Story
Vader is a sweet, chill dog who needs tender, loving care. This gentle boy, unfortunately, came from a cruelty case where he was left in an apartment for several days. Despite struggling through a rough patch in his life, and being in shelter care for 5 months, he still kept his manners. Favorably, Mister Vader comprehends many commands--including Paw, Sit, Stay, Lay Down, and how to get into his kennel! Such a smart pup! He loves his treats, does anything to get one, and is not aggressive with his food. Keeping Vader clean is easy. Just be sure he is comfortable and calm and he will love it! This boy is also 7 years young!

Vader loves to play ball and with his other toys, so having a fun game of fetch is an excellent way to entertain the pupper! While he likes to meet other dogs, Vader often likes to mind his own business; even pulling a bit on the leash to get an in-depth whiff of his surroundings. Vader is curious! Though very sweet with children, he gets too excited at first meeting them and may scare some little ones with Zoomies. If you take Vader home, he would love you endlessly, sneaking in an extra long cuddle for good measure; if he's feeling extra lovey, he's willing for a hug too! This sweet boy needs any kind of love you can give.

Story
Hi!  My name is Duke and I love warm hugs and belly rubs.  I’m a 9-year, old 80lb weim mix and my foster family tells me I’m amazing.  I have excellent house manner. I take treats gently from you and I don’t have any food or toy aggression.  I’m a pretty happy go lucky guy and I consider myself pretty low maintenance.  I love to sit and watch TV while you rub my belly.  I’m happy to listen to you tell me about your day (preferably while you’re rubbing my belly), I enjoy hanging out in the backyard with you, and I enjoy neighborhood walks.  I walk well on a leash and it doesn’t have to be a crazy long walk.  A nice 15-20 minute walk and I’m completely happy. Sometimes I get a little carried away and try to pull if I see a crazy squirrel (I can be strong) , but mostly I walk along with you and don’t pull.   I’m also a great car rider.  I like to look out the window and then I’ll lay down and enjoy the ride while you’re my chauffer.  I’m no back seat driver.    I recently went to a meet and greet for Weimaraner Rescue of Texas at a local brewery and I was very well behaved so I might even be a good boy that could enjoy going to a patio for coffee or drinks if you want company doing that.   I’m currently living with two fur foster siblings and I get along great with them.   I lived with some cats and bunnies before and I was a little too curious about them so probably best to not share a home with them.  I would really love to have a home with a backyard to watch over and a nice comfy couch to snooze on.  I am doggie door trained so if you have one of those it would be great.  I would be happy as a single dog or in a home with a doggie buddy to hang out with.  Probably a medium to large doggie companion so I don’t confuse them with the crazy felines.    You might be wondering how I ended up in rescue.  It seems I lived with my human and had a loving home until they got sick.  The rest of the family wasn’t able to take me in so I ended up in a shelter.  Luckily rescue scooped me up and now I’ll wait patiently until my new forever family finds me.   If you’re interested in learning more about me, please contact Weimaraner Rescue of Texas and they can tell you more about what an amazing guy I am.  Have a great day!  Oh, did I mention I love belly rubs!!!!!   ##1481663##

Story
Hi, my name is Luca! I’m a 5-year-old, 79-pound, gray male. I’m a sweet and energetic Weim. I have been fostered in a house with older children/teenagers and another Weim who has become my best buddy. My foster brother and I love to play and wrestle with one another. I enjoy chasing balls (though I’m still working on bringing them back to my foster parents when I’m done); I enjoy chewing on dog toys and blankets but am not destructive. I will lay on my dog bed with a toy or chew and entertain myself. I am a great house dog; I love to be near my people and fit the definition of “Velcro dog.” I love to come up to people for a pat and scratch behind the ears. When my favorite people come home from a long day at school or work, I sometimes gently jump up to hug them. My foster parents have been teaching me to sit and stay when I greet people. I do bark when I see people or dogs out the window. I would love to cuddle up next to my owners while they watch TV or read if I’m allowed on the furniture. I’m well behaved in the house; although I was crate trained in my former home, my current foster parents leave me unattended for up to 4 hours in the house with my foster brother, with no issues. But do not leave food out unattended on the counter even if you are home as I have the common Weim trait of counter surfing if there is food left out! I am housetrained and figured out the dog door the day I got to my foster home. I am very smart and know some commands; I’m excellent at “sit” and “stay”; and I also know some commands in Spanish such as “aqui” (here). My foster parents have been working on teaching me “heel” and “leave it.” I’m eager to learn more. I am not an escape artist if I have an outlet for my energy. I get very excited when it’s time to go on walks and be outside, but sometimes I react to other dogs when I’m on the leash, particularly big dogs and dogs that are barking at me from behind their fence. My foster parents have been working on training me to sit and stay and receive treats when I see other dogs and people out walking. I have been working hard on this and am improving, but I will benefit from continued training. I would love life at a home where I had a big yard or property to run around in. My foster parents are not sure about my prey drive as I haven’t been around cats or small animals. My foster parents feed me separately from my foster brother, as my foster brother doesn’t like to share food. I am being fostered in the San Antonio area and looking for my forever home.   ##1883090##

