Story
Hello! My name is Kolo, and I'm an energetic 4-year-old Indian pariah dog. I was rescued from the streets of India as a puppy and got adopted in New Jersey. Sadly, my family is not able to care for me any longer so I'm looking for a forever home where I can live rest of my life and share all my love. Here are some things you should know about me: Energetic and Active: I love daily long walks and need plenty of exercise to keep me happy and healthy. High Prey Drive: It's best to keep me in a fenced yard to ensure I don't get into any trouble chasing after small animals. So, I cannot be around small animals in the house. Smart and Trained: I know a variety of commands and am crate trained, so I'm already ahead of the game! Sensitive Soul: Due to my early life experiences, I'm very fearful of new people and other dogs. I do best as the only dog in the house. Great with Older Kids: I get along well with older children who can respect my boundaries and understand my needs. Needs a Strong Leader: I'm looking for a strong, experienced dog owner who can continue my training and help me build my confidence every day. If you think you can provide the loving, structured home I need, please contact Rescuewithoutborders@gmail.com for an adoption application. I can't wait to meet my new family and start our adventures together!

Story
SPEEDWAGON - 1 year, 30lbs, Whippet/Terrier Mix, Neutered  This dog is available for foster to adopt. Please email fostertoadopt@socialteesnyc.org with the animal’s name in the subject line if you are interested! Want to straight up adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org. Our Team Says: "Speedwagon needs a home in a calm part of the city - BK, Queens, etc. He would thrive in the burbs. He's not meant to be a city boy."  His Foster Parent Says: "Speedy is a wonderful, sweet boy who is remarkably well behaved and he’s been a joy to have by my side. He’s an affectionate, playful pup with a great balance of energy and calm: he's always up for a game of tug or fetch, a training session, or a long walk, but also content to chew on a bone or nap while I work. His daily routine includes a long morning walk (70 mins minutes), a shorter one later in the day (45-60 mins), two short potty breaks (15 mins) and plenty of enrichment in between (sniff mat, lick mat, and chew toys). He sleeps soundly through the night in his crate and is fully housetrained (no fuss with potty breaks!). He’s food-motivated and eager to train: he has sit, down, paw, and touch in his repertoire and we’re working on stay and switch now. He has a very cute little prance when he’s happy or curious or following me around doing chores, and he nuzzles in for cuddles throughout the day. We are still working on a few things: he can be jumpy on people and furniture, occasionally mouthy during play, and has some work to do with on-leash behavior. He has been improving every day with consistent rewards, redirections, and corrections!" Level of dog ownership experience needed:INTERMEDIATE: This dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day. The adopter must have relevant primary care experience with a similar breed, temperament, and/or energy level. (Primary care experience includes ownership, fostering, or dog sitting as an adult, not a dog you grew up with.) Energy level:MEDIUM: Needs a daily 60-90 minute walk or window of quick paced exercise (minimum) in addition to potty break strolls (10-30 min each). Also needs significant socializing opportunities outside the home and mental stimulation at home like tricks training practice, chew items, and puzzle toys. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.)  Cuddle Bug Level High — Wants to be in your lap pretty much all the time  Potty TrainedYes — Few or no accidents  Comfy with strangers? Yep — Wants to be friends with everyone who walks by, super social butterfly, loves anyone who will stop to say hello. Comfortable with Children? (ALWAYS requires supervision) - n/a or unsure Social with Other Dogs? Mostly — Generally good with other dogs but may be picky - he displays friendly and playful behavior with our resident dog. Unsure about other dogs though! Mouthy Behavior? Higher  – We don't believe he was ever trained to not be mouthy. Wants to put everything in their mouth. Tries to chew on your hands when playing or needs attention, grabs the leash with its mouth, loves to gnaw on your personal belongings. We are working on training that out of him. Saying no, no biting or ow. Replacement toys. He is fast to stop or let go.  Leash Manners? Getting the Hang of it – Probably hasn’t been on a leash much in its life but he/she is figuring it out. Might be a mild puller but responds to correction.  Okay in the city? Needs to live in a calm area - NOT a city boy — Spooked easily by loud noises and bustling areas but walks pretty well and probably just needs more time to adjust Jumping on People to Say Hi? Medium – Jumps up only on people the dog knows when really excited. Stops with correction and further training.  