That beautiful, large-eyed specter you see floating in the corner of the room is Smokey: a blue-gray spirit who, when he ceases to be ectoplasm and acquires solid form, transforms into a beautiful, medium-sized dog with unclassifiable fur. We found him on a full moon night, fluttering around some children playing with a Ouija board. Smokey is a happy ghost, with moderate energy and a sweet, submissive temperament, who isn't quite succeeding at his job as a people-scarer and would prefer to stay on this plane, with humans, so he could eat (he loves to eat!), sleep, play, and follow you everywhere, like the ethereal, pure, and light shadow he is.This dog is currently in foster care in La Paz, Mexico, but will be transported upon adoption or foster placement. As a U.S. nonprofit, Hope 4 La Pawz, handles all logistics and provides full behavioral and medical info in advance.

Tom: The Easygoing GentlemanTom has developed a fairly sensible philosophy about life. Sleep when you're tired. Walk when there's somewhere interesting to go. Play when the opportunity presents itself. And whenever possible, do all of the above with good company.Tom is a happy, calm, and playful guy who seems to understand that life doesn't need to be complicated to be good. He enjoys a nice walk, a little playtime, and a well-earned nap. And if there's someone to share those activities with, so much the better. He's also remarkably open-minded about who qualifies as good company. Dogs? Wonderful. Cats? Absolutely. Children? Bring them along. Tom apparently believes there's room for everyone in his social circle.His past makes that outlook even more remarkable. Tom was abandoned at a university, where other dogs were attacking him. Someone rescued him, but instead of finding a permanent home, he was eventually returned to the street. You might expect an experience like that to leave Tom suspicious of the world. Apparently, Tom had other ideas. Today, he's described as a wonderful, loving companion. He comes when called, walks nicely alongside his person, and has a medium energy level that allows him to enjoy both activity and relaxation. Tom isn't looking for a grand adventure or a complicated life. He'd just like what he should have had all along: A safe place to sleep. Walks to enjoy. Friends to play with. People to love. Story
Meet Patty! This lovely grey girlie is an energetic Poodle mix. She loves to run, play and be active. She is no couch potato! Patty gets along with other dogs and would love to have a friendly pal to share a home with. Patty is just about a year old and did not have the greatest start in life. She is just beginning her training journey and is a smart cookie. She needs some re-directing at times but it eager to learn. She can guard her food bowl at times and we are working on this with her. She is best in a home without young children for this reason. Older kids (10+) are ok. If you like to walk, hike and adventure, Patty is your girl! A home with a yard is a must for this cutie.  Patty is spayed, vaccinated and chipped. Her adoption fee is $450 We cover the medical to prepare the pet for adoption and the adopt donations go directly to cover those costs and range from $295-$495.  Thank you for stepping up to save a life!