Story
Maisie is a 10-year-old, 65-pound, gray female that was surrendered by her owner to the shelter.  She is a wonderful dog with a sweet personality.  She loves companionship and enjoys both working and playing.  In the past she has experienced fellings of overwhelm which resulted in some insecurity and social hesitations.  However, she has successfully been through behavior modification training to help her build confidence, resiliency, and trust in others.  She does a great job in being confident when she has a confident leader.  She will do best in a home with owners that will have harmony between being active with her and also have the ability to be calm and relaxed.  She will not do well in a home with children or other dogs.  She will thrive where there is as little chaos as possible and people that will provide her with consistency, boundaries and structure.  She might be hesitant meeting new people or new dogs.  A calm and patient owner, with positive reinforcement, will be best for her. Maisie went through heartworm treatment but is now heartworm negative.  Maisie is a big snuggler and likes to demand your attention and she also loves to play with her toys. She is being fostered in the DFW metroplex if you are interested in adopting her. ##1645377##

Story
Wilma is a lovely special girl who was rescued from a poor situation.  She is a 2-year-old, 65-ish pound, gray girl and bouncy as all young weimaraners are.  Wilma thrives on attention and is a typical velcro weimaraner, wanting to be close to her family always, and striving to please them.  Wilma is highly intelligent and has learned to sit, wait, lay down and walk on a leash.  She picks up cues from her family, and will adapt her needs to yours. Strong guidelines are encouraged.  Wilma has been crated. She is not happy being left alone, and is still learning that her family comes back.  Playtime and quiet times have been scheduled, and she does well with “bonetime” as a means of settling down.  Wilma has not been recall trained yet, and needs extensive time on leash and in fenced yards before that can happen.  She definitely has a prey drive for small animals. I would not trust her with a cat.  She gets along well with dogs her size and larger, but needs to be reminded that not all dogs play as intently or for as long as she does.  She would do better as an only dog and with someone that is home with her frequently. A great match for Wilma would be with a retired couple or family who has the desire and time to commit to her continued training, especially if they already have a weimaraner to continue her training and socialization.  ##1913220##

Story
Arlo is a beautiful 5-year-old, 80-pound, gray male that will need a foster family to go through heartworm treatment after he is finished with his training.  Arlo is already learning loose leash walking and place and will be working more with dogs his size to not resource guard things he thinks are his.  If you are looking to foster/adopt a dog that has gone through full obedience training and willing to work with the trainer to continue and follow through with his training then apply today.  He will be ready to start his injections in mid-March. He is being trained in the DFW area for introductions/inquiries. ##1948147##

Story
D E L A N E Y is a joy and a jewel of a pup; 20 months, 45 lbs of innocent love and curiosity. After living from 8 weeks to February of this year in an apartment with a lonely human since she was loved but not exposed to the big world. She has graduated training school and just loves the outdoors and a comfy indoor life. She walks very well on a leash, she gets very excited to meet other dogs, especially larger ones and amuses herself quite well with all her toys. She is an active girl and will do best in a home with a roomy back yard and an active human who ideally works from home and can exercise her daily. She gets along very well with other dogs, is interested in cats but has not lived with them and she will absolutely entertain herself chasing squirrels and watching birds outdoors. She is not the least bit destructive except with her stuffed toys and tug of rope. She is currently in a foster home in Dallas. Fully vetted and ready for her furever home! If you feel your home might be the right place for this wonderful dog, the place to start is with the adoption application found at www.dfwrescueme.org/adopt.  Once submitted, the foster will contact you to tell you more, and to arrange a meeting! The adoption fee for all of our dogs is $250.00, which includes their vaccinations and spay/neuter. Delaney is participating in the DFW Rescue Me Guest Dog Program, so custody and ongoing care are provided by the foster, not by DFWRM.April 19, 2024, 9:21 pm