Separation Anxiety? Low – Completely fine being left home alone. Usually found on the couch. Just have to make sure the house is safe as he is still mouthy Crate training? Not at all – We are working on getting one, just so he begins to have an option. Medical statusHealthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; heartworm negative; spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake  How this dog ended up with Social Tees:Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee or St. Thomas. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses though!  This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes. Deena’s calm, happy spirit brings warmth and sunshine wherever she goes, making her a truly special companion. Her Story Deena, her mom, and her siblings were found abandoned near a hotel. Thanks to the incredible team at SOS El Arca Animal Rescue, the entire family was brought to safety, and all the puppies were raised in a secure, loving environment. Surrounded by care and gentle guidance from dedicated volunteers, Deena blossomed into a confident, affectionate young pup who is now ready for a forever home. Personality & Training Deena loves playtime, cuddles, and exploring the world around her. She is smart, eager to please, and learns quickly. She walks beautifully on a leash and responds very well to positive reinforcement. With consistency and patience, she will continue to thrive and make a wonderful walking and adventure companion. Story
Meet Milo — a 6-month-old, 20-lbs sweetheart with a soft soul, gentle eyes, and a heart full of love ❤️ Milo is a thoughtful, gentle young boy with a calm and affectionate nature. He takes in the world with curiosity and care, and once he’s comfortable, his sweet personality truly shines. Milo forms strong bonds with his people and is the kind of pup who will be deeply loyal and loving to his family. Rescued as a puppy, Milo has been raised in a safe, nurturing environment thanks to our partner SOS el Arca Animal Rescue. This solid foundation has helped him grow into a well-mannered, loving pup who is ready to continue blossoming in a forever home. Milo does wonderfully with other dogs and would especially thrive in a home with a confident canine companion. Having another dog helps him feel comfortable, learn routines, and gain confidence through positive social interaction. He’s gentle with children and is curious—but respectful—around cats, and would do well with proper introductions. He is crate trained and currently working on potty training. With a consistent routine and continued positive reinforcement, Milo is expected to keep making great progress. He will do best in a home that offers structure, patience, and encouragement as he continues to grow. We highly recommend puppy classes or confidence-building training for Milo—not only to support his learning, but also to strengthen the bond with his new family and help him continue developing into a well-rounded companion. Milo is fully vetted and ready for his forever home: -Neutered -Microchipped -Fully vaccinated -Dewormed -4DX tested (heartworm negative) -On flea, tick, and heartworm prevention Milo has the opportunity to travel to New York on January 24th, but he can only make the trip with a committed adopter, foster-to-adopt, or foster home in place. If you’re looking for a gentle, loving pup who will thrive with companionship and guidance, Milo may be the perfect addition to your family. Fill out an adoption application and email it to us at sosanimalwelfare@gmail.com — we’ll happily get back to you. Milo is ready for his next chapter—one filled with love, security, and a family to call his own ❤️

Story
Meet Zack — a 6-month-old, 18 lbs pup full of heart, curiosity, and joyful energy Zack is a sweet, gentle boy with a loving personality and a playful puppy spirit. He enjoys the company of other dogs, thrives on human affection, and loves being near his people. With his soulful eyes and kind nature, Zack has a special way of winning hearts wherever he goes. Zack’s journey began when he was found wandering along a busy road. Thankfully, a compassionate passerby stepped in and brought him to our partner rescue, SOS el Arca Animal Rescue. There, Zack was given the care and safety he needed to grow up healthy, happy, and secure. Now, he’s ready for the next chapter — a forever home of his own. Zack has the chance to travel to New York in January, but this can only happen if an adopter or foster-to-adopt family steps forward in time. He is adaptable, eager to learn, and gentle by nature, making him a great match for many different types of homes. He does well with other dogs, is wonderful with children, and shows a curious but respectful interest in cats. Zack loves companionship and would be happiest in a home where he’s included as part of everyday life. Zack is crate trained, and his potty training is already underway. With a consistent routine and positive reinforcement, he’s expected to continue making great progress. Like all puppies, Zack would benefit from a positive-reinforcement puppy training class to help build confidence and strengthen good manners as he grows.
