Apply online at www.lolasrescue.com Meet Cuete, the Quirky Clown Looking for His Forever Family! If you're looking for a one-of-a-kind companion, Cuete is your guy! This lovable adult Xoloitzcuintli (Mexican Hairless dog) is 37lbs of personality, charm, and quirks. Cuete is the type of dog that will keep you laughing with his funny antics, but he also has a soft, affectionate side that's all about bonding with his humans. Cuete is a bit of an independent spirit and much prefers the company of his people over other dogs. He can coexist with other dogs, but slow, patient introductions are key to his comfort. Cuete does have a tendency to claim his space (and his toys!) and isn’t a fan of sharing, so a home without small children would be ideal. When he's not stealing the spotlight with his antics, Cuete is an expert counter surfer and has no problem hopping over 4ft fences (he’s got some serious jumping skills!). He’s crate trained and mostly potty trained, though he does enjoy letting his voice be heard from time to time—apartment living might require some patience with his barking. Cuete is currently working through some skin issues, and his biopsy has shown a possible autoimmune endocrine condition that may require medication and careful experimentation with diet and soothing remedies. His future family should be understanding and patient as we continue to monitor and treat his condition. If you’re an experienced dog owner who can offer Cuete the love and attention he deserves—and a little space for his quirky personality—he just might be the perfect fit for you! Dogs that state ***RESCUE CENTER*** are available for meet and greets by appointment at Lola's Rescue Center located at 22351 E. Bayaud Place, Aurora CO 80018 Dogs that state ***FOSTER HOME*** will need to have a preapproved application on file before setting up meet and greets.  You can email Info@lolasrescue.com anytime with questions pertaining to animals in our care.  ##2264471##

Story
** If you are interested in adopting Mabel, please fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ ** Mabel is a darling, 5-year-old Chihuahua mix who came to us from New Mexico after being surrendered to a shelter with five other dogs because her previous family “had too many pets.” We don’t totally understand it either — but what we do know is that Mabel is an absolute gem. This sweet girl has a gentle, mellow spirit and is friendly with everyone she meets. She’s the kind of dog who just wants to be near her person, feeling safe, loved, and finally home. Mabel is eager for a fresh start with someone who will cherish her and promise her forever — no more goodbyes, just love ahead. Now safe in a loving foster home while she awaits her transport to Colorado, Mabel is thriving. She’s settling easily into home life and loves every bit of comfort that comes with it — cozy blankets, gentle cuddles, and a soft place to nap in the sun. Her foster describes her as a total lovergirl who wants nothing more than to be close to her people. She’s affectionate without being overly clingy — a perfect mix of playful and calm that makes small companions like her so special. Mabel gets along well with other dogs and enjoys their company. She loves people and will happily curl up on your lap, rest her head on your shoulder, or follow you around the house just to be near you. Farfel's Rescue would love to see Mabel in a home with an individual, family (older kids are preferred so there's no tail-pulling or awkward handling) or active retirees who have the time and love for a very loyal and sweet dog. We'd hate to see her left alone all day while her family works full-time outside of the home, as she is much too social for that type of arrangement. We'd like to place Mabel in a home where she'll get consistent stimulation, exercise and love. A (virtual or in-person) positive reinforcement group training class promotes great behavior, bonding and confidence. Training is so important in the future behaviors of every dog. It's for this reason that we're unwilling to adopt to a family that doesn't make this loving choice. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of both in-person and virtual positive reinforcement / force- free trainers in your area. Mabel is spayed and up to date on her vaccines. She has been fully vetted and is healthy and heartworm negative. Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial. Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out ~400 dogs each year. Applications are currently being accepted for our wonderful pup. If interested in this gorgeous, very cuddly/sweet and loving best friend, please fill out an application completely at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting from us, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in many cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.

Story
** If you are interested in adopting Theo, please fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ ** Meet Theo! Theo is a 2-year-old, 9-pound Chihuahua / Pug mix. This little guy is as adorable as they come — his silly, slightly crossed eyes give him the most endearing, one-of-a-kind expression that melts your heart! (And yes, he can see perfectly well!) Theo arrived to Colorado on November 5th after being rescued from a shelter in New Mexico, where he ended up after being found as a stray. With all the change and uncertainty he’s experienced, from the shelter environment to the long transport to Colorado, Theo was understandably a bit scared at first. This is truly the strangest and scariest time in his life. But, once we went into a safe warm foster home, his sweet personality came right out after a day or 2! We would expect Theo to be initially a bit shy when he gets adopted and moves into a new home again, but just give him a day and he will show you how sweet he is! His foster has written up a detailed bio for his prospective adopters: From Theo's foster: * * * * "Theo is an incredibly sweet, affectionate dog!!! You just need to be patient with him at first as he learns that you are safe and warms up. When I first took Theo home to foster, he was very scared and hesitant. I had taken him home during an extremely scary time in his life, and I don't blame him for being scared! One he warmed up, which only took a day, he became the absolute friendliest, cuddliest, SWEETEST boy! I love him so much! Theo had just arrived to Colorado from a New Mexico shelter and as if that wasn't scary enough, his original foster had to leave town for thanksgiving so he had to go to a new home all over again. When Theo was with his temporary foster, they took him on a walk but didn't clip his leash onto his harness properly and on their walk an ambulance flew by with its sirens on and spooked Theo and he took off since his leash wasn't properly attached. A neighbor found him almost 20 hours later, hungry and cold and Theo happily followed them home. At this point, I took Theo home to foster him, as my house has a secure yard, and other dogs to help make him feel more comfortable. Knowing the potential flight risk that Theo could be after this happened, I kept his leash attached to his harness for the first few days he was with me. This way, I