Story
Ginger is a 5-6year old mixed breed. She was surrendered by her previous owner after veterinary staff discovered she was severely neglected. I have spent the past year getting her back up to a proper weight and trying to correct the mistreatment she received. But I work 12-hour shifts in a veterinary ER and she needs more exercise and time with her people. She has a few underlying behavioral issues remaining from her previous home related to insecurity and mistreatment which the right person and time should be able to address. She is playful, energetic and loves to learn and go for walks and runs. She would do best in a home with no other pets. I’ve not had her around children.

Story
Athena is a sweet girl, but she is very resource guarded we had an incident with our other senior male dog and herself. Do to this incident we now need to rehome her. She does not do well with other animals. She polices walks, jumping, and getting attention from her owner, we are newly pregnant and expecting our first child in November. We currently have both dogs separated in our house and they don’t see each other. So she has her own space and is doing very well during this transition period! She loves to play and is easy to love. She can be sweet with people but requires an experienced owner who understands dog behavior and can provide a safe environment with no other animals. She does better also with children ages 5 and up! This is an urgent rehoming situation. I want her placed responsibly and safely. Please message only if you are serious and able to handle a dog that needs to be an only pet.

Story
Hi! I'm Fancy! Well for now at least. I am not really a "fancy", but my foster mom isn't sure what my name SHOULD be yet and honestly, I'm just happy to be around her so I don't care what she calls me. I will LITERALLY answer to ANY name she calls me! I am a young girl, probably 2-3 years old or so. I weigh 33 pounds and am full grown. I appear to be something called a "Labrador" and a "Whippet". I don't know what that means, but I am a petite muscular girl and I am super athletic. I LOVE my people, but I am scared of strangers. See at one point, I taken in by someone who kept a bunch of dogs and loved us, but couldn't care for us. I was not spayed and so I got pregnant and had to have my babies outside. When my owner had to move, me, my 6 babies, and my 30 or so fellow dogs had to find new places to live. Thankfully FHS was able to take my family and 7 other dogs in. My puppies were all adopted and now it is my turn. However, I had lost my trust of people. I am gaining it back, one person at a time. Once I am comfortable with you and at home, I am HAPPY! I love to play in the yard and run zoomies outside. I am a snuggler and I love scratches from my people. I am very treat motivated and I know exactly what time breakfast and dinner is. I love my fluffy blankets and I will stare my foster mom if my blanket is in the wash. I also LOVE exploring new places , hiking, and going on car rides. I enjoy playing with other dogs and, while I do not need another dog in my forever home, I would do best with a housemate. I do get nervous when my family leaves me behind (I do fine in a crate, but I will bark), but if I have a housemate nearby I am happy. I am not sure if I am good around cats or kids yet. I am mostly housetrained, but I will need a family who can keep on top of it for me. If I need to go and no one is around to listen to my signals, then I will go in my house. I do NEED a fenced in yard. I am very loyal to my person, but I can get scared of new things and new noises so it is safest if I can have a fenced in yard while I am outside. Story
Patsy (as in Klein) I am the middle child in lots of ways, and weigh 25 pounds.  I have been spayed (yes, that was quite the day) and have all of my shots.  I am always curious and brave and for sure the most adventurous.  I was the first to learn the stairs and really had to master the outside stairs with open treads (super scary).  I am most assuredly the child that loves to be in the center of it, finding the bone that everyone wants or just the stick!  I am also sweet and loving but a bit more independent than my sibs.  I love to play with my sibs the most but rest assured I can play alone too, as I really like to be the winner for the stuffies.  I too am quickly learning all the things I should know to be a good girl, sit, potty, (outside is command), love my treats and very motivated.  I follow my FM everywhere too as we are a bit of a pack FM thinks we look like hunting hounds when we are all together as the pack with our beautiful Ombre of browns.  If you had to describe my “look” it’s a bit whippet and hound, but my head and ears are like a whippet (no chance that’s in my family tree!)  I look forward to meeting new friends and continuing my curiosity journey!June 3, 2026, 11:43 pm

Story
All Southern Crescent Canine Rescue pets are spayed or neutered, all vaccinations are up to date, heartworm negative, and microchipped. We suggest follow-up intestinal worming two weeks after adoption.  We require monthly heartworm preventive after adoption!Oh my goodness!  Can you see her beauty in the photos?  She is graceful, refined, and has grey eyes.  She is smart, well-mannered, silly, and FUN!  She is wonderful on the leash, sitting for treats, and housebreaking. This special girl is just so attracted to children, and is gentle and respectful with kids and other dogs her size.  She does love to play and run, but settles down for snuggle time. Love her toys and cushy bed. She will guard your yard from evil squirrels, so we suggest no cats.  She is NOT a housedog; she prefers to be outside. This is a perfect family dog!   FENCED YARD REQUIRED                                  'We Are Rescue' Until you have held a tiny puppy in your arms as it kissed your face with slobbery puppy breath and felt the love, Until you have held an injured or severely ill dog in your arms and felt their pain, Until you have looked into the eyes of a tired aging senior dog and felt their wisdom, And until you have seen and understood the look in your dogs eyes that tell you their time on earth with you is over .... and you humanely let them go, You will never understand the life of a rescuer. We find beauty in the most incomprehensible places and the otherwise homely faces. It is our gift to see beyond the dirt, terror, sadness and defeat and find the true soul that lies within.
