Story
Elliot is an 8-pound, 1-year old Wire-Haired Terrier. He is absurdly adorable and a constant source of entertainment and love. Elliot loves his people. If there’s a lap to be had, he wants to be sitting in it, napping in it, playing in it. He’s a great little TV-watching buddy. You start with an ear scritch on his cute little head and somehow he always manages to position himself for a nice tummy rub. He would like to sleep snuggled up against his person in the bed, but there are already four dogs in the bed and foster dogmom does not want five, so he sleeps on an ottoman beside the bed. Elliot’s foster home has five other dogs and he gets along well with all of them. He enjoys playing with the other dogs, but his very favorite thing to do is play with stuffed squeaky toys. He tosses them in the air (or across the room) and catches them, whirling and twirling in the process. He can keep this up for quite a while, creating great entertainment for all those watching him. He is also very fond of chew toys. Even more than playing with his toys, he loves to play with squirrels. He’s about the same size they are, so there’s no chance of him ever catching one, but he will stand at strict attention by the tree until a squirrel shows up and then leap and prance and have himself a wonderful time. Elliot was found starving and roaming the streets in the Rio Grande valley, where we suspect he had been for some time. As a result, while his housetraining is in progress, he’s not very far along yet. He has run of house when foster dogmom goes out because he is not destructive at all—with the exception of paper of any kind left on the floor! He loves tearing that into teeny tiny pieces. Elliot would be a great dog for a household with other dogs and a family with older children. He is not suitable for young children because he is still puppy-mouthy. He gets barky when he wants your attention or when spies a dog walking by from his window perch and so would do better in a house than an apartment. Elliots’s adoption fee is $275 and includes neuter and all shots. He is heartworm-negative and on heartworm medication.
