Story
The folks with Weimaraner Rescue are trying to find me a new home but I haven’t had anyone interested in me for months! I know I’m a good boy so, let me tell you, my story. I’m originally from El Paso, around 7 years old and super buff at 113 pounds. Some would say I could lose a few lbs, but I think I’m good. When rescue heard I needed help, the guy that picked me up fell in love instantly - I do have that effect on people! Suddenly I had two people showering me with affection and a doggie friend to play with; even though the place was small it was cozy and full of love. Over the next couple years two more large dogs joined the family. A trainer came but my owner didn’t do any of the suggestions to keep us dogs safe. Things got real one day with my older brother when they left us home alone. No one knows who started it, but I took the blame and now I’m back in rescue. I returned to Houston and completed a 6-week course with a dog trainer. I will wait at the door to allow you to walk through first, walk by your side, sit, and remain in place on command. I know my manners and the more time you spend with me, the better I’ll do. I meet other dogs where I’m staying, and I’m cool with them but based on my inconsistent behavior around other dogs in a home, I really need to be your one and only bestie. I’m not a fan of squirrels so probably cats won’t work for me either. I do have a great disposition – I’m a balanced mix of energy, chill, and always happy. The people that take care of me love me and tell me what a wonderful dog I am. I am a bit of a Velcro boy – well a lot of one really! A good cuddle on the couch is a perfect day. I also love getting out to go for walks when I have people visit me. I am house trained and lived perfectly in a home without being crated. I have a clean bill of health and I’m up to date on everything medical. DNA is all the rage now, so I got mine done too. I’m 49% Weimaraner, 29% American Pitbull Terrier, 17% American Staffordshire Terrier and the remaining 5% Boxer and Chow. Yep, I’m a Weim Pit mix which basically stands for ONE AWESOME DOG. I’ve been at the boarding facility for months where I’m safe, warm, and fed, but I’m lonely here in my kennel. What I really want is my own family to love, to snuggle on the sofa, go for walks and get yummy treats. I promise to be a good boy as long as you keep me safe. If you aren’t the one, that is ok but please share my story as I’m ready to go home with a loving family. Tater is being cared for by Weimaraner Rescue of Texas. We are working with The Love Pit to give Tater better visibility to families looking for that one special pup. www.WeimRescueTexas.org Tater is participating in The Love Pit's iRehome program. All iRehome dogs are being rehomed by their current owner. All iRehome behavioral and medical information is provided by the dog's current owner. TLP encourages all adopters to verify the information with the current owner prior to completing the adoption process.

Story
Meet  Tator.  He is a 7-year-old Weimaraner mix.  He’s a big boy that currently weighs 115 pounds (he’s working on getting that number down some to get his summer body ready).  He has so much love to share with a family.  He has a heart of gold and his ears are as soft as silk.    Tator enjoys walks, soaking up some sun light outside (preferably with you around), car rides, and hanging out on the couch watching TV or baseball.  He’s not big on playing with bones or toys but does play with them occasionally.  No worry about toy fluff being spread around the house, because he knows how to take care of his toys.  No matter what, he just wants to be with his people like a typical Weim.  Tator is currently living with a foster family that has 2 dogs.  He is usually found hanging out with them unless he leaves the room to come find you.  He gets along great with his current fur siblings (they are not small dogs) and there haven’t been any issues at all between them.  However, based on some previous interactions with a dog in his former home it is recommended that he be adopted out as an only dog.  No one was home at the time so not really sure what caused the issue.  He has been such a perfect gentleman from day one with his foster family.  He is not a big barker, but will alert you if he see’s something “suspicious”.    He does like to chase squirrels in the back yard, but if you tell him not to and to come in the house his listens.  He enjoys bouncing and running around in the back yard and if there’s a dog next door he’s happy to run and investigate but again he’s not a barker.   He will wait patiently while you make his meals and takes treats and cookies with a very soft, gentle mouth.  No snatching from this boy!  He also sleeps on his bed through the night until you’re ready to get up.  Right now he has someone home with him most of the time but has been left uncrated in the house for probably 4-5 hours and he just sleeps and hangs out with his foster siblings waiting for you to come home.  He is being fostered in Houston if you are interested in applying for him. ##1290830##