didn't have to stress him out by touching him when he was scared, and could grab the leash to lead him outside to potty, into the kitchen for meals, and into the room at bedtime. Luckily, this wasn't needed long at all! I kept his leash on for the first 2 days. After that, he was totally warmed up to me and didn't need it at all, as he wanted to follow me everywhere I went! I did still take him out in the yard on a leash just to be extra safe because I didn't want to risk taking him out in my yard to potty and have him not want to follow me back inside. So until I was 100% confident he was comfortable with me and would come when I called him, I took him outside on a leash. After 3 maybe 4 days he didn't need the leash in the yard anymore, because he loved me! I don't want this to scare anyone off; I took extra precautious because of what had happened right before he came to me, but it's always better to be safe than sorry!! He really truly is such a wonderful dog and if someone is just willing to be patient and show him that you are safe and he is safe for the first day, he comes around and is the biggest lover. I have other dogs and Theo gets along great with all of them! Theo even started playing and cuddling with my dogs after about 6 days! It's such an amazing thing to see a dog go from being scared and shy to playful and outgoing. Theo is totally potty trained! He definitely had a home at one point because he knows to hold it until we go outside. Theo sleeps in bed with my husband and I and is a big cuddler. He goes under the blankets and snuggles up close against me. He is okay in a crate, but doesn't need one. I crated him at first when he first came home with me, and he would whine for about 5 minutes then stop and be silent. After he warmed up, I stopped using the crate and he did totally fine loose. For the first few days he whined a little bit here and there because he was still feeling anxious with everything going on and going into a new home, but by day 3 or 4 this stopped as he settled in and felt more comfortable. He loves my husband now!! But he definitely took a few extra days to feel comfortable with him. He bonded with me (female) after really just 1 day, but he took maybe 5 days to be fully comfortable with my husband. So if anyone with a male partner (or someone who is a male) wants to adopt him, just know that he will come around! The take away of all of this bio is just to be patient and go slow with him for the first day and just know that he will come around fast, and when he does, he becomes the happiest, silliest, and most cuddly dog ever! " * * * * We'd like to place Theo in a home where he'll get consistent stimulation, exercise and love. A (virtual or in-person) positive reinforcement group training class promotes great behavior, bonding and confidence for a young guy whose self-esteem will fly high while he masters his skills. Training is so important in the future behaviors of every dog. It's for this reason that we're unwilling to adopt to a family that doesn't make this loving choice. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of both in-person and virtual positive reinforcement / force- free trainers in your area. Story
Our compassionate New Mexico rescuers saved the life of this very sweet and irresistible Chihuahua mix with hopes of transporting him to Colorado for a new and wonderful life. We're uncertain exactly what Alfie's history was or how he landed at a scary New Mexico shelter, but what we do know is that this little guy won the hearts of so many. Alfie's cuteness and the power of his very happy, social, sweet and loving personality motivated his rescuers to save his precious life. This irresistible pup is now safe and sound (and so happy) awaiting his transport to a wonderful new life in Colorado. Alfie is a 5-year-old, 14 lb Chihuahua / Rat Terrier mix who’s full of love and personality! This happy little guy is always wagging his tail and greeting everyone he meets with a tail wag. He’s super friendly and loves making new friends wherever he goes. From Alfie's foster: * * * * “Alfie is such a great little guy. He is friendly, happy, wiggly, and seriously always wagging his tail. He adores people and greets strangers with excited wiggles. He gets along well with both of my dogs and really enjoys being part of the pack. In the home he is a polite, sweet housemate and loves nothing more than cuddling up and being close. I do want to be honest about who Alfie is so we can make sure his adoptive home is truly his forever home. I don’t think he was treated kindly in his past, and he can be sensitive about certain things because of it. Alfie is very food- and treat-protective, both with other dogs and with humans. If another dog walks by while he’s eating, he can react, and he has nipped when someone reaches for his food or chews. Because of this, I feed him in a crate and keep chews separate — this routine works great for him, and he relaxes and does really well with structure. I think he likely had to scavenge / fight for his food previously and this stems from that. He also has some leash reactivity with other dogs. He is good in the home with my dgs, but on walks he gets a bit talkative when he sees other dogs and can bark or pull because he wants to make sure they know he’s there. For such a small guy, he is surprisingly strong! He’ll thrive with someone who has a good handle on a leash and is willing to continue working with him. The good news is he’s totally social with dogs once the initial excitement passes, especially with dogs his size or smaller. He just needs an experienced dog owner. He is not scary or mean, he is actually an INCREDIBLY sweet, sweet dog. Alfie is very very loving, affectionate, and sweet. Once he trusts you, he just wants to be your little shadow and soak up all the love you’ll give him. He’s goofy, cuddly, sensitive, and so eager to bond. He has a safe place with me until the right, experienced adopter comes along—someone who understands his quirks, can give him structure, and will let him blossom into the wonderful dog he truly is.” * * * * Farfel's Rescue would like to see Alfie in a home with an active retiree or someone who works from home. Alfie is much to social to be left alone for long hours while his person works outside of the home. Alfie has been fully vetted and vaccinated to fulfill Farfel's commitment to adopting out only healthy dogs. He has also been neutered to support our work toward a euthanasia - free future in the canine population. If interested in this cute, cuddly and very loving best friend, please fill out an application completely at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ and submit. **PLEASE NOTE**. If you're truly interested in adopting Alfie please be sure to submit the Farfel's Rescue adoption application that can be found at the link above or at farfels.com. Rescue site applications such as Petfinder or Adoptapet don't provide enough information for us to determine a great match for this very deserving dog and therefore aren't useful. We're sorry, but in many circumstances, we're unable to get back to those those that don't submit a Farfel's adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue!
