Story
**Health Status:** Latte is generally healthy. He is neutered, fully recovered from surgery, and receives monthly heartworm prevention on the 10th of each month. No known allergies. He shows excellent behavior during veterinary visits with no signs of fear or aggression. --- ### **Rescue Story** On a bitterly cold winter day, January 7, 2026, two Whippets were reported abandoned on a roadside. The dogs were extremely underweight—thin enough that their bones were visible—yet they were still wearing clothes, making it clear they had been deliberately discarded by humans. The two dogs, later named **Latte** and **Tosi**, are believed to be siblings and appear to have lived together their entire lives. Our team immediately rescued them, provided medical evaluations, and began rehabilitation care. Although we are actively investigating the individuals responsible for their abandonment, only circumstantial evidence has been secured so far, making legal action difficult at this time. After more than a month of careful recovery and observation, both dogs are now healthy and emotionally stable enough to begin their adoption journey. While a **bonded adoption** would be ideal, we are also open to placing them separately in exceptional homes if it means long-term safety and love. --- ### **Personality** Latte has a gentle, affectionate temperament and is often described as having a soft, almost “sweet and ladylike” demeanor. He is calm, observant, and emotionally sensitive, yet still enjoys playtime and interaction. * **With dogs:** Excellent. He loves other dogs and plays well. * **With cats:** Friendly and curious—he wants to greet all animals. * **With adults & children:** Loves everyone. Very people-oriented and affectionate. **Energy level (1–10):** * Latte: 7 at peak excitement Overall, Latte is moderate-energy and well-balanced. --- ### **Daily Life & Behavior** * **Bathing:** Not a fan of water, but cooperative and gentle. He may tremble during baths but remains calm and manageable. * **Leash manners:** Excellent. Calm and focused during walks. * **House training:** * Uses pee pads indoors (about 80% accuracy). * Latte tends to use the edge of the pad. * Both dogs have designated areas for bowel movements. * They defecate frequently during walks, indicating high potential for full outdoor potty training. * **Barking/Howling:** * Occasional barking when hearing other dogs outside. * Latte briefly showed howling due to separation anxiety, but this resolved completely within 3 days and is believed to have been situational. * **Car rides:** No known motion sickness (Tosi experiences motion sickness, Latte does not). --- ### **Food & Resource Behavior** Latte has a strong food drive, likely due to past neglect. He eats well and loves treats. Tosi shows mild food-guarding behaviors toward Latte (blocking access, guarding his bowl) but **never shows aggression**. Latte himself is gentle and non-confrontational. --- ### **Likes & Dislikes** * **Loves:** Human laps, physical affection, food, toys * **Dislikes:** Butt wiping 😅 --- ### **Training** * No formal commands yet * Responds to recall approximately 80% of the time * Will stand up on his hind legs when someone pats their chest and calls him * Runs out excitedly when he hears “Mom is leaving!” --- ### **Current Living Situation** Currently in a foster home following group rescue. --- ### **Ideal Home** Latte (and ideally Tosi) is looking for a family who: * Understands the **Whippet breed**, including their sensitivity and need for warmth and closeness * Values gentle handling and emotional security * Is committed to lifelong companionship Latte and Tosi are deeply bonded—sleeping together, playing together, and relying on each other emotionally. A home that welcomes both would be a dream come true. However, we are open to separate adoptions if each dog is placed in an exceptionally loving and stable environment. --- **Latte in three words:** Gentle, affectionate, emotionally intuitive 💙 Adoption Fee Information The adoption fee already includes all major expenses, such as: International transportation, Customs and export documentation, Medical care (spay surgery, vaccinations, health certificate, deworming, etc.) For this reason, we kindly ask that you refrain from requesting a breakdown or negotiation of the adoption fee. Your support directly helps us continue rescuing and caring for dogs in need, and we sincerely appreciate your understanding.