Story
Baxter Lee is an 11-year-old big boy weighing 71 pounds. Although he is a large boy, he is a gentle giant and is very careful around others not bumping into them or getting in the way. He is very strong but is perfect on a leash and walks as slowly or as fast as you go. He is an independent guy, unlike other Weims, and pretty much stays to himself but will come and check on you from time to time. He loves the sun and spends a lot of time outdoors sunning on the deck. He is quite fascinated by anything floating in the pool or flying overhead and often will snatch the pool thermometer from the pool and then tease me with it! He loves to play chase with whatever favorite thing he decides to bring from another room to show you whether it is your slippers, a pillow off the bed, or something else he knows he is not supposed to have. The only way to retrieve the item is to offer a treat! And then you must grab the item before giving the treat or you will have to start all over again. He does have a loud bark and feels that he must use it whenever seeing anyone outside that doesn’t look familiar. He has been very good with guests, even small children, as he doesn’t try to push them over. I have a bird in a cage that he smelled once and has ignored ever since. Not sure if cats are an issue but he is a lover of chasing squirrels and birds in the back yard. He is good with multiple dogs (the foster has 2) but may be fine with being the only dog as well. He has a very chilled laid-back personality but can be quite stubborn. When he doesn’t want to do what you want him to do, he does not listen and conveniently forgets his name. He is a “nooker” and has claimed one of the blankets as his “nooking” blanket. He often falls asleep after a meal while nooking as we all settle on the couch watching TV. He does like to sleep on the furniture even though there are multiple beds around the house. He chooses a chair, and then when we are all together, he sleeps next to me on the sofa. At bedtime he either sleeps in bed with the rest of us or finds his way into one of the overstuffed chairs. Baxter Lee would be a great dog for someone that needs a laid back, sweet guy and would be fine as an only dog or with another dog. He will need regular exercise as I do believe he gets a little bored lying around all day. Currently he has some issues with his hips and will need some physical therapy to help him keep moving. He has no mobility issues at present and can jump in the car and on the bed without a problem. He  is being fostered in the DFW area if a senior boy is who you are looking for. ##2354754##

Story
Mac (MacDaddy) is an 89-pound, 7-year-old, gray male Weimaraner that is a solid boy, but thinks he's a chihuahua.  He's velcro and loves to lean on you.  If you pet and scratch him he'll be your best friend.  He is a goofy boy that is a bit like a bull in a china shop.  He can come on strong with his size and would do best in a family with older kids and good leadership. Mac loves to party.  He is crate trained although he's been rubbing his nose on the crate a little bit.  He knows some commands, but he decides if it's worth it to use them. Mac is dog, kid and cat friendly. He is being fostered in the DFW if you'd like to consider adopting him. ##2293648##

Meet Vader: The Snuggly Side of the Force This 9-year-old Jedi-in-training may share a name with the Dark Lord, but donâ&#194&#128&#194&#153t let that fool youâ&#194&#128&#194&#148Vader is all heart. Equal parts wise old master and playful padawan, he's got enough energy for playtime and zoomies, followed by long naps with his favorite humans. Heâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s especially skilled at bonding with younglings and would be a loyal protector to any little rebels. Vader gets along well with other dogs in the Resistance and is a big fan of toysâ&#194&#128&#194&#148chewies, squeakies, and anything he can toss around. Heâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s house-trained, crate-trained, walks nicely on a leash, and rides like a champ in the Millennium Falcon (or your minivan). Cats? Letâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s just say theyâ&#194&#128&#194&#153re on the wrong side of the Force in Vaderâ&#194&#128&#194&#153s book. A cat-free galaxy is preferred. Whether he joins an existing crew or becomes the center of your universe, Vader is ready to bring balance to your homeâ&#194&#128&#194&#148through cuddles, joy, and unwavering loyalty.
