She came to us from a shelter in deep South Texas with a severely injured eye that had to be removed, but that hasn’t slowed her down one bit. At around four years old, Twinkie is gentle, loving, and gets along beautifully with other dogs. She has a kind, easygoing nature, and I can truly see her fitting into just about any family—whether you have children, other dogs, or you’re simply looking for a loyal little companion. Twinkie is currently located in Hondo, Texas, but we do transport! Be sure to check the transport schedule on our website—we may already have a trip planned near you. Twinkie tested positive for Chagas but please do to let that scare you. She is doing great on treatment and the app cost is $30 per month for every 20 lbs of dog weight so not much at all. Quarantine Up Sept/ 19th, 2026 Meet Jolene. ❤️ Jolene might look like a big dog in her pictures, but she’s only 26 pounds and just under a year old, so we don’t expect her to get much bigger. This sweet little girl has a very sad past. She was found in deep South Texas with duct tape wrapped around her muzzle, and you can still see the scarring around her nose. But somehow, Jolene hasn’t let what happened to her change who she is. She is fun, loving, gentle, and absolutely loves people. She doesn’t know a stranger and gets along wonderfully with other dogs. We can pair her with just about anybody, and she’s happy to make a new friend. Quarantine Up July 16, 2026 Meet Winchester. Winchester is a sweet little guy who weighs just 14 pounds, and our veterinarian estimates he is about 8 years old. Sadly, it appears he has lived a life of neglect. He came to us from a shelter in deep South Texas missing much of his fur and looking like he had likely gone a very long time without even the most basic veterinary care. We suspect he may have spent much of his life living outside or fending for himself. The girls here at the rescue have nicknamed him “The Mountain Man” because of his rugged coloring and scruffy appearance. He also reminds me of a little old man who smoked too many cigars....he has the deepest, funniest bark that always makes us smile. Despite his difficult past, Winchester has a gentle, easygoing personality. He gets along well with the other dogs at the rescue and is happiest just hanging out by your side. He isn’t asking for much—just a soft bed, a kind hand, and someone to love. More than anything, we would love to see Winchester spend his golden years in a loving home. We think he would be the perfect companion for a retired person or couple looking for a quiet, loyal friend. After everything he’s been through, he deserves to know what it’s like to be cherished, comfortable, and loved for the rest of his life. Winchester is currently located outside of San Antonio, Texas, but we may already have a transport scheduled near you. Check our website for upcoming transport dates. Great with other dogs and likes to play chase. She is leash trained, but still likes to pull. She knows "Sit" and "Paw". She really needs a home with a large yard for her to run and burn off the high energy. Our home does not have adequate space for her to run, so she has started jumping out of the yard. We do not want her getting injured or causing injuries. We can not make any changes to our fence because we live in a HOA community. (👎)
