Meet Sophia…. Sophia is an adorable puppy, thought to be a Whippet – Black Lab Mix; she’s petite with a dainty bone structure vs the more solid bone structure of a Lab!! She’s very smart, a quick learner, very alert and quite energetic!! At about 4 months, Sophia weighs 16 lbs. It is most important to note that we cannot be 100% sure of her adult weight, but our best guess is about 35-40 lbs. This cute pup joined BAARK from an overcrowded shelter in Kentucky earlier this year. She is thought to have been born around November 24 2022. When joining our rescue program, Sophia appeared happy, playful, and must have sensed that she was “free!” and safe!! Sophia is very sociable, outgoing, playful, and is great with dogs, but can be annoying to older, more well mannered dogs; she would be far too energetic for a senior (dog or human!) An ideal family for Sophia is one able to assimilate the energy of a puppy into their lifestyle and is willing to commit the time to working with and training Sophia to be her best self! A fenced yard is ideal as is another younger or middle-aged pup in the family. Perhaps you’d consider adopting Sara along with Sophia…the girls are sisters!! Sophia is crate-trained and is working on good house manners (housebreaking). She is up to date on all age-appropriate vaccinations, is on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. I have had so many chances in my young life. Seriously...I was found with four siblings at about 2.5 weeks old, dumped in a box at the post office... we were so, so sick and close to death. My rescue mom really worked hard to get us healthy and LIVE. And we did! About 6 weeks later, we all got parvo..... and my rescuer was able to nurse all of us out of it! All my siblings have been adopted, and I am ready too! I am somewhat shy and will take time to settle into my new family. But I will adjust. I am best with another dog, calm and confident, because I will mirror that energy. As a gorgeous catahoula/whippet mix, I have plenty of energy and I love to play! Fetch and chase games are my favorite . I am adoptable in Texas, I need to meet my family and you need to meet me! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX)

My Shadow follows me wherever I go!! That is a little disconcerting, however.... I move fast to see if he can keep up with me :) It is fun to try to outsmart him and it does help me wear me out :) I love me some playtime! Toys, ropes, tug of war time and running are keeping me active to fulfill my Whippet nature and my LAB nature too!!
