogs. She came to us from a shelter in deep South Texas with a severely injured eye that had to be removed, but that hasn’t slowed her down one bit. At around four years old, Twinkie is gentle, loving, and gets along beautifully with other dogs. She has a kind, easygoing nature, and I can truly see her fitting into just about any family—whether you have children, other dogs, or you’re simply looking for a loyal little companion. Twinkie is currently located in Hondo, Texas, but we do transport! Be sure to check the transport schedule on our website—we may already have a trip planned near you. Twinkie tested positive for Chagas but please do to let that scare you. She is doing great on treatment and the app cost is $30 per month for every 20 lbs of dog weight so not much at all.