A bonded adoption with Latte would be ideal, but we are also considering separate placements in exceptional homes. **Personality** While Latte is gentle and soft, **Tosi is confident and bold**. He has a big presence, a playful spirit, and what his foster describes as a true “leader” personality. Despite his confidence, he is affectionate, people-oriented, and deeply attached to those he trusts. * **With dogs:** Very social and enthusiastic. Loves interaction and play. * **With cats:** Curious and friendly; wants to greet all animals. * **With adults & children:** Loves everyone and seeks attention readily. **Energy level (1–10):** Tosi: 9 at peak excitement** He becomes especially animated during playtime and when toys are involved. **Daily Life & Behavior** * **Bathing:** Not fond of water, but cooperative. Stays calm during washing and face cleaning. * **Leash manners:** Energetic. He tries to greet every dog and person he sees. * **House training:** * Uses pee pads indoors (about 80% accuracy). * Bowel movements tend to occur in specific areas. * Frequently defecates during walks, suggesting high potential for outdoor potty training. * **Barking/Howling:** * May bark when hearing other dogs outside, but not excessive. * **Car rides:** Experiences motion sickness approximately 80% of the time. --- **Food & Resource Behavior** Tosi has a strong food drive, likely due to past neglect. He sometimes guards his own food bowl and may block Latte from approaching while eating, but **he has never shown aggression**. Clear structure and supervised feeding resolve this easily. --- **Likes & Dislikes** * **Loves:** Human laps, physical affection, food, toys * **Dislikes:** Butt wiping 😅 --- **Training** * No formal commands yet * Recall success rate: approximately 80% * Responds excitedly to verbal cues and human attention --- **Current Living Situation** Currently in a foster home following group rescue. **Ideal Home** Tosi is looking for a family who: * Understands the **Whippet breed**, including their sensitivity and high emotional needs * Can provide clear boundaries, enrichment, and consistent routines * Is committed to lifelong companionship He shares a deep bond with his brother Latte—sleeping together, playing together, and relying on each other emotionally. A bonded adoption would be ideal, but individual placement may be considered for the right home. **Tosi in three words:** Confident, energetic, big-hearted 💙 Adoption Fee Information The adoption fee already includes all major expenses, such as: International transportation, Customs and export documentation, Medical care (spay surgery, vaccinations, health certificate, deworming, etc.) For this reason, we kindly ask that you refrain from requesting a breakdown or negotiation of the adoption fee. Story
Meet Grinch – A Gentle Soul Ready for His Forever Home Grinch is a sweet, resilient 4-year-old, 40-lb boy with a calm spirit and a kind heart. He has a gentle, thoughtful nature and approaches the world with quiet curiosity. Grinch truly enjoys companionship — he’s the kind of dog who bonds deeply and becomes a loyal friend for life. Grinch was surrendered by his owner when she could no longer afford to care for him and three other dogs. It was a heartbreaking but loving decision. She brought them to our rescue partner, SOS el Arca Animal Rescue, where Grinch has received shelter, stability, and compassionate care. Despite the uncertainty in his early life, Grinch has remained gentle, trusting, and deeply appreciative of kindness. With consistency and love, he truly blossoms. Grinch does well with other dogs and loves to play. He enjoys going for walks, and when volunteers take him out for even a 15-minute stroll, his joy is undeniable — he wiggles his hips side to side the entire time. He’s simply so happy to explore the world! He also knows how to relax and cuddle. After some fresh air and adventure, he’s content to settle in close and soak up affection. Grinch would be a wonderful companion for someone who enjoys walks in a park, outdoor adventures, exploring the city, and quiet cuddle time at home. He would thrive in a home with another playful dog, but he could also be perfectly happy as the only dog, soaking up all the love and attention. Anyone who gives Grinch a chance will be rewarded with a deeply loyal, loving companion — the kind of once-in-a-lifetime dog who never forgets the kindness shown to him. We would love to bring Grinch to New York on our August transport, but he can only make the journey with a committed adopter or foster-to-adopt home in place. Grinch has already endured too much uncertainty in his life. His next chapter deserves security, love, and belonging. Grinch is neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated, heartworm tested (negative), dewormed, on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention, and crate trained. If you’re looking for a gentle soul who will truly appreciate the home you give him, Grinch may be the perfect match. Please fill out our adoption application at sosanimalwelfare.org and email it to sosanimalwelfare@gmail.com with any questions. Grinch is ready for his fresh start — and for a family who will never let him feel abandoned again.

Story
Meet Isabella – Sweet, Gentle Whippet Mix Looking for a Second Chance Isabella is a beautiful 1-year-old Whippet mix weighing about 35 lbs. She has a soft, gentle personality and is looking for a loving home where she can feel safe and secure again. Isabella previously had a home where she was loved and cared for. Sadly, her owner’s health declined due to severe diabetes, and with great sadness he made the difficult decision to place her in rescue so she could have the life she deserves. The transition has been confusing for Isabella, and shelter life can feel overwhelming for such a sensitive dog. She may be a little shy when first meeting new people, but with patience, kindness, and a few treats she slowly begins to open up. Once she feels comfortable, her affectionate and playful personality really shines. Isabella absolutely loves other dogs. Being around canine friends helps her feel confident, and she enjoys running and playing. Watching her in the play area shows what a happy young dog she truly is. She would do best in a calm, patient home where she can take the time she needs to build trust and confidence. In return, she will form a deep bond with the people who give her the love and security she deserves. Isabella has the opportunity to travel to New York on the next transport in August, but she needs an adopter or foster-to-adopt home in time. Isabella is fully vetted:
-Spayed
-Microchipped
-Fully vaccinated
- Dewormed
- 4DX tested
-On flea, tick, and heartworm prevention (Simparica)
-Crate trained
-Walks well on leash
If you’re looking for a gentle, affectionate companion, Isabella may be the perfect addition to your family. To adopt Isabella, please complete an application and email sosanimalwelfare@gmail.com.