Howdy I’m Sophie My dad died suddenly and my sister and I were left to fend for ourselves until someone came to help and realized we needed help too. It was a scary few weeks but we are both safe now and hoping to find someone to love us as much as our dad did.  I’m past all those youngster shenanigans and love to cuddle, hang out with friends and spend time in the sunshine. Walks would be great and I won’t complain if you have treats to share. If you are a Weim lover you already know that we get better as we age! Falling for me... Discover Bee: Our Gentle Soul in a World of Constant Wonder Bee has a heart full of love and a touch of quirk Loves: Predictable routines, the companionship of other dogs, her special selection of toys, and the serenity of a peaceful environment. A Little Shy: With new experiences and loud noises. Bee's Unique Journey - Living in a Familiar Yet Ever-New World: Like the captivating story of "50 First Dates," Bee's life is a beautiful blend of comforting routine and gentle discovery. Her soft, expressive eyes tell a tale of a loving soul who finds joy in the familiar and navigates the new with cautious curiosity. Bee's Daily Adventures: Each day for Bee is a quiet journey through well-loved paths. She finds solace in the predictability of her daily routines, from sunlit morning play to evening snuggles. The company of other dogs is always a delight, as she engages with a shy but genuine playfulness. Her toys, though few, are cherished companions in her tranquil world. Bee's Gentle Approach to Life: While Bee may tread carefully around new experiences and prefers the quietude of her environment, her approach to life is a lesson in finding beauty in simplicity. She reminds us that there's comfort in routine, and even in a familiar world, there's always something new to cherish. Bee’s Playful Side: In the safety of her known surroundings, Bee's playful nature emerges. She might cautiously approach a toy as if it's a new discovery each day, bringing a smile to those who know her well. Bee’s Philosophy: "Life doesn't have to be loud to be full of joy. In the whispers of the familiar, in the quiet play with friends, and in the gentle discovery of everyday things, there's a world of wonder waiting to be appreciated."Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 19, 2024, 6:28 pm

Story
Hello, I'm Pumpernickel! I'll be honest I was a little scared at first, but I'm getting the hang of everything now. It took me a little bit to get used to leash walking, but it is a way for me to get outside so I picked it up pretty quick. The people around here say I have been doing so good that I'm ready to go to a forever home. So, the search begins... FOSTER TESTIMOINIAL: "House trained, doesn't beg for food, very gentle when taking food by hand, loves affection and to cuddle."MY HOME: I would love a place with some outdoor space. But I'm really not picky as long as we get to go outside and explore. KIDS: I can be on the shy side, how about you bring them in to meet me. DOGS: Why don't we go ahead and meet them first too. APPOINTMENT TYPE: None needed! Come meet me any day 12pm-6pm!

Story
COURTESY POST: Hello everyone! My name is Annie (short for Anakin)! I’m a super happy, upbeat, loving, 60-pound, approximately 2 year old female Catahoula Leopard Dog Mix. I’m an amazing dog that LOVES kids, other dogs and spending time with people. I’m very strong and may look intimidating, but I just want a belly rub, time playing with my toys and taking naps in your lap. My favorite games are Tug-of-War and Hide & Go Seek. I love playing Hide & Go Seek because when I find you, I’m truly thrilled and I can cover you with slobbery kisses. Afterwards, we can play again! Also, one of my favorite pastimes is to jump on the trampoline with my person. I love to have fun with everyone! Some important details about my health: I have all my shots, I’m spayed and I’m in good health. Furthermore, I am potty-trained, crate-trained and very food-motivated! Unfortunately, my life was not filled with too much joy in my early months. I had puppies, but tragically, they were taken away from me a few days after they were born. Also, I was kicked out of my home and had to find refuge in the cold, dark streets right after I had just given birth. When I was found, I was very thin, scared and sad. Nevertheless, I’m doing much better now and I can’t wait to find a new home! I hope you can consider adopting me because all I want to do is love, be loved and play together! If you adopt me, we will be best friends forever! We are a RESCUE GROUP, not a shelter, and all of our animals are in foster homes. To start the adoption process, email us at adoptions@earstexas.org requesting an application. Submitting an application does not commit you in any way, but helps us make the best match between people and our available dogs. Your current or past dogs must be inside dogs who have been spayed/neutered and are on heartworm prevention. All of the dogs in our program are inside dogs and are completely vetted including all vaccinations, spayed/neutered, free of internal parasites, microchipped, heartworm negative and on prevention before adoption. Our adoption process includes an application, check of vet records or personal references, interview, neutral site meet & greet with the dog and your family, and a home visit.

Are you looking to welcome a Senior Dog into your heart? Izzy is ready to spend the rest of her golden days in a home of her own. Izzy savors life at a relaxed pace. She is independent and finds comfort on a cozy couch. While she's content to stroll on a leash, she's not one for extensive walks. An afternoon of relaxation on the couch is preferable to a trip to the dog park.

If you're wondering about Izzy's breed, a DNA test revealed her genetic makeup:
42.5% American Pit Bull Terrier
27.9% Akita
14.1% Australian Cattle Dog
7.5% Boxer
8.0% Supermutt

If Izzy's unhurried lifestyle is what you are looking for, send in an application to meet your perfect match!
